Sato-san and Taki-san were the perfect hosts. Their stories and their antics brought great joy to our conversations. The food they cooked up was as heartfelt and warm as they were.

This was a very special experience for us as two people exploring Japan and curious to learn about the culture. The hosts went out of their way to accommodate us, they treat you like friends and spend quality time with you if you are curious. They showed us their land and where the food we ate came from. It was an exception farm to table experience in an authentic traditional Japanese farmhouse for a very very good price. Their sweet children came to say hi and were quite quiet. The place was very peaceful. We chose the option to have dinner and breakfast and very happy we did. Everything was so tasty and fresh. They made the bread, the honey came from their bees, the eggs were laid that morning and roots and greens were picked that morning. Its was a cooler time of year, we entered the space to a cozy wood stove fire burning and the most comfortable beds with great cotton sheets and extra blankets. A truly authentic experience for those who want to really experience Japanese rural

Our stay at Cottage Hideaway was wonderful! We were able to find the location easily, and Aki met us and helped us check in easily. The cabin was beautiful and spotlessly clean. We were plenty warm even during snow storms with a combination of electric split systems, kerosene heaters, and a cozy fire place. The property was beautiful and huge! Our kids spent most of their time playing outside in the snow. Aki was great to work with. He was very proactive in providing recommendations for restaurants and ski resorts, checking on our needs, and even plowing the snow off the driveway every morning. We will remember our time in Aomori fondly.

We were welcomed very warmly by Kaoru and her husband one hour earlier since we arrived to early and even got coffee, cake and pudding. After talking plans for the rest oft the day her husband offered to drive us close to the sea, since he had buisness there and we wanted to go there by train. In the evening we talked a lot to Kaoru and she invited us to a japanese style breakfast the next morning! So as you already read, the hosts are very friendly and make you feel right at home. As for the room, while it was small for two people, it had all important amnesties such as wall hooks, towels, cups, coffee & tea options and for anything missing you could ask Kaoru! The place was clean, the space well used and the beds were very comfortable. I'd definitely recommend this place to everyone, but especially to solo-travelers, since Kaoru and Seiki are very kind and always open to chat!
