Villa Rosa, an elegant late 19th century mansion, located in the historic village of Prato Leventina, was restructured in 2014 and renovated in 2022 into 3 apartments, 2 of which are available to vacationers, the 3rd being occupied by the owners.
The region lends itself just as well to summer vacations as to winter sports activities for families, athletes, hikers or for anyone who wants to experience a unique stay close to nature.

The space
Located on the 2nd floor, this attic apartment (110 m2) can accommodate up to 6 people:

• 1 living room
• 3 bedrooms (2 double beds, 2 single beds)
• 1 bathroom
• 1 eat-in kitchen

The entrance corridor leads you to the spacious attic living room, equipped with a 55-inch flat-screen 4K TV with access to Netflix, Apple TV and Swisscom TV (with your personal account).

The warm and comfortable "rattan" style furniture allows everyone to find their ease. A large Velux offers views of the mountains. This same entrance corridor leads you to the other rooms of the apartment, namely:

• Two bright bedrooms with a king size double bed (180 × 200 cm), in addition to a table and 2 armchairs, one is equipped with a private sink, the other with a small work desk

• A bedroom with 2 single beds (90 × 200 cm), 2 armchairs and a small table

• A bathroom equipped with a shower and hairdryer

• A kitchen equipped and furnished with a dining table. In addition to the ceramic stove, oven, fridge and dishwasher, you will find a microwave oven, coffee machine (beans or ground coffee), toaster and all the dishes necessary for your stay.

The rustic interior design offers comfort and benefits from all modern amenities.

Guest access
Villa Rosa is accessible by public transport, either by train to Ambri or Faido, then by bus to Prato Leventina.
Bus stop is a 1-minute walk from Villa Rosa. On request we will be happy to pick you up from the station in Ambri or Faido.

If you're interested in joining us by car, a free parking space awaits you.

Other things to note
Outside, a large area common to the 2 rented apartments is available, either:

• A large gravel terrace with its granite table and stunning views of the valley
• A furnished pergola
• A gas grill and brazier
• Sun loungers and a lounge area
• A secure bicycle shed.

There's no doubt that everyone will find their place and can, if they wish, share friendly moments in good company.

Neighborhood highlights

The picturesque village of Prato Leventina (1043 m above sea level), is one of the hamlets of the municipality of Prato Leventina, which also includes Mascengo, Rodi, Morasco and Fiesso. The village occupied a strategic position on the transit routes, as evidenced by the remains of the medieval tower, which became the parish house in 1790. The first mentions of the church of San Giorgio, which overlooks the village, date back to 1210. The development of the railway and transit routes in the Leventina valley in the 19th century shifted the center of the municipality towards the valley. The town hall and schools were built near the Dazio Grande and no longer in the hamlet of Prato Leventina. Prato, Mascengo and Dalpe are located in a green basin that has favored their development as tourist resorts. During the golden age of tourism in Faido, between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, many Milanese and Confederates chose Rodi to build their summer villas. The development of winter tourism began around 1950 with the creation of summer camp houses and the construction of secondary residences.

Things nearby:
• The Piottino Gorges are within walking distance of Villa Rosa from Dazio Grande. This is a discovery walk on a pleasant trail built at the end of the Middle Ages: a 1.2 km route that can be covered in 30 minutes, with information panels and fun activities to discover this historic transit route.
The Piottino Gorge road crosses the nearly 300 m elevation difference that separates Faido from Rodi. The gorge was carved by the force of water in the granite (Leventina gneiss) over thousands of years. The first to venture to build a road through these waterproof gorges were the Uranians in 1500. The canton of Uri derived up to 2/3 of its income from the payment of tolls at Dazio Grande.

- A 5-minute drive from Rodi is the cable car that provides access to Lake Tremorgio and its mountain (1851 m above sea level), the starting point for magnificent breathtaking hikes through the mountains of the Leventina Valley, characterized by 650 km of trails surrounded by greenery that can be walked on foot or by mountain bike.

• In Piotta, a 10-minute drive away, is the funicular (one of the steepest in the world) that will take you to Lake Ritom, the starting point for beautiful hikes.

• 15 minutes by car, in Airolo, summer and winter, you reach the ski lifts that take you to Pesciüm, the starting point for crazy days of skiing, mountain biking or walking. You are in the Gotthard region at the gates of the Bedretto valley.

• In summer, less demanding hikers can cool off at the foot of the Piumogna waterfall in Faido (10-minute drive) in a unique and splendid setting.
