Casita at Bosque Cottage, a Mini Eco-Retreat

MargaretRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Our stay could not have been better or more comfortable. My husband and I stayed in the casita for two weeks while visiting our son who lives nearby. The casita is beautifully appointed, esthetically and architecturally pleasing and practical. We especially enjoyed the private outdoor area which was comfortable both for morning coffee and early evening outdoor dinner (pizza from the nearby vineyard). We didn't cook in the casita, but having the vineyards, the pizza, and co-op so close by made it easy to get a quick take-out meal or tasty dinner. Rachel and Bart were very attentive and responded to queries and requests quickly. The shower/bath is lovely and comfortable. My husband and I both tend to get backaches from inferior mattresses and we very much appreciated the firm mattress in the loft. Can't say enough good things. It's a lovely place, just perfect for two people to relax and enjoy. We plan to return and rent again!

Blue Bird Farm Taos - Hotub/AC - Long/Short term

MeganRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Sanjay’s house was perfect for our visit to the area. We were there for a wedding at The Stakeout. Everything was about a 15-20 minute drive (Stakeout, The Gorge bridge, restaurants). Ski valley was even a beautiful drive at only ~30 minutes. A great location! There was a lot of space to spread out in the house and not feel cramped. Overall - beautiful views, great location, awesome host.

Perfect Home for a Quiet Getaway or Ski Vacation

CaraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
The house was clean and beautiful, located close to town but far enough away to feel peaceful and private. We especially enjoyed the views, and the hot tub was lovely to use at night. Tommy was a great host: he was proactive at communicating and had all information for the rental in the app as well as a book in the house. I would definitely stay here again!

We spent six nights at Brian’s place and loved it. Kitchen is well appointed, bathroom was very clean. Additionally, the hot tub was a great amenity, and we used it frequently. More importantly, the lodge is very close to Arroyo Seco, an adorable village replete with cafes, unique shopping, a small grocery store, and ice cream! Highly recommend!

This home is located on a private street, within 15 minutes of the Plaza on foot. The home is charming, with a central kitchen and two bedrooms located on opposite sides of the home. Great artwork, too. The outdoor spaces are relaxing, especially the fenced-off hot tub area. We used this space both nights. I would recommend a stay.

El Prado Home with a View & Hot Tub

D.J.Rating, 5 stars1 month ago
It was a perfect place that is away from the town but close enough to go to grab food. The stargazing was unbelievable, the hot tub was amazing, and the house was very neat and tidy and clean. Note that all the bedrooms were upstairs so if that is an issue for anyone then have alternative plans. I would definitely recommend this home for anyone to stay at. Great stay!

El Prado Casa Charm

LucyRating, 5 stars4 days ago
We loved our stay at Jane‘s sweet condo. A short drive north of Taos, the condo property was peaceful and beautiful. The condo itself was neat, tidy and clean as a whistle. The kitchen was well stocked, the king size bed was very comfy and everything was in great working order. The beautifully furnished private outside balcony was a bonus. There is a Hot Tub on the property which we were also able to enjoy. Jane was very prompt at communicating and provided a book with everything you need to know on the kitchen counter. This property was great find! I highly recommend it. We will definitely return! Thanks for a wonderful stay Jane!

Tiny Home Boxcar Sanctuary 1898

CynthiaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The boxcar was charming, cozy, private and serene. It was exactly as it seemed in the photos, with the addition of very kind and friendly hosts in Jean and Stephen. The bed was cozy and comfortable, and the tub was divine. The surroundings were so peaceful and beautiful. It was the perfect place for a personal retreat. It was nice also to have the outdoor area to myself. The tiny kitchen was very functional and my hosts provided a variety of coffees, half and half, and homemade granola. It was especially nice to visit the hot tub at night to see the Milky Way. Though it felt very secluded, it was a super short drive to everything I wanted to do in Taos. Altogether a fabulous, restorative stay. I'd recommend it to couples and solo travelers alike.

The Red Earth Palace Retreat

MichaelRating, 5 stars3 days ago
Kat and Massimo’s place is absolutely wonderful. The house is so unique in its craftsmanship, design and utilitarian function. The high countertops and super deep jacuzzi tub were a riot. It made our vacation all the more fun. It’s definitely not something to fret over. Their land is beautiful and rugged. Stellar hiking opportunities into the gorge right at their doorstep. We hiked up to Williams Lake in the Taos Mountains which was spectacular but the hike into the gorge with its astonishingly carved rock formations was unforgettable. Stargazing in the hot tub, observing an abundance of shooting stars streaking the night sky was the icing on the cake….and we had a lot of cake. Thank you for sharing your wonderful piece of life with us, Kat and Massimo!!!! We hope to be back for another adventure in the future!

What an amazing Casita! Close to everything but incredibly private and peaceful. Tara was a gracious, attentive host. She met us to make sure all was well. This place had all the little touches upon arrival, breakfast (scones, orange juice, milk) for the next morning, fresh flowers, a well appointed kitchen and bathroom with all the ammenities. Nothing was not thought of. The hot tub was amazing!

Beautiful loft studio minutes from Taos Ski Valley

JoshuaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Such a beautiful and scenic location! The backyard off the balcony with the river and trees was so calming for me. Having a kitchen and living room was great, too bedroom is a little hard to get up to just bc the stairs are so shallow, but what a COMFY bed! Love that it wasn’t really up in the ski valley but sort of right before you get there. Would happily stay here again!

Your guide to Red River

All About Red River

A little over a 40-minute drive from funky Taos, Red River offers small-town charm amid the sweeping Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Its quaint downtown is home to historic wooden cabins, a pine lodge, and a schoolhouse built in 1915, which is now a museum. The town hosts an annual chili cookoff in August, and during warm months, locals and visitors alike are invited to watch outdoor movies on the Community House lawn. Hiking, biking, and off-roading are available in this former mining town turned mountain playground, but Red River is undeniably best known as a ski retreat. It is a cozy base for snow bunnies who disappear into the powdery peaks every year for long days of wintry fun.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Red River

Summers are warm in Red River, with temperatures in the mid 70s Fahrenheit and cool nights. Spring and fall are mild, with temperatures ranging from the high 60s to low 40s, and winter is cold, with temperatures in the single digits. Of course, you’re likely here for the snow during winter — expect lots, and pack accordingly.

Top things to do in Red River

Red River Ski Area

You can catch a chairlift ride into this ski park just a few steps from downtown, and then spend the day swishing down ski runs suitable for all skill levels. Novices can explore a ski-through replica mining camp while daredevils tackle the curvy Cats Skinner run. If skiing and snowboarding aren’t your thing, tubing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling are also offered.

During the summer the park remakes itself, offering scenic chairlift rides to hiking trails, a ropes course, ziplining, and disc golf.

Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway

This picturesque 84-mile drive looping around Wheeler Peak, at 13,000-some feet the highest natural point in New Mexico, runs right through Red River. A roughly three-hour drive, the route will carry you through mountain ranges, forests, and lush river valleys. Along the way you can make stops in off-the-beaten-path locales like rugged Questa — which hosts a four-day plein air painting festival every July for artists of all skill levels — and buzzier hubs like Taos, as renowned for its adobe architecture as for its New Age proclivities.

Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument

Drive just 40 minutes north to experience a prime example of New Mexico’s dramatic Southwestern landscape. Covering over 240,000 acres of land, this rugged and beautiful terrain is a patchwork of expansive plains, volcanic cones, and deep canyons. The legendary Rio Grande — the fourth longest river in the US — slices through an 800-foot-deep gorge here. The possibilities for outdoor fun include hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, and fishing. During the summer months, check the park’s website for a schedule of free ranger-led walks.
