Sand Dollar is a quiet little loft perched right on the edge of the Caribbean Sea, where village life meets the rhythm of the waves. Tucked into the heart of Hopkins Village, this one-bedroom beachfront retreat is a place to slow down, settle in, and feel connected to both the ocean and the community around you.
Mornings begin with sea breezes and wide-open water views. Step onto the elevated beachfront balcony with a cup of coffee and watch the day unfold fishermen passing by, neighbors greeting one another, the gentle sound of waves just below. The balcony is perfect for outdoor meals, sunset drinks, or simply sitting still and listening.
Inside, the loft is simple, cozy, and thoughtfully designed for comfort. It’s an ideal space for couples or solo travelers looking for a relaxed, authentic Belize experience without distractions.
Sand Dollar sits right in the village center, so everything is close. Local restaurants, beach bars, shops, and cultural spots are all within walking distance. Hopkins is known for its Garifuna culture, warm hospitality, music, and incredible food and staying here makes it easy to experience it all naturally, just by stepping outside.
Evenings in the village are alive. You may hear music, karaoke, or neighborhood dogs as the night winds down. This is part of village life, and for lighter sleepers, earplugs are provided to help ensure a good night’s rest.

You’ll be staying in the heart of Hopkins Village, surrounded by real local life. Neighbors pass by, nearby restaurants and bars bring a lively energy, and guests from neighboring cabanas may share the beach. Everyone is friendly and respectful, and this vibrant atmosphere is part of what makes Hopkins special.
Getting Around
Driving on the sand directly in front of the property is allowed. One-way signs in the village are often treated as two-way, so please drive slowly and carefully.
Parking
On-site parking is available for up to two vehicles. Upon arrival, park in front of the main house. To reach the designated area, drive along the beach past the first cabanas toward Sealyfe Cabanas at the far end.

Good to Know
Village sounds: Music, karaoke, or dogs may be heard at night. Earplugs are provided.

Beach & Nature
Sandflies and mosquitoes can be present, especially at sunrise and sunset. Insect repellent, light long sleeves, and keeping doors and windows closed during peak times are recommended.
Construction Notice
Hopkins is growing, and occasional nearby construction may occur. If noise becomes disruptive during your stay, please let us know and we’ll do our best to help.
Sargassum
Sargassum seaweed may occasionally appear on the beach. Our team works hard to keep the area clean, but this is a natural occurrence beyond our control.
Money & ATMs
The exchange rate is $2 BZD to $1 USD. U.S. dollars are widely accepted. Credit cards are accepted at most tourist-focused businesses, though some local spots are cash-only. An ATM is located at the village entrance.
Guest access
Access. to the loft and the beachfront and use of loungers and other beach toys in the fun-shed as well as the bicycles.
Other things to note
We are in the heart of the village, you'll experience local culture and get a chance to meet the friendly people of Hopkins. We are also near some great Hopkins restaurants and bars, you may hear them on busy nights in the village.

Note for Families with Babies or Toddlers:
If you're bringing babies or toddlers along, please ensure they are wearing diapers when sitting on the couch or sleeping on the beds. If the bed linens, mattresses, or towels are severely stained or damaged due to urine or feces, a deep cleaning fee of $200 USD will be charged.

Getting to Hopkins:
There are a couple of options.
- Rent a car at the International Airport (BZE) and drive. Its a very straightforward drive on decent roads that takes about an hour and 45 min. We recommend Crystal Auto
- Take a 15 min flight on either Maya Air or Tropic Air from BZE to Dangriga. From there one of several shuttle services (we recommend Julian Transfers) will take you the 30 ish minutes to our place.
Our two cents is renting a car is better - there's a lot to do in the area and a car can be pretty handy.
