Absolutely loved this special gem of an apartment. Just as in the description- Awham’s rooftop terrace is looking out to the dunes on one side and across to the dhows on the water to the other. The call to prayer woke us up in the morning coming in on the breeze through the beautiful mosquito canopied curtains round the comfy bed. Literally the most stunning magical place and we were so happy to be in friendly friendly happy Lamu. Great recommendation of local restaurants and easy trot down a Sandy backstreet to the beach. Incredible shopping in the village and had no need to leave except for sadly our flight away. Also met Awham, who is extremely helpful, kind and the perfect advert for chilled Lamu - def recommend!

Anthony's house was a tranquil oasis for our group. Justin and Martin made our stay extra special, they catered to all our requests, kept the house spotless and served the most delicious meals. The house is centrally located and we had so much fun exploring all the alleys. Lamu definitely rates as a safe environment filled with the most friendly and helpful people. We would recommend it as a food destination too.

What a magical oasis in Shela, having a dipping pool is such a treat on these hot days! He has an amazing eye for interior design, the place is beautiful with thoughtful resting day beds and beautiful pillows to brighten it up. The aircon worked perfectly in the room and the bed was delightfully large! It was a short walk back from peponi into Shela, and we had help with our bags to and from. Ali was an amazing cook and made us fish curry on our first night - I would highly recommend it! We were exhausted from the travel so ended up watching a film on the large tv before bed, and felt so relaxed watching the moon from the day bed. Anyone is lucky to book this spot, but with Babus style you can be sure any of his other properties will be equally beautiful and stylish for your stay in this magical village.

we had such a wonderful stay at Pumbao. the house is beautifully decorated with a great pool and wonderful sea views. The food cooked by the chef was so delicious and the other staff were friendly and kept the house immaculate. we would definitely visit again.

Chris' place was beautiful, clean and had everything you need. It's ideally located with shops and restaurants just outside, but still peaceful and within 5 mins from beautiful Shela beach. Chris organised the boat from Manda airport and him and Brenda met us by the jetty and took care of us throughout our stay!

Gilles’ place is very special. Beautiful architecture, a wonderful collection of art & books, spacious and comfortable and a magnificent pool to refresh ourselves! Gilles is a well travelled charming and caring host - ready to make our stay great. The staff - Stephen & Anderson were very talented chefs and gracious caretakers of the house. They welcomed us and attended to all our needs with utmost kindness. The sunset was spectacular from the rooftop terrace. What more could we ask for? We really loved our stay and can’t wait to return. Thank you Gilles, Stephen and Anderson. It was more than memorable!!!

A Lamu cultural experience and authentic Lamu house. Zion was amazing always ready to help and took good care of us. Prompt and consistent response from the host.

We had the most beautiful time in the family house with two toddlers. Kahindi used to be a chef, you taste that and have been very responsive and accommodating. We can recommend this place to anyone who is in the mood for a good and relaxed family time in the middle of beautiful Shela.
