We’re throwing open the doors of our distillery for a limited number of stays and inviting you to experience what it’s like to be a distiller for the day. You will stay for two nights in the cottages next to the distillery and get an exclusive whisky tasting and an evening meal at our pub.
We'll be adding four bookable dates from 10AM BST on 17 May 2021, to give as many people as possible the opportunity to book but this stay is only available to guests from the UK for the time being.
The space
You’ll stay in a spacious stable conversion with an open plan kitchen/dining/lounge on the grounds of the Distillery.
The Kitchen area is fully fitted with a hob, oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher.
The lounge has comfortable seating, a large wall mounted flat screen TV with BT Sport and french doors leading onto a large decking area.
Both bedrooms come with twin beds or zip & link super king (please state preference when booking), fitted wardrobes (with shelving, drawers and hanging space) dressing table, flat screen TV/DVD, radio alarm clock and hair dryer.
The bathroom has a bath, shower, wc and wash basin, with non slip tiles and underfloor heating.
The outdoor space has garden furniture with seating, a gas barbeque and a private hot tub. There is also a shared enclosed courtyard with outdoor seating, outside tap and secure lockup for bicycles/motorbikes.
All fuel/power bedlinen, towels, private hot tub, bathrobes and wifi included.
Parking is suitable for people with restricted mobility and wheelchair users.
Guest access
The overnight stay is fully accessible, but there are elements of the day spent in the distillery which are situated in an upstairs area with no lift which is therefore not accessible to those who require step-free access (though we are working on ways to make the whole experience more inclusive).
The stay and distillery day will be in strict adherence with local COVID-19 guidelines and will follow Airbnb’s COVID-19 Safety Practices, which include wearing a face covering unless exempt and practicing social distancing.
Please note, some parts of the distillery have high colour contrast and/or low lighting. Some members of our team have entry level BSL training; please let us know if you require communication in BSL and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Other things to note
We'll be adding these four bookable dates from 10AM BST on 17 May 2021, to give as many people as possible the opportunity to book but this stay is only available to guests from the UK who have positive Airbnb reviews:
8-10 June 2021
22-24 June 2021
4-6 August 2021
17-19 August 2021
You’ll get to help our team in every element of the process that goes into making our whisky, from meeting the malt delivery in the (early!) morning to milling and mashing the barley, fermentation, firing up the stills and then filling the casks.
You’ll also get an exclusive whisky tasting and an evening meal at our pub The Globe Inn, Dumfries, where you’ll walk in the footsteps of our most famous former patron, Robert Burns, and sample the cooking of our brilliant Michelin Star-experienced chefs. (Note, if you come in June we won’t be able to host dinner at the Globe as we’re not reopening until July, but we’ll still give you a tour of the pub before serving dinner prepared by the Globe’s chefs at the distillery - don’t worry, you won’t miss out!)
We’ll send you on your way with a bottle of our Single Malt Scotch Whisky, of course, so you can forever boast to your friends that you know exactly how to make it.
Due to the historic nature of the Distillery, there are uneven floors throughout the grounds and the building. In production areas, there is grated flooring which makes it unsuitable for heeled shoes. Therefore please bring a sturdy pair of shoes to wear on the distillery day - a pair of steel toe capped boots would be ideal or, if you don’t happen to own any of those, some robust ankle boots like walking boots would do the trick. We’ll also need to send over a few routine health and safety forms for you to sign ahead of your visit, so you know what to expect and to help ensure your safety and wellbeing on the day at the distillery.
You’ll be met on arrival at your cottage by our co-host Margaret. We’ll pop over to say hello the day you arrive and let you know what to expect the next day (if it’s before 5pm, sadly we can’t do later as we’re a working distillery). Be ready for an early start!
