Cabin in Chaiten
4.67 out of 5 average rating, 9 reviewsRefugio Fierrillo, cabaña Mañio.
The cabin looks newly renovated, and is very clean and simple. Had everything we needed. We needed to use the wood heater, and had to contact Carlos for direction on where to find wood and an axe. Otherwise everything was great. Good location for PumalinSur park and a short drive to Chaiten. There is a mini mercado and a pizzeria just a minute’s walk away. There is some road noise that is much less at night. Earplugs worked well. We very much appreciated how clean and tidy the cabin was. Thanks

An incredible view, a cabin with all the comforts and a very attentive host who always responded quickly.
Cabin in Quicavi

I spent 8 days in the cabin and truly enjoyed it. The location is absolutely stunning: hidden away and protected from wind and weather in a small canyon but with a wide view of the sea. 10’ walk to the beach. All necessary amenities incl. hot water, gas stove, electrical heating. It’s beautiful if you like your solitude and enjoy long walks along the beach and through lush hills. Mini market about 3’ walk. Everything else >30’ walk. I came without vehicle of my own and was always lucky to either catch public transport (little, remember it’s a tiny village) or catch a ride with a neighbor. No phone signal with Entel. Hence: this is the perfect place to unwind. I would come again any day. If you’re looking for the rumble, restaurants etc, however I’d recommend you to look in the larger towns of the island (Dalcahue, Quemchi). They’re not as picturesque as Quicaví in my opinion though :P

Sergio welcomed us very kindly, waiting for our arrival and helping us find the entrance of the house (since we arrived at midnight). The little house is super comfortable to rest after days of many walks: the shower is very comfortable and with plenty of hot water, the armchair is ideal for rest, the perfect beds. Sergio took us every day with firewood and chips to light the stove and gave us recommendations for places to know and where to shop. She was always available and responsive to our needs, even when we had a mishap with the key she took care of fixing it at the time. We had the opportunity to chat more with him and get to know stories about the region and how it was changing over time, a total genius. The house has next door a little forest where you can hear Chucaos and Zorzales, and is close to a very nice beach (Santa Bárbara), from where you can see the sunset.

The cabin has a furnace which makes it very cozy. We enjoyed the fact that we could BBQ and the that it was close to the lake. The layout of the cabin is really good. Might be bit tight for 4 people to relax inhouse on a rainy day but it was perfect for the who of is. It was peacefull. The surrounds are not that secluded but I will still say it is private.

Great place, Veronica gave us a bigger cabin than what I booked, super generous.

The cabin was beautiful, with a beautiful 1 minute wooden walkway leading from the parking to the cabin, the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was good, the shower was hot and the fire made the cabin warm. Ignacio was lovely and very helpful. We would recommend. It was unfortunately quite expensive and poor value when compared to other cabins we've stayed at in other parts of Chile but fairly good value for Chaiten (which is unfortunately a very overpriced place despite not being nearly as nice as other towns on the Carretera Austral). Please note if you have mobility issues this is not a good place to stay as from the carpark to the cabin it is a 1 minute walk down a board walk and up steep steps.

One of the best places I've been to, a paradise, if you can stay more days, choose it without a doubt. Everything spotless, grill, lake view, beautiful river descent! Don't go without going down to the river, it's beautiful!! Margarita y Juan un amor! Always available and friendly like the people of the south ❤️

We had such a wonderful couple of days here. Being directly at the confluence of three rivers was perfect for fly-fishing. The cabin is spacious for two people and had everything we needed. The hospitality of Alvaro's family was unmatched!

Darío was very proactive in communicating during our stay and making sure that we had everything we needed. Even on really cold nights, we were able to keep warm with the wood stove and he always made sure that we had enough wood for the night and the day after. The location is great with supermarkets, bakeries, and restaurants within a block or two. It's private and you are looking at the forest through the windows so it is very peaceful. I highly recommend staying at Darío's cabin.
