Family-friendly vacation rentals in Ashburton

We made a huge mistake when only booking this place for part of our stay. My thought was to jump around the South Island with my family at a couple stops. Had I known it was this awesome, then I would’ve booked our whole time at Anna’s. This place is exactly what my family loves. The kids will definitely be complaining about where we stay next. This property is AWESOME.

We loved this peaceful, spotless refuge while on grandparent duty. Deb and James were friendly hosts and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed hearing about local amenities such as the outstanding Opuke hot pools! Thank you.

This is a lovely and very functional place with a laundry and hot tub! Linda and Vicky both are great hosts. We'd go back in a flash.

Heather was incredibly kind and gave lots of recommendations for both the local town and Arthur’s Pass. I would highly recommend this place for either a short or long-term stay. Just be aware Google Maps gets you to the right road, but not the right driveway.

Had an increadible time staying in Birdsong, Tanya was incredibly accommodating, warm and friendly. The home was beautiful and surpassed our expectations! Very tranquil, relaxing, cozy atmosphere. Even more increadible than in the photos! Couldn't fault the experience and would love to come again in the future, definately a must do. Highly recommend :)

Michael's property matched all descriptions perfectly. Communication had been great through check in all the way to check out. The property is located high up on Cashmere hills which unfortunately was out of scooter operating zone. You'll definitely need a car or Uber to get to the house. Overall, the property met our expectations and we had a comfortable stay.

We had an absolutely magical stay at this farm - a truly one-of-a-kind experience! Upon arrival, we found the fridge stocked with fresh milk and breakfast supplies, including delicious homemade butter and yogurt. The real highlight was the farm experience. Our farmer hosts went above and beyond - they were so warm and welcoming, introducing us to their adorable lambs (each with their own special name!) and other animals. They patiently shared their knowledge about farm life, making us feel like part of their family. It wasn't just accommodation - it was like stepping into a storybook. We'd return in a heartbeat and highly recommend this special place!

Such a fun home to stay in. Constant talking points when admiring all the Retro decor. Hot Spa was awesome and well situated in the garden for ambience. Games room with snooker table gave us something extra and different to do when it rained. Awesome view of the harbour from upstairs. Easy walk to shops and main Waterfront. Plenty of options for crockery and cutlery. Retro heater worked well to warm upstairs from the unusual "feels like 1 degree" weather! We did not get to use the fireplace.

Perfect location to get away from the city life! It has an English feel to it, filled with lots of character! We were greeted by two very friendly dogs. I'd love to stay again in winter so I can use the huge log burner!

if you are travelling to Christchurch with a small group then this place is for you. Great house, good size bedrooms ,great kitchen and Lounge, plenty of space. The house has everything you need for a great stay. The house is set in lovely gardens and has a terrific deck space. Hosts are great and very helpful, really recommend this place.

This home is in a beautiful and serene setting. It was about 1.5h from Christchurch airport and was the perfect antidote to the craziness of flying. At night, the only thing we could hear was the breeze and the gentle rain. I’d love to stay for a week. Annie was incredibly friendly and the welcome basket with homemade granola was tops. The basket also included potato chips made from the potatoes grown on the property! The kitchen was amazingly well stocked and my kid got to try Milo for the first time.

What an awesome spot just beautiful and a good base for traveling around the Mackenzie basin. Great amenities and well set up for families.

Great place in a great location and Cecile was so lovely and helpful! I can highly recommend; however, if you are travelling with elderly be aware the driveway is very steep and the stairs don't have handrails.

This accomodation is in a great location, a short walk to restaurants and to Caroline Bay. The apartment was very clean, spacious and quiet. There was heating in every room, so it was easy to warm up the place in the evening. There was a great book shelf to browse. We would definitely recommend Fiona and Andrew's apartment.

Highly recommend! Friendly and helpful. Warm and have everything in the kitchen. The weather is not good. Rain all day. If there have a table and seats inside will be great.

Beautiful spot in a very tranquil setting. The suite was perfect; lots of room, private and it had everything we needed and more. Without a car I wasn’t sure how easy this place would be to access but it was a short walk (uphill) from the bus stop. Loved our stay and how friendly, accommodating and helpful Jen was.

Amazing place. Beautiful inside and out (pool, patio dining, garden), modern, and immaculate. Everything was high quality from five star bedding to the well equipped kitchen. Hostess Jules was very responsive and friendly…The property sits in a nice neighborhood high above Christchurch, and our favorite part was on the other side (a short drive) - Taylor’s Mistake Beach and the world class walking trail above and past it. I don’t normally write reviews, but this place was really nice.

Beautiful little place to stay, we were sad to leave! Great amount of space for us, comfy and clean. Everything was provided that we needed for breakfast and more including delicious treats! Pool was also fabulous for a swim. Sue and Greg are fabulous hosts, super friendly. Will definitely recommend!

Sue & Greg's place was so relaxing after a long day of driving in the rain. The bed in the enclosed bedroom was so comfortable. We were grateful for food when we arrived and the homemade quiche, muffins, and rhubarb for breakfast. Breakfast also included toast, granola, yogurt, cereal, milk, fruit, tea, and coffee. I wish we could bring our kids and grandkids and swim/hot tub.

Had a very relaxing stay at this peaceful B n B set in wonderful surroundings..we felt like we were in rural France as it was very quaint and charming.We could have had a party in the bathroom..it was HUGE!

I would highly recommend staying at Chas’s beautiful place if you are looking for somewhere beautiful & relaxing to get away from the rat race. The spectacular views were amazing

This was a perfect base for visiting our family in Christchurch. Grandchildren are great but it was good to escape to such a pleasant location and there was free use of the pool!
