Larry was a very responsive host. We liked the place very much - kitchen well stocked and bath had everything we needed. It was big - there were only two of us but could have easily accommodated five. We loved sitting on the front porch swing!

Diamond City Lake House

We had a blast staying at this house. It was clean, well maintained with updated appliances, and made our stay away from home feel like home. The porch seating area and the large seating area in the kitchen and living room made it easy to socialize with friends in different settings. Everything was great.

Riverfront 3 bedroom cabin

BelindaRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We had a great stay. More outdoor furniture than the pictures, which was great. We brought some folding chairs with us but we definitely did not need them. They had everything you needed in the kitchen. Again, we brought things we didn't need to bring. We had a wonderful time. The weather was great and we enjoyed the house and the surroundings! Thanks so much for such a great stay. If we get the chance, would love to stay again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jennifer’s place. It’s private, comfortable, and a beautifully scenic area in the fall. I would recommend Jennifer’s place to anyone looking for a get-away in this particular area of Arkansas. We would definitely stay here again!

Cozy cabin close to area lakes

KaylaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We loved our stay, the cabin was easy to find with clear instructions on how to get there and get in. Alice made sure we were settled in, and even left a s'more kit for my kiddo. The cabin included lots of information on local restaurants. The cabin also had some board games and a giant connect four my child enjoyed playing. We enjoyed watching the deer in the field next to the cabin. We would stay again in the future.

Wishin' 2 B Fishin'

The perfect little sanctuary tucked into the wooded hills of Arkansas! The cabin was more lovely in person and the surroundings were very peaceful. The cabin is fully stocked with everything you need and was very roomy. The attention to detail and quality was obvious from the carved wooden panels to the quaint decor.

LOG HOME CANINE RETREAT WITH DOG ART COLLECTION

AngeleaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We absolutely loved the cabin, everything we had hoped for and more. Rained 10 inches the night we arrived so was flooded in. The Buffalo river was to high to float. But we found other amazing things todo. Thank you so much. Beautiful view. Awesome place or the dogs. Would love to stay again.

Your guide to Mountain Home

All About Mountain Home

In the southern Ozark Mountains, between the serene waters of Bull Shoals and Norfork Lakes, you’ll find Mountain Home, a small town with the big advantage of being in the middle of Arkansas’s untouched natural beauty.

With so much water at its doorstep — including the White and Norfork Rivers — Mountain Home has a plethora of water-based activities to keep you busy, such as swimming, kayaking, boating, and fishing for bass and walleye.

In the nearby town of Bull Shoals, you can explore the 350-million-year-old limestone caves and a recreation of a historic 1890 Mountain Village. Sprinkled throughout town are a handful of historical sites and museums, including the Baxter County Courthouse and the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society, where you’ll find interesting tidbits about the town and the greater Ozarks region. Downtown, you’ll also find a change of pace in the antique stores, flea markets, and galleries, including the Rivertown Gallery showcasing collections of art influenced by one of Mountain Home’s favorite pastimes: fishing.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Mountain Home

Spring and summer boast optimal conditions for outdoor recreation, and while temperatures peak during the summer months, days spent in and on the water provide fun ways to beat the heat. In fall, the rugged terrain of the Ozarks dazzles in brilliant shades of crimson, orange, and yellow. The town hosts its Fall Festival, which includes a maze, pumpkin patch, hayrides, and various activities for kids and adults to enjoy. The festival takes place during the weekends and begins on the last weekend of September, spanning the first weekend of November. During the winter season, thick coats of snow and ice can blanket Mountain Home, but the colder months mean pleasant conditions for winter mountain biking and fishing for crappie. In December, the town also hosts a popular Christmas parade and festival.

Top things to do in Mountain Home

Bull Shoals-White River State Park

The Bull Shoals-White River State Park stretches along the shores of the Bulls Shoals Lake and White River to where they eventually join at the Bulls Shoals Dam. The combination of these waters creates some amazing fishing and boating conditions. You can also take a dip into the glistening waters, traverse one of the trails that meanders through the verdant landscape, and explore the millennia-old limestone caves.

Donald W. Reynolds Library

Housed in a striking contemporary building, the Donald W. Reynolds Library invites you to peruse its collection of books and displays of local art in its rotating exhibits. The library often hosts used books sales and various events throughout the year, including author readings, workshops, and classes catered to all ages. You can also enjoy a coffee or a bite to eat at the coffee shop right by the library.

Wolf House

Located near the town of Norfork, you’ll find Arkansas’s oldest public structure, the picturesque Wolf House, built in 1825. The two-story log structure sits on a bluff overlooking the White and Norfork Rivers. Nearby historical plaques offer insight into local history and the house’s original residents.
