Farm History:

Fazenda has belonged to the same family for 6 generations, having been founded by Antonio Alves Cardoso, in 1840, at the beginning of the coffee culture. At that time, the farm was the passage of the tropeiros that went to the south of Minas Gerais. To welcome the pilgrims from the region, the Chapel of Our Lady of Remedies was built in the year 1894.

The Chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios was built in 1894, in Brazilian colonial style, to receive the pilgrims of the region. The image of Our Lady of Remedies, which inhabits the altar, was brought from Portugal in fulfillment of a promise made by the lady of the farm, Jacinta Lanhoso, encouraging the devotion of the people of the region that remains alive until today with the holding of pilgrimages and parties on the dates related to the saint, also being the scene of baptisms and weddings.

Houses of the colonial period with its preserved historical characteristics, a material heritage of Fazenda Pereiras founded in 1840 by the then tropeiro Antônio Alves Cardoso who started planting coffee with slave labor. 17 years ago, agroecological management began, with organic planting, in a management of agriculture and regenerative design. Forest view, organic fields, excellent for wildlife watching. Land and sky connection getaways.

In 1906, José Joaquim Lanhoso set up a dry and wet and mobile store to serve the Pereiras Neighborhood, taking advantage that the Itatiba road to nearby cities such as Morungaba, Amparo and Serra Negra, passed in the middle of the farm.

Around 1950, a Municipal School of Elementary School was installed next to the Church, to serve the education of children in the region. Its operation lasted until the mid-1980s.

In 2003, the farm began the transition to organic agriculture, free of pesticides and pesticides, seeking to promote healthier, biodiverse food and environmental conservation.

It is the commitment to people, the land and the Earth that moves the Pereiras Farm, a property rich in history and biodiversity that works with the multifunctionality of agriculture and the landscape, that is, in addition to the primary function of producing healthy food, carries out several activities seeking to strengthen the rural area as a whole, promote regenerative development and conserve nature and local history.
