Shadow Valley Getaway

We had a lovely stay at Brenda and Rudy’s place! The home was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared - perfect for our mini vacation to visit Garner State Park. We’d absolutely stay here again!
Three children are seen standing at the edge of a serene river, wearing colorful swimwear and inflatable arm floaties. The water is clear, reflecting the blue sky above, and a sandy bank is visible in the background, framed by lush greenery.

Cozy cottage on the Frio

BrendaRating, 5 stars20 months ago
We all had a great time. The house is beautiful and spacious. The kids enjoyed the smores out in the patio. On the firepit. We did spend most of the day on Saturday trying to find some water. Went Garner, and we needed a reservation for the day. We didn'thave one. So get information before going. The river is not the same as it used to be. Thank you Lopez Family.
A covered patio is shown, featuring wooden flooring and rustic log-style seating. Two comfortable chairs are arranged beside a small table, with a view of the surrounding greenery. A taxidermy deer head decorates the wall, and a ceiling fan is visible above.

Leakey River Rental. A Secluded & Spacious Home.

MelissaRating, 5 stars9 months ago
We felt this location was a great choice. The only negative was it took over 5 hours to get there :( The house was VERY spacious and the kitchen was WELL STOCKED. We loved having to refrigerators! Mark was a wonderful host. He gave us tips and showed us how to get to the water. We loved all the wood inside the house, but felt the stairs to the 2nd floor were a little uneven and had our 20 year olds trip a couple of times. We loved how open downstairs is and just LOVE this place. We wished it was closer to our house.

This was our third stay and it was just as perfect as the last two trips! We look forward to getting away for the holiday and just relaxing as a family. We loved the changes that were made to create more of a lounging/living room.
A stone pathway leads to the lodge, framed by lush greenery and views of the hillside. The lodge features a wooden porch with seating, set against the backdrop of serene lake waters and a cloudy sky.

Lodge in The Woods Private Lake

AMAZING location for those looking for a secluded weekend. This place is truly beautiful and the water is crystal clear, deep, shallow in spots, and cold. You are in the middle of nowhere with no cable TV or wifi, but we had a 2, 6, and 13 year old with us and nobody missed those amenities. The house is beautiful inside and out with everything we needed (silverware, plastic cups, trash bags, towels, etc). The beds were comfortable, and the views were breathtaking. Ivonne was very accommodating and responsive. Prior to arriving she coordinated details and I felt well prepared with directions, expectations, etc. When we arrived she gave us a tour of the property and would drive over and even guide us to the best spots on the river for the younger kids. I would highly recommend this house and we’ll be coming back next year!!
A small cabin presents a vibrant green and white exterior, featuring two entry doors and a welcoming front porch. Colorful steps lead up to the porch, which is bordered by decorative stone paths and surrounded by grassy areas. Outdoor seating is visible nearby.

Idyllic 8 Acre Private River Front-Rio Escondido

ChelseaRating, 5 stars37 months ago
Our stay on the Nueces was just what we wanted - quiet and peaceful. Camp Wood is a very small town, so come prepared with what you want (good books, specialty foods, etc), and you’ll enjoy the serenity of that part of the river. It was just a short walk down to the riverbank, and it was perfect for our little one to wade and splash. The water was clear and refreshingly cold on warm days. The house has everything we needed to prepare meals, and we enjoyed evenings under the giant oaks outside. Marci was a great communicator - prompt and thorough for check-in and check out!
