K-drama-inspired night of Korean BBQ and karaoke

Experience the heart of Korean after-work socializing with an evening inspired by the iconic 회식 (hoesik) tradition—a mix of food, drinks, and camaraderie straight out of a K-drama. Enjoy dining, drinking, and singing at local hangouts in the lively Yongsan neighborhood. In true hoesik fashion, we will visit three different locations. • Start with an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ feast featuring tender meats, fresh vegetables, and signature dipping sauces. Try somaek, a popular mix of beer and soju loved by locals and learn popular Korean drinking games. • Sip on makgeolli, traditional Korean rice wine, at the next stop, paired with Korean-style pancakes, or jeon, a classic anju (drinking food). • End the night at a noraebang (karaoke bar), singing your favorite English or K-pop songs in a private room. Immerse yourself in a night of Korean-style dining, drinks, and music, capturing the spirit of a true hoesik tradition. Due to the nature of this tour, it may be difficult to accommodate food allergies or special requests. Alcohol will be served in limited quantities to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Note: A minimum of three guests is required. If the minimum isn't met, the experience will be canceled.

Craft traditional Korean pottery with a ceramicist

Experience the beauty of Korean pottery through a hands-on class where you can draw dancheong— an art of intricate patterns and vibrant colors often used in Korean architecture. You’ll create a small mug or a small jewelry box and explore the traditions of Korean ceramics, including • Learn to craft a small ceramic piece, step by step, from raw clay to the finished piece. Or you can also choose one of my studio-designed small ceramics. • Decorate a matching lid with one of your favorite dancheong patterns that is used in my art therapy program. • Sip Korean tea and enjoy the creative atmosphere of my studio. Once your small ceramic pieces are glazed and placed in the kiln, the process—from firing to cooling—can take three to seven days, depending on the schedule. The full cycle, including preparation and final unloading, typically takes two to three weeks. Note: You can arrange to pick up your finished art piece, or request overseas delivery for an additional shipping fee. If you wish to confirm your pick up date, pls contact me in advance.

Hi. I am Jeongju Helen Kim. In this workshop, I will not only teach you how to write beautifully, but also how to experience the joy of carving a handcrafted seal. You will create a design using your name. During this activity, your mind will relax and you will experience healing through the slow analog, tactile sensibility of everyday life. I will teach you how to design and carve your name with a engraving knife on a small stone. First, I shows two ways to engrave the seal and demonstrates how to carve with a carving tool.(straight line, circles, etc.) Then I helps you learn to hold the engraving tool and practice properly. Next, I show the way to design the names and help to design according to syllable of name. You go for it and then cover with ink of Korean style and take a stamp. Once the engraving is over, you can choose a elegant case for your stone seal. It will be an opportunity to rethink the meaning of your name that you have forgotten while carving the seal. When you return home, you'll enjoy looking at the stamp you carved and remembering your travels. I'll write down a message for you in K-calligraphy after you have stamp your seal on a card I prepare. My program has also been featured on Watcher an American YouTube channel as of August 2024. -Public transportation is convenient. -Even a 9-year-old can join.

Samhae soju was a beloved choice of spirit among the noble class of Joseon dynasty(1392~1894) and this luxury soju had a cult following. The current master, Hyeonjong Kim, had learned and practiced for more than 10 years under master Taeksang Kim who had inherited and kept the recipe in the family.
