Silvija House

ShelleyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Silvija's house is just perfect! We are a family of four, both kids are young adults, who stayed for 5 nights. From start to finish the communication was amazing, Silvija's cousin arrived to greet us and show us the property. We arrived early and the cleaner was still there, but we could leave our luggage and head off for lunch. The location of the house is perfect. There are a number of restaurants at the bottom of the street, along with a small supermarket. Then a short walk takes you to the heart of the old town and the palace. The property is also perfectly located for the Marjan park at the top of the hill after you have climbed the 97 steps, which we did every morning with the reward of an espresso with cream! All on all, the house, it's location and the wonderfully welcoming Split contributed to an amazing holiday!

Stone house in the center of Split

The apartment was in a great location. A short walk from the old town and grocery stores etc all within 5 mins walking. Matea was extremely responsive, friendly and really easy going. The wifi was a little bit slow, but that’s minor! Really pretty patio on the upper level. Thanks for having us!

💎GREEN DREAM💎villa in SPLIT* discount September

DineshRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Our stay at The Green Dream was absolutely perfect! The listing was accurate in every way - the space was beautiful, immaculately clean, and had even more amenities than we could have imagined. Ana, our host, was exceptional. She was incredibly responsive, helpful, and accommodating. She allowed us to check-in early and even let us store our bags after check-out until late in the afternoon. Ana's attention to detail was impressive, from providing mosquito repellent to offering suggestions for local restaurants and transportation. There were 10 of us, including myself and we all agree that we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The Green Dream and Ana made our stay truly unforgettable. We are so grateful for their hospitality and highly recommend this listing to anyone visiting Split. Thank you, Ana!

Split Old Town - House

DebbieRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Matea's place is quaint and cozy, lots of love in the furnishings and decor. Matea's father met us on the street and gave lots of information and recommendations. Location is stellar, very close to Riva, Diocletian Palace, and many restaurants. Should note that the stairs might be difficult for some people and the upstairs bathroom is quite small, although very well appointed and a great shower. It met our purposes very well and we appreciated the bottle of wine too!

Split VaroĹĄ Karuza Apartment for 2

JariRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
I think five stars doesn't do justice to Ivana's house. First of all it was as clean as if everything was brand new. It has everything you need even for a slightly longer stay (we stayed 8 nights). Everything works perfectly and also the wifi was fast with zero problems. The location is perfect. The house is in a residential area which is quiet and no bars around the corner but still restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and shops are within easy walking distance. Only a few minutes and you're in the old town. It's so easy to go there but it also works the other way. Only a few minutes and you're away from all the buzz and hassle of the all the crowds. Also the green oasis Marjan is right up the hill with great views over the city and nice walking trails. Ivana is a great host. In the beginning she gave us a very good overview of Split which was really helpful. We tried several of the neighbourhood restaurants she suggested and they were all excellent. We sincerely hope to come back!

Wonderful Air BnB in a historic property, immaculately clean and within walking distance to the old town and the beach. The property is well-equipped, comfortable and atmospheric. There is a supermarket round the corner and restaurants and coffee shops nearby. There is plenty to do in Split which is a beautiful holiday location. I would thoroughly recommend a holiday there.

Joy4You Apt near Beach and Center

KatRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We wanted an apartment away from the busy centre of Split and Dorotea's place was just that. A beautifully clean welcoming space that was just perfect to return to after a busy day. The bonus is that it's just around the corner from a beautiful swimming beach. We went down hill to have a swim in the mornings and evenings after sightseeing. There are good local shops and restaurants nearby. Dorotea is helpful and responsive, even going as far as kindly returning an earring I had mistakenly left behind. It's the perfect pad to explore Split.

CHICOLATA, new Luxury apartment near Bacvice beach

CharlesRating, 5 stars1 week ago
As it has been mentioned by everyone else, this property is a flat out 5.0!!! Daniel has thought of everything. We've stayed at quite a few properties and without a doubt, this is the best one. Daniel has done a great job with the setup, furnishings and all of the amenities. If it's something you might need, don't worry...he has thought of it. We loved the warm greeting by Daniel and his father, plus the wine & snacks...a perfect touch. Also appreciate that the unit has both a washer AND dryer. We've been on a long trip and put them to use. The property is perfectly situated near great restaurants and literally steps from the harbour & old town. If you're planning on visiting Split, look no further. This is the property for you. Hope to make it back in the future. ❤️

Jakša is a very honest, friendly and helpful host. His place is very welcoming, clean, easy to find and is in a great location for all touristic areas. His place is nice and quiet as well as spotless. Jakša was quick to respond to all of our needs and questions and he gave great tips and nice places to go to, including where locals go to and the prices isn’t as high as the tourists areas. Jakša’s place is a gem to stay at in Split and would really recommend staying at.

Luxury studio apartment close to centre Split

RosemaryRating, 5 stars1 week ago
A very well-equipped apartment located in a quiet area of the city. Dean was an exceptional host who seems to have thought of every eventuality. He greeted us at the apartment, went through all the essentials with us and then gave us a rundown of the city – the attractions, where to eat, the local beaches (and which ones to avoid), etc. He was incredibly helpful and we used his local knowledge to good effect. The place was very clean and was well-stocked including basic food supplies, washing materials, a bottle of wine and home-made biscuits We had a great time and can recommend the destination (and especially this apartment) to anyone.

Your guide to Split

Welcome to Split

At first glance, this Croatian port town on the Aegean Sea seduces the eye with white stone buildings and red-tiled roofs, which glow against the bright blue of the sky and the Mediterranean Sea. As you wander down Split’s narrow streets, you realize that the buildings around you span two millennia, and you find yourself staring upwards, picking out architectural details from the Roman era, the Middle Ages, and the Belle Epoque.

Whether you’re visiting Split at the peak of its bronzed-beachcomber summers or during its moody gray winters, Croatia’s second-biggest city exudes a relaxed vibrancy. The shops and galleries along Marmont Street (Marmontova Ulica), as well as its seafood market, are bustling no matter what time of year. In the warmer months, locals and visitors alike while away the afternoon at the bars and cafes flanking the beach at Bačvice, or settle into open-air restaurant tables along the Riva, the city’s seaside promenade, for a leisurely dinner and plenty of crowd-watching.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Split

The mild Mediterranean climate of the Dalmatian Coast brings plenty of visitors to Split. Like most of the region, winter is gentle here, though no one’s shimmying into bathing suits for a long day on the waterfront — the regular rains and winds green up the hillsides and keep locals indoors. April ushers in a flower-filled spring, and the whole town turns out for Krnjeval (Mardi Gras), celebrating with masked balls and parades. From late May through early September, the dry heat begins. With little rain and temperatures in the 80s and 90s Fahrenheit, Split’s beaches and tourist attractions fill up, and the pleasure boats on the sea proliferate. Croatians and foreigners alike descend on Split in July and August for the Summer Festival, when some of the city’s most scenic sites host open-air concerts and ballets. If you’d prefer to see a more serene side of Split, book one of the area’s vacation rentals for mid-September through October, when the water is still warm, the days are still sun-drenched, but the crowds have gone.

Top things to do in Split

Tour Diocletian’s Palace

Few Roman sites from 1,700 years ago have the immediacy of the spectacularly preserved Diocletian’s Palace. Built for the emperor back when Split was a village on the outskirts of the more populous Salona (itself now in ruins), Diocletian’s fortress and imperial residence has been absorbed into the surrounding houses and shops. You will shuttle back and forth through the centuries as you wander through the ancient Cathedral of St. Domnius, arched passageways and gates, and the peristyle (central courtyard). Afterward, head to the Archeological Museum to peruse hundreds of Roman artifacts.

Take Some Island Time

You could spend a full year exploring the 1,200 islands off the Croatian coast. If you don’t have a year, take a ferry to Hvar or Brač, two of the biggest, not to mention the easiest, to get to from Split. Hvar draws the internationally rich to its azure bays and graceful villas, and you can wander around the medieval city of Hvar or escape in a car to more remote towns and beaches. On Brač, vineyards and olive groves stripe the mountainside on Vidova Gora, which you can summit by foot in just a few hours, cooling off afterward on Golden Horn Beach.

Climb Marjan Hill

Split is situated on a peninsula that juts into the Aegean, and an expansive natural preserve covers its western tip. A large hill divides the park from the residential neighborhoods on its east flank, and as you climb you’ll pass open-air cafes, a Jewish cemetery, and centuries-old chapels. Many locals treat Marjan as an open-air gym, and you’ll likely spot runners sweating up the steps and climbers feeling their way along the rocky bluffs. If you crest Marjan Hill and head back down on its north side, you’ll reach pine-shaded beaches suited for contemplating the sea rather than stretching out a towel.
