Casa+Guesthouse Paloma Azul /Patio+ Pool+Treehouse

LiviaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We loved our stay at Gary's, for us it was perfect. As we like to avoid the busy touristy areas like the northern part of the island, we loved staying here in this little haven where we could watch the locals play baseball just around the corner. The place itself feels very comfortable with a wonderful back yard. Everything is cared for and well maintained. Located at the centre of the island it is easy to get to the wonderful spots at the Southern end of the island or spend some time on the white beaches on the North.

A Fabulous Poolside Condo with Amazing Ocean View

JoelRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We stayed here for part of our stay while in isla mujeres and honestly we should have stayed there the whole time. The place was peaceful and the view was amazing. The space is larger than it seems in photos. A/c was cold and we slept very well. We will definitely stay here again when we get back.

NAJO ' Oceanfront / Oceanfront VILLAS!!

MarleenRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We had a great time staying at Villas Najo. We basically had the place for ourselves, due to August being low season. The rooms are spacious and we loved the shower and the bedroom with the view right onto the beach and the ocean. The place is exactly as described on AirBnB. The place has an infinity pool with view onto the ocean, unfortunately you can only use it from 8am to 8pm. Best sunrises in the morning and the beach outside is packed with turtles at night. Sea urchins in the water, bring swim shoes. The place is mid island and we would recommend getting some kind of transportation otherwise it's too far to walk with the heat. We stayed for 13 days and over time rubbish builds up, we would recommend bringing some extra bin bags, as there are no extra in the AirBnB.

Beautiful new and cozy apartment with pool!

KeithRating, 5 stars3 months ago
My son and I had an amazing stay at Carlo's place. It's located on the quiet side of the island amongst beautiful private homes and villas. Carlo was fantastic with his communication and Juan on-site was great and very helpful. The space was well-equipped with everything we needed including a large jug of fresh drinking water and it was perfect for us as we each had our room and privacy. We loved seeing and exploring the island everyday as we made the 15 minute gold cart drive to Centro, where many of the restaurants and shops geared towards tourists are located. Great place, amazing island... we can't wait to come back!

Your guide to Isla Mujeres

All About Isla Mujeres

A popular day trip for travellers to Cancún via a short ferry ride, Isla Mujeres is known for its postcard-perfect white sand beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters, and craggy cliffs that tower over the Caribbean Sea. Popular activities here range from lounging on the beach to zip-lining over the sea. Isla Mujeres — which means “Island of Women'' in Spanish — was named for the Mayan goddess Ixchel, and her legacy still looms large here. Take time to delve into ancient Mayan culture, visit the island’s famous ruins, or scope out traditional handicrafts at the market. That is, when you are not parked on a sun lounger at one of the best beaches in the world, or sipping a beverage with sunset views at your vacation rental in Isla Mujeres.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Isla Mujeres

There are very few bad days in Isla Mujeres, which enjoys a tropical, sunny climate year-round. Winter is the most popular season to visit, as warm weather and low humidity make for a welcome respite for snow-weary travelers. In the summer, temperatures and humidity spike, and you can expect intermittent rain from May through September. The weather gets chillier in November and December, although it is still warm and temperate by any standards. For real fiesta vibes, come for Carnaval, which takes place every year for five days before Ash Wednesday (dates change yearly). From August through October, head to Playa Guadalupana to witness (from a distance) baby sea turtles making their journey towards the sea.

Top things to do in Isla Mujeres

Playa Norte

Consistently ranked as one of the best beaches in the world, Playa Norte is at the top of most must-see lists. With sugar-white sand and swaying palms bordering the turquoise water, it is a screensaver come to life. Spend the day snorkeling and sun-tanning before watching the sun set from one of the many beachside restaurants and bars.

MUSA Underwater Art Museum

Between Cancún and Isla Mujeres, you’ll find this one-of-a-kind underwater sculpture park. Renowned Mexican artists were commissioned to create pieces from natural materials, which now sit on the ocean floor, amongst coral reefs. The aim of the project — which is still ongoing — is to increase the mass of the reefs in the area, and provide more habitats for native marine life. Go on a snorkeling sculpture tour, or see the art from above on a glass-bottomed boat.

Mayan art at Punta Sur

Isla Mujeres got its name from the Mayan goddess Ixchel, and statues of her likeness have been unearthed here dating back to the 1500s. Wind your way up the cliffs of Punta Sur, where you’ll find an open-air sculpture garden, with 23 pieces dedicated to the goddess of love, fertility, and the moon. Don’t miss the Temple of Ixchel, a beautifully preserved Mayan ruin, where young women used to pray to the goddess for their fertility.
