Cottage vacation rentals in Charente-Maritime

We had a nice stay overall, but unfortunately we had a problem with the booking calendar that added unnecessary stress. This prevented us from taking full advantage of our time on site, as we had to urgently look for another place to stay for the end of the stay. Despite this inconvenience, Fabien was very friendly and attentive to our well-being. His warm welcome deserves to be highlighted. We recommend, hoping that this booking issue will be resolved for future tenants.

We booked Maddy‘s place very last minute. She was very amicable and got the place ready quickly for us! The upstairs mezzanine was perfect t for ours kids. Maddy and her family were so friendly and helpful. We would definitely visit again if we’re passing through. The house was perfect for two adults three children and a dog. Our children are aged 8, 10 and 12 and we enjoyed cycling out to the local town and playing by the swimming pool. The kids loved feeding the goat, there were chickens too. They loved the owners dog too! We visited Royan, it’s approx 30 minutes drive. I would throughly recommend this place!

Louise and Mickael made us feel very welcome, plus a bottle of white wine and cool beers! Very nice! We had a pleasant week of vacation at Moulin Chaillou. We were able to enjoy the pool, which the kids loved (4 years and 1 year). All shops are nearby, the beach is 45 minutes away, as well as the aquarium, etc. If you need anything, do not hesitate, Louise and Mickael are there to meet your needs.

Almost don’t want to say how lovely, as will make it more competitive to book to go back! In a word - glorious! - The gite, gardens and grounds and pool are kept beautifully. Gite was spotless and very well equipped (including lots of goodies on arrival, garden games to use there - kids were very happy - charcoal ready for the bbq etc), huge comfortable beds, and wood fired hot tub to sit and look at the stars. - Stunning surrounding views (endless fields of sunflowers) and lovely shady woods to be walk. - Lots of pretty villages - particularly Aubeterre with its central square and river beach worth the short drive (under 20 mins). We also loved the big river beach at St Aulaye (c.40 mins). - Meg and Mark are kind, fun and knowledgeable hosts who were perfect balance of around and incredibly helpful - but very much left us to just relax and enjoy the gite/pool as our own. - Shopping v easy at local supermarkets, various markets and nearby village shop/butchers. Thank you!!

Pleasant house close to Fouras and tastefully decorated. Thanks to Alexandre for turning on the stove before I arrived!

The place was very clean and tidy. Well laid out and comfortable, the house offers everything you need for vacationers, with a big plus: the terrace and the hot tub that allow you to fully enjoy the days, even the hottest ones. We also note that Eve and her spouse were very responsive in their communication and that they were very flexible with check-in and checkout times. Thank you again for hosting a friendly welcome!

We had a great time with friends and kids. The accommodation is well equipped, quiet, perfect for 2 families. The pool with sauna and jacuzzi is the perfect place for adults and children. The presence of the playground made the children happy. We thank Daphne and Blaise for their welcome. We warmly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet week.

We had a great time in this beautiful house, recently renovated and with all the comforts we needed. Super nice place, the neighborhood is very nice, the ducks and the chickens of the neighbor made the happiness of my 1 ½ year old daughter. Maryse's welcome was warm and we really felt at home with lots of books and games, it was great.

Our stay with Jeremy was very nice. The space is beautifully furnished and has all the comforts. It's a really very quiet area which is nice. We had brought our bikes and were cycling at La Tremblade, Ronce le Bain and la Palmyre. Beautiful surroundings with good bike paths. We had a very nice weekend and would love to come back.

It was a really nice week in the gîte rosiers. We enjoyed very much the nice surroundings and fun activities nearby. Super friendly hosts, they were always ready for us for help, fun tips and a chat here and there. It is definitely recommended!!

A tranquil oasis in the middle of the Charente. Lee and Karl are great hosts and their Gite is immaculate and beautiful. Lee’s restaurant recommendations are brilliant and make sure you go and have cake at Gateaux!!

Great stay. Self check-in. Everything was spotless, a small basket with eggs and tomatoes was waiting for us, thank you for the attention. Very well appointed studio, super comfortable sofa bed. Convenient air conditioning. Bathroom niquel. The garden has much more to our 2 dogs and we had the pleasure of meeting the donkey upon arrival. We stayed 3 nights and were able to visit the area. (Car required) The surroundings are superb and wild for a good walk with the dogs. I recommend if you want tranquility while being quite close to oléron.

We had a fabulous week at this lovely cabin! Maryline and her husband are great hosts, always smiling and ready to share their tips for discovering the region and tasting the best local restaurants. The setting is simply idyllic: a haven of peace with soothing silence. The place, perfect for two, is a real cocoon where you can fully recharge. An unforgettable experience that we highly recommend!

If I find such a great location once a year, I am more than happy. The experience of this overnight stay was actually worth 6 stars. Quiet beautiful location among the grape vines. Excellent restaurants at 7 minutes from the location, town of Cognac is recommended and walk to the location beautiful. Jonathan is a very good host ! We spent 2 very pleasant weeks with our 4-year-old daughter. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable, the covered terrace is very nice. The indoor pool is a real plus. The residence is close to all amenities and especially the market. We could have gone mostly by bike. We recommend this accommodation without hesitation.

Colleen and Keith are super hosts, very responsive and close by. The house was as expected and situated near lovely small villages and picturesque towns.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and could easily have stayed longer. The place was perfect, fantastic pool, great countryside and fab location for day trips. Mark and Elaine were the perfect hosts, all in all a great place!

Perfect stay! Linda was a wonderful host and we had everything we need. Cottage has lots of character in perfect surroundings. Had some of the best meals in nearby Melle.

Alexis and Marine are very welcoming hosts... we were in a very quiet place. The place and location are really nice, great for relaxing and enjoying. Perfect location to discover other places ( La Rochelle 40min, 20min from Fouras, 40min from Île Madame, 1h from Amnéville Zoo etc.)

Carol’s place was even better than expected with communication brilliant throughout our stay. Carol made us feel like part of the family for our week away. We would recommend to absolutely anyone looking to have a quiet stay in the Charante area of France. We will be back as soon as possible!

A really lovely comfortable gite. Amazing outdoor space including a safe pool with loads to entertain the kids. And lots nearby to do for young and old. We really enjoyed it with our two young ones.

Very good stay at Guillemette's. We were 4 people with a 2 year old baby. The house is very spacious, very functional, bright, clean. A very quiet place on the edge of forest surrounded by cats, chickens and dogs. The place with the house is peaceful. Rest assured. It was a very pleasant stay at Guillemette's which is very pleasant. I would highly recommend for a vacation with friends and/or family with or without children.
