Incredibly worthwhile. Michael has deep knowledge of Japanese culture, history and religion from living here for over a decade. We learned so much about the Geisha traditions and were lucky enough to see a Geisha during our tour. Kyoto is stunning and mystical and Michael brought it to life for us. I also appreciated how organized and responsive he was! Highly recommend.

This is an amazing tour! This is truly Michael’s passion and it shows as he talks and shares the area with you. Communication before and after the tour was quick and easy. We were a little nervous about booking a tour with someone that wasn’t Japanese, but Michael has lived in Japan for 11 years and is married to a Japanese woman and loves history on top of that. His knowledge was extensive. We asked many questions along the tour that were related to the area and to other things that we have seen and done on our trip in Japan and he kindly and expertly answered all of them. He also connected the sites in Kyoto with larger Japanese history and the other areas we had visited. His knowledge of Geshia and their history and current community was such a wonderful education. He also offered up several restaurant recommendations, which were really wonderful eating experiences on their own, and we would not have found them without him. Such a great evening. Don’t hesitate to book.
