17 Rowan House is a renovated croft house in the idyllic Strathnaver. It offers light airy rooms that are kept cosy by the aga range cooker and multi fuel burning stove. The light is maximized downstairs and is connected to the two bedrooms upstairs by a central spiral staircase. The master bedroom includes a balcony on which to overlook the beautiful countryside setting. Located on the River Naver just 10 miles south of Bettyhill and 33 miles north of Lairg. Perfect for exploring the NC500.
The space
The house is heated by the Aga range cooker and the stove in the living room, all fuel for which is provided.
The bedrooms are equipped with blackout curtains and velux blinds and with the Egyptian cotton bedding you will get a very restful sleep. There is a travel cot in the house and a high chair can be provided on request.
The house is set on croft number 17 in Strathnaver and guests are more than welcome to explore it.
Guest access
Guests have access to the whole house and garden and in the appropriate months are welcome to eat the fruit grown in the garden, including apples, redcurrants, and blackcurrants.
Our guests sre also welcome to explore our 47 acre croft, with a short walk down to the river Naver where there is a small riverside picnic area for the exclusive use of our guests, and it is approximately a 2 km walk up the hill behind the house and back to see some stunning highland scenery, that really is a hidden gem. All we ask is that all gates are left as found and anything you take up you bring back as well.
There is ample parking around the house in a securely gated garden so you wont have to worry about little ones accessing the road or wandering sheep accessing the gardens.

Neighborhood highlights
Strathnaver is historical significance due to the highland clearances that took place there, more of which can be found out in the Strathnaver Museum in Bettyhill.
We are also on the river Naver renowned amongst keen salmon fishers, tickets for which can be purchased in the post office in Bettyhill or fishing can be arranged on the beats by contacting estates.
The range of beaches on the north coast short drive away and if the weather is right, no tropical paradise can compete with the crystal blue waters and white sands.
Of course it wouldn't be the highlands of Scotland without mountains locally by to ramble up. Munro baggers could enjoy hills such as Ben Klibrek the second highest hill in Sutherland and Ben Hope as well to name a few...
