Coffee shop ambiance like nowhere else, nestled in a courtyard at the American Club. Outside its stained glass walls, we recommend you sip your latte on a bench swing in the beautiful garden and listen to the sounds the picturesque fountain.

Our favorite place to eat is just a few minutes bike ride away, just down the road, through the park, over the biking/walking suspension bridge, and you're into downtown.

The pork chimichanga packs amazing flavor on a flour tortilla with just a hint of crispness. They even have a cheesecake version of the chimichanga for dessert.

The world's tallest symbol of freedom. You can stand at the base and look 400 feet up at a flag that would cover almost half a football field. Park benches by the nearby pond make it a nice place to relax and enjoy.

A walk atop the breakwater out to the lighthouse is the scenic highlight of a visit to the north and south piers where the Sheboygan River flows into Lake Michigan. For a casual stroll to the lighthouse along the north pier, start at the Weather Center Cafe (and have some coffee or a snack if you'd like), and walk along river on the boardwalk and then north along the marina shoreline. To explore the south pier, a good place to start is the very end of S Pier Dr. From there, you can explore up the river, stopping by places like South Pier Parlor for ice cream and Harbor Pointe Miniature Golf. There are also picturesque trails south along Lake Michigan past Blue Harbor Resort.

Beautiful overview of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Hike the area any time of year, but don't miss the sea of color in fall.

Hike the ladder trails along Lake Michigan sand dunes, or if it's hot out, go for a swim. The beaches are beautiful and seem to stretch forever. We're pretty far north here, so unless there's a warm current or you're pretty hardy, an inland lake such as Mauthe Lake, Elkhart Lake, or Random Lake is a cozier choice.

This beach is further away, but it's our favorite inline lake. Part of Mauthe Lake State Park, it has beautiful pine trees for shade along the back side of the beach, concessions on the weekends, and beautiful trails for hiking and biking. Well worth the trip.
