Downtown House-BEST ROOFTOP PATIO&HotTub in HFX

NancyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This rental was perfect for a multi family gathering. It was huge, inviting and comfortably set up and was easy to gather together or find privacy as needed. The beds were lovely and comfortable-we all slept very well. We loved the location: a quiet, residential corner of downtown but easily walkable to pubs, restaurants, grocery stores and the farmers market. Jay gave very clear instructions for location and parking and very quickly responded to any questions we had.

Owl & Otter

SarahRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had our wedding at Emily’s place. It was a small private ceremony with our families, some who came from far away. Everyone felt right at home. The trails on the property were great as well as the meditation deck. Emily gave us some great ideas for ceremony location and offering great alternatives when the weather turned. Our wedding felt very special and a large part of this was being at Owl and Otter.

One of the nicest streets in NS!

JessicaRating, 5 stars6 days ago
This place was exactly what we were looking for a Mom and daughter getaway. Our host was excellent. Quick to respond and helpful when trying to plan a day of site seeing. Only draw back was the only washroom was on the top floor. Would definitely recommend this place. Cozy, clean and central to what we were looking for.

Gorgeous Character Downtown Halifax 4 bedroom home

PamRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Stayed with family and loved the location. Sara was very responsive with any questions. Parking for our cars in the back but we walked everywhere. Great location - so close to restaurants, shops, and the ocean! Kitchen was well stocked and we had plenty of blankets. House is a an older Victorian home - beds were great and we all enjoyed our stay.

ZachRating, 5 stars3 days ago
Ken was nothing short of amazing. My sister lives 5 minutes away with her family, so the location was perfect. It was private, had everything I needed, and I was very happy with the overall experience. Any questions, or anything I needed Ken was super quick to respond and take care of it. I look forward to staying here again.

New! The Rose Retreat in Downtown Dartmouth

SarahRating, 5 starstoday
This was honestly one of the best stays we’ve had and we travel often. Mary- Ellen’s place was impeccable. Super clean, well decorated and included everything one would need to feel right at home. From the super thoughtful welcome basket to how clean it was and the easy instructions, it was the perfect getaway and would definitely go back for a stay there next time we’re in Dartmouth/Halifax. 10/10! 😊

Garden Suite on Robie *2bed/4ppl*

Tracey Rating, 5 stars5 days ago
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Ashley’s Garden Suite on Robie, and I can't recommend it enough! The space is absolutely gorgeous—exceptionally clean, quiet, and tucked away, yet conveniently close to everything we needed. Ashley had thoughtfully supplied all the essentials: plenty of towels, bedding, and toiletries, making it easy for my adult children and me to feel right at home during our two-night stay. The beds, including the sofa bed, were incredibly comfortable, ensuring we all slept well. The decor truly impressed us, reminiscent of the chic boutique hotel Kimpton Saint George in Toronto. Super memorable! Communication with Ashley was seamless; she went above and beyond, even setting up the sofa bed in advance since she knew we’d need it. We absolutely loved our stay and can’t wait to come back!

Stylish Pied-à-terre, Harborside, Free Parking

JonathonRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We've stayed in this building a couple of times before, but this top-floor unit was the best one yet. The kitchen is compact, well laid out, nicely connected to the rest of the unit, and very easy to prep and cook in. We really liked the design of the unit, which was probably a studio originally, but now it's very uniquely divided into a bedroom and living room and still feel spacious. Underground parking is ideal. Five stars all around. Very highly recommended.

North End, 2 bed w/t hot tub

VenessaRating, 5 stars2 days ago
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful Airbnb! The location was absolutely perfect, and the space looked just like the photos—if not better! The flow of the place made it feel so welcoming and like home, and it had everything we needed for a comfortable 5-day stay. The beds were also incredibly comfy! But the real highlight? The backyard! It’s such a vibe—perfect for relaxing after our long adventurous days. We spent a lot of time sitting around the fire pit or in the hot tub. Our host was fantastic, responding quickly to our questions and even sending us helpful tips to make the most of our stay. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this gem!

My mother and I were staying for the weekend so we could attend a wedding. Everything was fantastic. And my mother kept mentioning how comfortable the bed was, which is big for her since she has fibromyalgia so not many things are comfortable.

This was our second time at The Bunker and it’s our favourite hidden gem in Halifax. It has everything you need for a peaceful stay while visiting for work or pleasure. We especially loved that we felt right at home, down to having a guest account for streaming services on the TV. Thank you for having us! Hope to see you again soon.

Your guide to Halifax

All About Halifax

The provincial capital of Nova Scotia, Halifax is noted for its maritime history, blend of architectural styles — the glass of Halifax Central Library sits comfortably alongside 19th-century buildings such as the Old Town Clock — and as a convenient jumping-off point for exploring the surrounding area’s natural beauty. Home to one of the largest ice-free harbors in the world, Halifax became one of the most prolific commercial ports on the eastern seaboard. Today, a stroll along the downtown waterfront takes in heritage vessels, sailboats, and tugboats still zigzagging around the harbor.

The Atlantic port city is also known for its universities, thriving arts scene, and bohemian neighborhoods. There’s classic and cutting-edge art to admire, while historical walking tours can lead you through the city’s past, and the North End is home to a host of buzzing craft breweries. Halifax performs a careful balancing act, both a business hub and a center for the arts, brimming with modernity and dripping with history.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Halifax

The most popular time to visit vacation rentals in Halifax is during the summer months, when temperatures are the most pleasant and rainfall is minimal. However, temperate conditions are still possible during the spring and fall shoulder seasons. The music festival in late spring and jazz festival in the height of summer are well attended by locals and visitors alike. The fall brings a performing arts event and a well-known film festival. The relatively mild winters here can come as a surprise, provided you have the appropriate layers and boots on. Check out the local lights festival for an inspiring display of Christmas lights, carolers, food vendors, and warm drinks in Cornwallis Park.

Top things to do in Halifax

Sea kayaking in Halifax Harbor

Get an unparalleled view of the harbor and waterfront by renting a sea kayak and touring the waters and coastlines of Halifax. This easy-going activity is the best way to experience a bit of nature without even leaving the city, whether you follow the 2.5-mile boardwalk or venture across the bay to McNabs Island. Go it alone or hire a guide for a deeper dive into the harbor’s history and wildlife-spotting tips.

North End Halifax

North End Halifax is the city’s premier bohemian neighborhood, home to a slew of award-winning restaurants, boutique shops, and a thriving arts scene. When the day turns to night, be sure to check out a craft brewpub. North by Night market’s lively blend of DJ sets, vintage gems, and foodie treats marks the start of the summer.

Georges Island

Set in the center of the city’s harbor, Georges Island is home to Fort Charlotte. What used to serve as a fortification against invasion now operates as a historical site for visitors and history buffs. The entire island is worth exploring, but the tunnels beneath the fort are of particular note. Guided tours are available for the labyrinth that used to store gunpowder and munitions for the fort’s armaments.
