Rio Rancho Verde, a 55 acre Ecoranch on the edge of the National Forest, offers a Western ranch experience close to Scottsdale in the midst of the scenic Sonoran Desert. Our remote location offers privacy, peace and serenity from the hustle/bustle of city life.
The space
The Casa Rio Rancho at Rio Rancho Verde, offers an eco-experience on 62 secluded acres at an authentic Arizona ranch surrounded by serene and spectacular scenery. Private 2 bedroom suite with pool, outdoor kitchen and separate entrance. VRBO selected us (one of 5 out of 3500 vacation rentals in Scottsdale) to film a YouTube social media promotion and Hulu and Amazon Prime have also shot here on location for a Western and cooking series! We're located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, surrounded by mountain views and vistas, saguaros, sunsets and spectacular, breathtaking scenery. We're committed to supporting a sustainable environment - we reduce, reuse and recycle and hope you will too! We offer a secluded and serene getaway on the edge of the Tonto National Forest. This relaxing alternative to the fast pace of city life is a welcome retreat in a rural, Western setting, complete with horses, barns and a boarding facility, as well as an organic garden - help yourself to seasonal veggies and herbs! We offer a private 2 bedroom suite (one room has a queen bed, the other has twin beds) with its own bathroom (attached to the house, but separate and private, divided by an insulated wall with no access to the house). Both rooms have their own private entrance and open to the pool and an outdoor kitchen which includes a bar area with frig, microwave, sink, convection oven and outdoor BBQ, island with cooktop, fireplace and plenty of seating (seats 55 people), overlooking the pool and the desert beyond. Please note, the kitchen and seating space is completely outdoors, the suite itself consists of the 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a hallway and a small desk area. All other spaces (seating, kitchen, lounging space) are completely outside. The dining area, lounge area and part of the kitchen are under a patio cover. Rate is based on 2 people and includes both bedrooms. Additional guests are welcome at a rate of $89 per night for the 2nd bedroom - maximum of 4 guests total (all in the same party). Sorry, no toddlers and kids by pre-approval only, in advance. An additional cleaning fee will be applied for parties over two people. Come out and hike, bike or ride a horse (ours are not available to ride but you can bring your own or make a reservation to ride at the stable down the road). rentals available down the road). Or, just relax and recharge while watching the spectacular sunsets on the ridge overlooking the mountains and desert vistas. Rental bikes are available in town and can be delivered to the property. Enjoy a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the pool as the sun goes down, or sip your morning coffee in the barn as the horses wait for their breakfast. Suite is available with either one or two bedrooms, one bathroom total. This is truly a unique and very special place, we hope to share it with you!

Pets are welcome (no cats please) and there is a $75 pet fee. All dogs/horses must be current on shots and vaccinations. Sorry, not suitable for toddlers and no kids without pre-approval in advance. No unauthorized guests, only guests listed on the reservation are allowed (unless approved in advance). Finally, if you’re looking for nightlife and a lively bar scene, we're probably not the place for you - the only ones out here howling at the moon are the coyotes.

The pool, outdoor kitchen with sink, BBQ with one cooktop, convection oven/air fryer, microwave, frig and island counter, fireplace, back patio and pool deck are all yours to enjoy! This space is private just for your use. And feel free to explore the rest of the ranch at your leisure! Note: Pool is not heated. And, no TV!
Other things to note
We also board horses and offer space for those wishing to spend time exploring the Arizona desert. We're a small facility, and the private bedroom suite is available for those with and without horses! It's a true ranch experience, remotely located but offering all the conveniences of Scottsdale or the Wild West towns of Cave Creek and Carefree, just a short drive away. We've got incredible trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding right outside our gate.
Also, if the private bedroom casita is booked, please check out our other listings at the ranch, we have an upscale Western bunkhouse and a luxury brand new travel trailer that also may be available. Verizon works best, Sprint, ATT and TMobile are spotty.
Sorry, no cats. Dogs are welcome, a $75 fee is in addition. Not suitable for toddlers, kids over 12 are allowed only by pre-approval in advance. Adults only January through April.
Please note: 2 night minimum stay. We do not allow parties, weddings or events. We will forward directions prior to your arrival. Please print these out and follow them, as Mapquest and your GPS may not give you the correct directions. Please note that the last 2 miles of our road is a well maintained and graded dirt road. Also it's very dark out here - there's no streetlights within miles and lighting on the property is limited to the public areas. We try to be mindful of the Dark Skies Ordinance.
