Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Some info has been automatically translated.
The Birds Nest is an above-the-garage studio apartment with a view of the valley and our working farm. Located at the end of a quiet dirt road, our 36 acres provide a respite for the body and soul with trails and vistas, and engage the mind in sustainable agriculture with a discount on our Farm Tour & Tasting.

Easy access to both Grand Rapids and the lakeshore's farm-to-table restaurants, shopping and attractions.

The space
A working farm that has been in our family for over 120 years located on the southern half of Mud Lake. Please be aware that this is a farm, and we do have a well for our drinking water. It will not smell like chlorine (like municipal water), but is tested regularly and is completely safe. We have a whole-house water softener, a filter on the shower, and reverse osmosis water in the kitchen.

The Bird's Nest has 1 queen-sized bed and 1 full-sized futon. While it can acommodate up to 4 guests, it is most comfortable for 2.

We've listed as not suitable for children under 12 (Airbnb's age window for this option) due to an open staircase in the listing (see photos for reference). Please let us know if you plan to bring younger children, and take whatever precautions you feel are necessary.

Guest access
The Bird's Nest has its own entry and has a full kitchen, with coffee maker and several types of teas. Guests are welcome to wander the property; walk thru our old growth forest, sit by the lake and see the wilds of nature. The lake is not swim-friendly, but is a great place to bird-watch.

Other things to note
We offer both public and private group tours of our farm which include a tasting of our cordials (flavored syrups). As our guests, you'll receive a discount code for 50% off one of our tours for your group. You'll also receive four of our farm-crafted sodas to sample (in the fridge).

We've recently upgraded our WiFi to hi-speed, great for any online work you may need to do during your stay. We do not have cable or satellite TV, but our TV gets most local digital stations, and includes a Roku (please plan to use your own account for any paid subscriptions).

Lives in Hudsonville, Michigan
We have a small farm in west Michigan, where we focus on sustainability and regenerative agriculture, growing a variety of things, like arctic kiwi, elderflowers, hazelnuts, and ginger. We also make small batch cordials (flavored syrups) from the elderflowers, ginger, chamomile, and other things we grow, which we sell and use to make sodas. We are laid-back travelers, and enjoy getting off the beaten track to meet people and enjoy local food.
