I stayed in Hartley’s place last week and I was so happy. The room looks exactly as in the photos, the host is very responsive and helpful, the place is very close to NYC, around 15 min drive if you leave soon and traffic is light. And, most importantly, the place is very clean.

Mullica River Cottage - Pine Barrens Retreat

RussRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Amazing location right on the Mullica. We had a blast using the kayaks that come with the rental. Ten minutes from Batsto. Couldn’t ask for a better location to explore the Pines. Gina is a very creative person and you will love the Bluebird Cottage. Gina’s recommendations for local restaurants were spot on. We have found some great places to stay on AirBNB, but Gina’s spot really stands out!

ChrisRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Perfect one bedroom one bath spot for a couple at the beach. Very clean and well constructed - like new. Beautiful back porch overlooks the bay with great sunsets. TV full streaming capability. Kitchen is fully stocked. We enjoyed the recommendation to George’s Place right up the street (4-5 block walk) for a sunny Greek lunch watching the boaters. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Lake House, Kayaks, Paddleboards, 45 Min From NYC

AnnaRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
This lake house was a second floor apartment with easy access (across a quiet street) to Lake Hopatcong. The apartment is a cozy 2 bedrooms that fit our family of 4’s needs for a quick getaway from NYC. It’s very close to NYC (about an hour and a half without traffic) and comes with 2 kayaks and a canoe, life vests, and paddles. Their private dock comes with a picnic table and 2 Adirondack chairs. The apartment is tastefully decorated and our hosts were very thoughtful with all that was provided, including a binder of the neighborhood’s greatest hits including a local hike to Liffy Island that we enjoyed. All three beds were very comfortable. The home is wedged close to its neighbors, but they were friendly and quiet. The kitchen was well stocked with basic needs and spices. We appreciate the filtered water pitcher in the refrigerator. Our hosts were very responsive and gracious. This is a great local getaway!

New Private Suite 10 minutes from LBI !

DavidRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Miguel was a wonderful host and we loved the cozy little space! It was very clean, bright, and quiet. Access was very simple and easy. We only had one small issue upon arrival, but Miguel resolved it swiftly and to our complete satisfaction. The space was well-appointed, clean, and bright. The neighborhood was beautiful, quiet, and located close to a nice supermarket and several of the attractions we planned to visit.

Loft in Cape May

Beautiful Garage Top Loft

ElenaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This is one of the most spacious AIrbnb places I've stayed at. It's the entire floor above their garage with its own door to the garage and to the space upstairs. I loved all the dark wood that made it feel cozy. There were separate cozy spaces whether for reading or eating a meal. The location is so close to the center of Cape May (5 min drive) and the beach. After a day, I was able to get around quite easily. A couple of things to know: If you have mobility issues, this isn't the place, as there are steep stairs. Another is that it's on a busy street although the driveway doesn't go onto the busy street (thankfully) but you need to take a turn into the side street and the driveway is right there on the left. It can be hard to miss; in fact I missed it when I first arrived. Also, the lighting isn't all that great on the main road so it was hard to see the side street in the dark. Otherwise, a great place to stay for my short visit to Cape May.

Victorian Brownstone Private 1BR, 15 minute to NYC

BenjaminRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Hung Mao was a great host! The place was ready for our evening arrival. After we got settled in, he came up and gave us the rundown of the place plus some tips on Hoboken and NYC. He was very knowledgeable about walking & transit resources (his listing of PABT Gate numbers was invaluable). He stayed in contact throughout the trip and was easy to get ahold of via the AirBnb app. The area we stayed in was quiet and restful, yet one block from Washington St (the main artery of Hoboken). If it's in the budget, I would be delighted to stay in Hung Mao's place again.

Your guide to New Jersey

Welcome to New Jersey

In New Jersey, scenic pastoral landscapes and coastlines meet rich cultural hubs. In the dense urban centers lining the Hudson River, the hustle of city life is met with the bustle of cultural enclaves from India Square in Jersey City to the Korean eats in Fort Lee. But drive out a little farther and the Garden State reveals itself, with mountain reserves, massive lakes, and even the second-largest waterfall in volume east of the Mississippi at Paterson’s Great Falls. Travel south and you’ll find the unparalleled beach towns on the Atlantic Coast, as well as the vast Pine Barrens — and anywhere you go in the state, you’re sure to run into charming towns, like Clinton, with its vintage Red Mill, or Lambertville along the Delaware River.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in New Jersey

With shores, mountains, small towns, and urban hubs, there’s a reason in every season to visit New Jersey. Beachgoers flock to the shore between Memorial Day and Labor Day, with June being the best bet, since July and August can bring stifling and humid heat. In the autumn, the Garden State shows off its color palette with peak fall foliage from late September in the north to early November in the south. Winters can be a mixed bag — snowy periods alternate with chilly sunny days. Spring brings back the garden views, especially at April’s Cherry Blossom Festival in Branch Brook Park, with 4,000 trees—surpassing Washington, D.C.’s collection in volume and variety.

Top things to do in New Jersey

Liberty State Park

The Statue of Liberty may call New York City home, but she stands much closer to Jersey at the 1,212-acre Liberty State Park. The wide-open Hudson River views, from Midtown Manhattan to the Verrazano Bridge, are best seen along the two-mile waterfront promenade walk. The park is home to the Liberty Science Center, with the Western Hemisphere’s biggest planetarium, and the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal, where immigrants boarded trains to their new lives after arriving at Ellis Island. The park is also home to the Empty Sky 9/11 Memorial, strategically placed to guide visitors to look at the skyline with the missing towers.

Jersey Shore

With 90 miles of white-sand beaches, the Jersey Shore has long lured visitors to its beachfront rentals, and even invented the entire genre of boardwalk culture when the first was built in Atlantic City in 1870. From the family-friendly beach towns on Long Beach Island to the historic Victorian homes in Cape May — plus a 65-foot tall elephant named Lucy in Margate — the state’s Atlantic coast line is a centerpiece of American beach-going.

Grounds for Sculpture

Reality and art blend at this outdoor sculpture garden where dramatic steam rises from some pieces, and others are so lifelike, you might find yourself striking up a conversation. Perhaps the most notable works are the 3-D takes on famous paintings.
