Important Note About Our Neighborhood – Please Read Before Booking
Our home is located in a vibrant, diverse, and very urban neighborhood near the heart of Kansas City. It's a culturally rich area, full of character and home to many ethnic communities, which we love and believe adds to the unique charm of staying here. The location makes it easy to access incredible international food, music, art, and history - some of the best the city has to offer.
However, as with any city-center neighborhood, it's important to understand the dynamics of urban life. You may hear typical city sounds (sirens, fireworks, or street activity) especially during evenings or weekends in warmer months. This is not unusual for a major metropolitan area. The feel of Kansas City can shift quickly from block to block. While we always encourage guests to research any area they're visiting (including ours) we also provide honest, upfront info to help avoid surprises or last-minute cancellations due to unfamiliarity with urban settings. We are happy to offer local crime maps after booking to assist you in making informed decisions.
Please note: While our specific block has always been safe for us (this is our part-time home) and our over 2,000 past guests over 5+ years have never experienced a single issue (no theft, harassment, hit-and-run, or harm of any kind), we understand that safety can feel subjective. That said, we will not offer refunds based on a guest’s personal perception of safety when it does not reflect actual incidents.
We will consider reimbursement in combination with an official police report of an incident that occurred to yourself or your property during your stay.
We take guest safety seriously, but we are responsible only for the home itself, not for the broader neighborhood. Discriminatory or racially charged comments or reviews will not be tolerated under any circumstance. Feeling unsafe because of the presence of local residents (particularly based on race, age, or appearance) is not a valid reason for a refund and goes against our values and Airbnb's policies.
We want every guest to have a wonderful experience, and that starts with having the right expectations. If you have questions or need help understanding the area better before booking, feel free to reach out.
