We will visit the main tourist attractions in downtown Rio de Janeiro, learning more about the city's history, local culture, and social issues. Your guide, besides having specialized training, has lived in the city since birth and closely follows the recent processes of urban transformation caused by both major events and changes in government. The tour will provide a local perspective on the controversies present in Brazil's main tourist capital. After all, is the city marvelous? From an aesthetic point of view, there is no doubt. But what can we say regarding the dynamics of social relations and their impacts on the urban organization of downtown? We will explore three major regions: Lapa, the Business District and the Port Area. Along the way, we will pass by landmarks such as the Selarón Staircase, Municipal Theater, Portuguese Reading Room, Colombo Cafe, Imperial Chapel, Bank of Brasil Art Center, Olympic Boulevard, Museum of the Future, among others. During the walk, we will encounter buildings that are true icons of Rio's architecture, but also bars, graffiti, occupations, and streets that hold within them the untold history found in books. Thus, each tour is a unique experience as the city constantly transforms itself.

Todo o percurso será recheado de informações históricas, dicas para aproveitar a cidade, e pausas para fotos e para apreciar a paisagem circundante. O passeio tem duração média de 3h (considerando as pausas para fotos e explicações) e no percurso é inevitável atravessar algumas ladeiras. Por isso, é importante ter fôlego e capacidade física para enfrentar subidas. Mas não precisa assustar, pois o ritmo da caminhada é determinado por você e seguindo suas limitações, ok? Para uma experiência mais agradável, grupos com mais de seis pessoas serão divididos em dois: um guiado por mim e outro guiado pelo Pedro, meu coanfitrião.

We are passionate about sailing and would love to share with you the unique feeling of being silently pushed by the winds and gliding over the waters of Rio through the magic of sailing. Come explore our favorite routes under sail and appreciate Rio from a different angle. We will sail from the foothills of Sugar Loaf to many other locations. You will be able to contemplate Corcovado hill, its statue of Christ The Redeemer, as well as many other landmarks, as we progress. If you are interested, sit next to me and I will teach you some sailing tricks. If not, just sit back, grab a drink, and some snacks while we sail along Botafogo and Flamengo beaches, Santa Teresa, Centro, the fortresses of Santa Cruz, and São João, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and Boa Viagem island, to mention a few. We may plan a stop for swimming depending on prevailing conditions. Sailing in the open ocean is possible only when the seas are calm. The safety and comfort of all are our top priorities.

Let's get to know Lapa neighborhood and enjoy Caipirinhas and all the nightlife. First we go to the Rooftop of Hotel Selina to see the incredible view of Lapa Arches. After that we will follow to the famous Selarón Steps. Let's visit Cachaça House, to taste different types of Cachaça and then go to a Samba live show. We will finish in a nightclub with a DJ playing lots of Brazilian and international music.

Pedra do Sal is one of the nicest spots in the area known as Little Africa. This cradle of Carioca samba has become a paradise for those who like to mix history with beer, youth, samba, and nightlife. All of this takes place in front of a large rock with a carved staircase, Pedra do Sal, a heritage listed in 1984. The staircase gives access to Morro da Conceição. This area of Porto Maravilha is called Little Africa because it was a point of sale and exchange for slaves and shelter for quilombos. There, the salt from the ships that docked in the port was unloaded, the origin of the meeting of dockers sambistas. We'll meet at a specific location near Pedra do Sal to have a moment of community and I'll take you to the heart of samba in Rio de Janeiro. Get ready to explore some live samba music, get tips about street food and drinks, and meet genuine local people. We will watch the match in the best spot of Maracanã! In the middle of the field in seated places! Selarón Staircase: We will start at the base where we will know the history of this wonderful work built by Chilean artist Jorge Selarón for 20 years. During the tour I will point out interesting details sent by tourists from different countries who were placed on the staircase to create a multicolored mosaic. I met the artist in person and I have a painting painted by him. A curiosity is that in the self-portraits he is always “pregnant” and the women who appear are the representation of an ex-girlfriend. We will make photo stops in the most beautiful locations where we will continue to observe details uploaded from different locations around the world. At the top of the stairs we will photograph with a huge representation of the Brazilian flag in the background more than 6 meters wide. And we'll still have a nice art view from Lapa. Ipanema: We will start the tour next to the statue that honors Tom Jobim, conductor author of the music Garota de Ipanema, on Avenida Vieira Souto, right at the end of Arpoador. We will take you to live a unique experience in Belo Horizonte, washed down by the best coffees in our city. We will start our tourist-cultural tour at Praça do Papa, where the meeting point will be at the monument of the cross, passing by Praça da Bandeira, making a delicious stop at a Minas Gerais warehouse to taste a strained coffee and one of the best cheese breads in Minas General. We will follow our “Rolê” down Avenida Afonso Pena, stopping at an observation deck to enjoy a cold brew and contemplate an unprecedented view that, for sure, will awaken the photographer that exists in you! We will end the tour with a brunch at one of the places listed in 2019, by several cultural and gastronomic sites, as one of the best in the city. The “Rolê” always takes place on Saturdays, from 9 am to 1 pm, and may extend a little longer if you want to continue enjoying the brunch.
