The perfect spot for our overnight stay in Wakkerstroom…coffee plunger, tea and rusks, milk in the refrigerator, a visiting cat, comfortable bed, bath and shower, walking distance to town, just perfect - thank you Sue and Cornelius who met us on arrival.

Great location, quiet surrounds with a big garden and stunning views over the vlei. Comfortable and cosy accommodation but the house externally is in need of some maintenance. Fire pit not cleaned, broken weber, broken gutters, roof guards and a hole in the fence means there a little air of neglect/unfinished business about the space. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay and the town of Wakkies is always a treat!

although we hardly stayed but it was homely and safe for us. we cannot wait to come back again.

We stayed at this old stone home adjacent to Wakkerstrom Marsh in Dec. 2024, during a particularly hot/dry time. We are BIRDERS (both scientists in our 60s, one of us with a PhD). Glenda's house is the best one: it is a two minute drive from a great bird viewing spot...The house has much space, great hot water and a good-sized kitchen with all the necessary dishes, cookware. Refrigerator is full-sized. Great Parking and safe place/area. We would stay here again. What we wish were better: the house does get hot, and does not cool off quickly at night (and only one portable fan for two floors). You cannot open the windows at night (mosquitos). There is no internet (a problem for international travelers). Mixing water properly in the downstairs shower was tricky (upstairs one much better). Other info: Wakkerstrom Hotel had best food/price (stick to meat or pizza); for a bird guide, get Ulrich Oberprieler (263A Ulys St. in town) or David Nkosi (via Birdlife International) both on the web.

Really enjoyed my stay. Hosts were friendly, accommodating and helpful. Unit matched the description and had everything I needed included e.g. towels, kettle, AC, pots and pans etc. Unit is also situated in a nice, quiet area just a few minutes drive from local shops and town centre. Breakfast was included which is exceptional value for money considering the price per night. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

A delightful peaceful little cottage to nestle up in, very homely, private and tucked away. One of my better experiences of many whilst travelling and staying in Newcastle. Lovely hosts, clean and very comfortable. Feels like home away from home.

We really loved our stay at The Vlei Cottage. Great layout of the unit for the family to enjoy. Great spcae outside for kids to run and play.

Nice place in the mountains, very quiet and secluded.
