Top tips to help improve your ranking in search results
Airbnb uses an algorithm to generate search results that appeal to guests. This algorithm takes numerous factors into account, each with varying degrees of impact, when determining the display order of listings.
Price
The algorithm prioritizes the total price of a listing before taxes (including fees and discounts). Listings that are priced below other comparable listings tend to rank higher in search, and one of the ways you might directly affect the performance of your listing in search is by changing your price or offering discounts. Consider using our pricing tools to help compare similar listings nearby or adding the discounts below:

Availability
Adding availability may improve the visibility of a listing. The more dates a listing is available, the more likely it is compatible with a guest’s plans—so adding availability is a good way to improve the visibility of a listing.
Length of stay
By offering flexibility in the length of stays, such as reducing restrictions on minimum and maximum booking durations, you can help increase the likelihood that your listing will align with guests' plans and appear more frequently in search results. In fact, during Q3 2023, stays of 28 days or longer accounted for 18% of gross nights booked on Airbnb, highlighting the demand for extended stays.*
Great hospitality
Your ability to set guest expectations, then meet or exceed them as a Host, typically improves your search ranking over time. The algorithm also considers whether you’re a Superhost or if you’re meeting some or all of the criteria to become one. Superhost programme requirements To qualify, you need to have an account in good standing and meet the following criteria:
- Completed at least 10 trips or 3 reservations that total at least 100 nights
- Maintained a less than 1% cancellation rate, with exceptions made for those that fall under our Extenuating Circumstances policy
- Maintained a 90% response rate or higher
- Maintained a 4.8 overall rating (a review counts towards Superhost status when either both the guest and the Host have submitted a review, or the 14-day window for reviews is over, whichever comes first).
Popularity
The algorithm assesses listing popularity based on guest interactions and other factors, such as wishlisting, booking frequency, and messaging the Host. Consider social media presence as more popular listings tend to rank higher in search.

Adding sought-after amenities, such as high-speed wifi, self check-in and free parking can help a listing surface in search results to guests searching for those amenities.
Responsiveness
The search algorithm considers how quickly you respond to guest enquiries and how often you may reject requests to book. This means that listings that can be booked instantly may rank higher in search results. Consider aiming for a 90% response rate to help improve the performance of your listings over time. Airbnb’s ranking algorithm will evolve over time to reflect changes to our business and technology, in our community, and around the world.
