We had the most wonderful stay in this charming cabin nestled on the property of a windmill in Alkmaar. From the moment we arrived, our hosts Kelly and Han made us feel completely at home. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect—so kind, welcoming, and full of great local tips. The cabin itself is a dream—coziness taken to the next level. Every detail was thoughtfully put together, and it was the perfect place to unwind to relax. Waking up next to a windmill felt like something out of a fairytale. Alkmaar itself is a beautiful village full of history, with adorable shops and restaurants to explore. The charming canals add to the magical atmosphere, and it’s easy to hop on a train to Amsterdam for a day trip. We’re already dreaming of our return and feel so lucky to have made such lovely new friends in Kelly and Han. Highly recommend this magical spot to anyone visiting The Netherlands!

A unique place with lots of peace and bird sounds in a special village. The cottage is particularly furnished, as if we were going back in time, but with comfort. Old toys (such as the jodel court with marbles) serves as decoration. Walking around the island is recommended, we saw many birds such as the grutto, kievit and tureluur). Recommended!

We really enjoyed Jim's guest house with its interesting setting. A very hospitable host greeted us. Bunnies were running around on the lawn and ducks were swimming in the canal. The general atmosphere is very conducive to relaxation. Natalya from Kazakhstan

We enjoyed the stay 100%! Serge is the perfect host, accommodating, but always reserved, polite, friendly, helpful - we were just fulfilled every wish and nothing was missing in this luxurious, absolutely thoughtful place. High-quality appliances in the top equipped kitchen (salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, baking paper, aluminum& plastic wrap, etc.), cozy sofa & toilet, nice bathroom, it was nice and warm (in cool April). We were able to wash our laundry and also let it dry in the dryer. In front of the windows were screens, good blackout curtains in the bedroom and nice screen during the day. You can park right in front of the property in a large parking lot, the car is always in view from the living room & kitchen. We will be back! See you soon Serge and thank you for the lovely holiday.

Thank you Vera for being a great host, we had a wonderful stay with you on our first visit to the Netherlands! A perfect location for travel to Amsterdam, zaanse schan, the beach & the surrounding area. Our children loved the play park & football pitch up the street! Very peaceful village to come back to after days out and we was very lucky with the weather so could enjoy the garden area in the sunshine. Thank you for the delicious breakfasts!! Would highly recommend anyone to visit!!

We went on vacation to the Netherlands and stayed at Judith's house. She was always very attentive to us in case we needed anything, something to eat or whatever. She brought us plenty of food and was always very kind to us. The house is great and we were very comfortable. Thank you very much for everything, Judith!

The interior was spectacular. Just what i was looking for. The decor was the star of the house. Our group of 9 was very comfortable, especially sitting around the enormous dining table. The bathroom was not adequate for a large group and the bathroom basin too narrow. The attic room was only reachable by a steep ladder and could only be used by a young and fit person. on the other hand, the beds were comfortable and of good quality. In fact everything in the house was quality and that made the stay a success. Thank you Marike.

The house is located in a beautiful residential area and it is still not far to the center. There is a great organic supermarket nearby with delicious freshly baked bread, croissants, etc. By bike you can reach the beach in about 20 minutes or take a great tour of the beautiful dune landscape. Really nice area.

We had a wonderful stay in Joya and Roger's house. Lovely and comfortable house and excellent for children. Garden is also a highlight. Highly recommended for visitors to Alkmaar!

Very clean cottage, consistent with the photos. We did not lack anything, everything is provided, up to the pet treats. 👍🏻 Very nice neighborhood, several shops nearby. Train station is a 10-minute walk away. In short, everything was perfect.🤗 We had a pleasant stay.

We had a great week in this wonderful apartment. It was sparkling clean, cozy and the view was beautiful. You feel right at home. It has plenty of space to store your own things and everything you need as a family is available. It is very generously replenished with shower gel, toilet paper, dishwasher pads, tea, coffee, etc. We will be happy to come back and thank you for everything!!
