Visiting Mark and Roseanne was like visiting friends, from the first moment we communicated through AirBnB. The apartment is independent from the rest of their home, the entrance is separate and the place is exactly as described. Our hosts were charming and personable, as well as helpful in solving the little problems that always crop up when you're vacationing. The area is rural and quite lovely. Restaurants are abundant and of good quality, the antique stores are very good, and the shoreline is magnificent. This was our first trip to northern Virginia and we will definitely be back. We particularly enjoyed the deck over the boathouse overlooking the river and the osprey nest, as well as regular appearances by bald eagles. This was one of the gems of our AirBnb experience, and we'll definitely be back.

Our family had a great time at Connie’s! The kids had loads to do in the game room and we all enjoyed the scenic views and relaxing environment. Bathrooms were also super clean. The refrigerator is enormous and was helpful because there aren’t too many food places around so we cooked a lot. Connie was responsive and friendly. We would recommend her place!

It ought to be a collection of Such's and So's. Such a nice place and so quiet. So well decorated with taste and quality materials. Such a relaxing spot so close to the water. So so so good cookies and muffins. And last but not least, so nice people. Very lively and cheerfull Tanya, very calm, quiet and peacefull John (still amazed, 40 years later and apparently, by his wife who may still have more energy than any soldier he faced throughout his carreer . Is there any use to add we enjoyed very much being there and highly recommend the Birds nest ? Daniel

So cozy, so comfortable and quiet, especially my 4.5 yo son loved the place (mostly because of the s’more, he ate a lot :) ) Unfortunately due to weather and water temperatures we couldn’t have fun with the paddle board or kayaks but still have found so much fun activities. It was also very clean.

Amy’s A-frame cabin on the pond as great for our family of 4 and 2 dogs. We loved the fire pit and used it both nights. Conveniently located about 15 minutes from Colonial Beach and Westmorland State Park but still nice and private!

As serene as it gets (except Wednesday is the mowing day, but didn’t bother us). Renee is super responsive, which helped a lot. The place is clean and very relaxing, it is remote though, any big city you want to drive to is 1.5-2hr drive. Had fun fishing from the dock, so many catfish there, anyone can catch. Friendly neighbors. Water is on the soft side. Fridge and cupboard had spices and condiments, and a water filter, which was a big plus. Pots and pans need replacing, that’s probably the only negative. Would come back in a heartbeat. Thanks Renee and Ed!

Our large group of friends had a blast this past weekend. The house feels roomy and spacious. Best of all, it is a perfect balance of beauty and functionality, stylish yet relaxing. The kitchen is well equipped and well laid out, easily accommodated the enthusiastic cooking, prepping, and clean up crews working together easily. Long dinning table and cushy sofa comfortably seats all of us without feeling crowded. Plenty of space in and around the house that accommodate for all of us together, and apart, for activities but also able to step away for some privacy when needed. We enjoyed sunset on the balcony, and yoga in the open area upstairs. We caught crabs off the dock, spotted dolphins, and kayaked out into the sunset. We had so much fun at the Red Roof Cottage and can’t wait to go back for another visit!

This tiny house was incredibly cute and comfortable. I spent three nights, mostly just listening to the birds and the river (and, on one night, the howling wind). Sunsets were breathtaking. and Laurie lent me a kayak so I could go explore the marsh just upstream. It was a wonderful, peaceful retreat.

This is a wonderful place to stay! Our entire purpose of this weekend getaway was to relax and enjoy the surroundings and we came to the perfect place- Being on the water is so peaceful and relaxing. We also enjoyed the hot tub and watching the sunrise. The dock was nice for relaxing and some fishing. The home is decorated nicely with everything you need. Thank you Brittany ! The house was spectacular, it has a beautiful view where the tranquility of the water, the wind and the sunset, make you forget everything. I went with my 8 friends who also enjoyed the space, it was a divine experience which I would recommend to anyone. A place to disconnect from the outside world and enjoy everything you have around you. If my friends and I go back to Maryland, I'm sure we'll choose this place again. I stayed here with my three kids for a little getaway, and we had the best time. The place was super clean and spacious, and the modern decor and finishes were clearly chosen with care—it just felt really good to be there. The game rooms were such a fun touch, each with its own theme, and the kids were obsessed! One of our favorite parts was the scavenger hunt—it was such a fun and unexpected surprise, and it gave us a memory we’ll definitely hold onto. The host was incredibly kind, polite, and respectful. Overall, it was just a great experience and a really special trip with my kids.

I arrived right after a big storm, where multiple trees blocked the roads on my way in. Carolyn and Randy were helpful and proactive and did everything they could to help me! Once I arrived they were hospitable and accommodating. The bed is so comfortable and the shower feels amazing- that is pretty much all I need for a great stay. It felt great coming home to such a peaceful place each evening. The pups are great too if you get to meet them. 10/10 recommendation! I hope to walk around the property to enjoy all the nature next time I visit.

We loved our stay! The place was so cute and felt super homey. Just like the description said, it had everything we needed—I only had to bring food. The open layout of the living and kitchen area made it feel really spacious, and the porch quickly became our favorite spot. We relaxed and watched movies in the hot tub every day. The pier was a nice bonus, just a short walk away, and the whole neighborhood was beautiful—perfect for walks or bike rides. Quiet, peaceful, and exactly what I was looking for. One small heads-up: if you’re very tall, the shower might be a bit tight—my husband is 6’2” and barely fit! Still, we had an amazing time and would absolutely stay again.

This fabulous riverside cottage was the perfect spot for two families to enjoy a destination Thanksgiving. Having as many bathrooms as bedrooms is amazing, and we also loved having two different hangout spaces. The kitchen had everything we needed (even double ovens!), and we just can’t imagine a more peaceful getaway.

We really enjoyed our stay at Joe’s Jayco. Quiet, peaceful place on the Rappahannock River. We are not big campers but wanted to try something different. We are so glad we we chose this place. We enjoyed a great riverside stay with two kids and five adults. There was ample space, entertainment for the kids (6 and 8), and accomodating hosts. We would recommend a stay here for its onsite aquatic activities, relaxing vibe, and proximity to both Richmond and Williamsburg.
