Surrounded by wild coast, ancient land and protected wetlands. Wild swim at the beautiful beach only a 150m from your doorstep.

Beautifully converted using natural building materials, the space is light, peaceful and open, heated with a cosy wood burner. The interior is handmade, restored or salvaged by us.

We provide sourdough, homemade jam, a homemade tipple & a few staples on arrival.

The space
The Boathouse is an intimate and private loft space. Filled the natural light and stunning timeless views allowing guests to feel relaxed and calm. The open space has all you need, a kitchen, living area, bedroom, separate bathroom and an additional hot outdoor shower. Downstairs is the original boat store, which is not in use while guests are in the boathouse.

Nestled in wild land and wetlands right on the coast, the surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. Perfect for a quiet retreat from busy life.

Spend your days at the boathouse wandering down to the beach for wild swims, walk our own meandering coastal view paths, exploring local hikes and allowing nature to soak in. Enjoy evenings playing games and reading by the fire or take the portable fire pit down to the beach for a memorable fire under the carpet of bright stars in our dark west cork skies.

We believe in ‘Leave No Trace’. Implementing environmentally friendly principles wherever possible and using renewable energies. Also to protect this special environment we have installed a modern ceramic compost loo.

Guest access
The top floor of the Boathouse is entirely yours with an outside sitting area and your own parking space. For most of the year you will have the beach to yourself. You are welcome to explore our land along winding paths to get the beautiful coastal views and last of the days sun.

Make your own breakfast at your own pace…. We offer a delicious West Cork produce breakfast box which you can order before you arrive or anytime during your stay. Details sent before check in.

Beach Saunas every weekend at Tralispean (shantisauna) and every Sunday just around the corner at Tragumna (sunrisesauna) or Lough Hyne (westcorksauna)

Myself and husband Joe have lovely young kids keeping us busy and are proud stewards of eight acres of wild land by the sea. Also Joe makes Windsor chairs and I work as a cheese consultant Our background is farming, we used to produce raw milk whey starter goats cheese using milk from our own herd. We are practical creatives excited and motivated by slow food, organic and regenerative farming and rewilding.
