4.94 out of 5 average rating, 109 reviews*** Beachfront Open Studio - steps to the Ocean *
We enjoyed our stay here. It’s steps from the ocean. At night we loved hearing the waves crash/ocean which was so relaxing. Although you can hear your neighbors and footsteps above it’s worth it to stay there. The place is bigger than you think. The tub was nice along with the outdoor shower. Your near Hale’iwa town and North Shore. Plenty of things to do such as Waimea Valley (botanical garden/waterfall), Shark Cove (snorkeling), Laniakea beach (turtle beach). There’s plenty of food options such as Giovanni Shrimp truck, Teddy burgers (which has sport tvs), Matsumoto shave iced, Ted’s Bakery, etc.

4.83 out of 5 average rating, 248 reviewsTurtle Bay Condo Sleeps Four - North Shore, Oahu
It is a great location inside the Turtle Bay Resort area. There are fun restaurants and bars within the resort and a number of other excellent restaurants nearby. The North Shore location is very convenient for exploring this part of the island. The unit is as described and photographed. I think it is an excellent space for 2-3 people as there is one bedroom and either a sofa-sleeper or blow-up air mattresses for additional guests. Having two bathrooms was a bonus. The bedroom has an A/C unit, but the rest of the condo relies on ceiling fans to cool. You do get a great breeze with the front and back doors open with the screen doors closed. Having spent many years traveling to Hawaii, I think this is pretty common. One issue is that the dryer vents into the laundry area which does heat up the condo, so we had to be selective as to when we used the dryer. Not a huge deal and we had a fabulous time enjoying this area of Oahu! Mahalo

4.93 out of 5 average rating, 57 reviewsHaleiwa Waterfront House
This place was very lovely and had a wonderful view of the ocean. We had an amazing time in Hawaii. The house was conveniently located next to two very nice beaches we went to. As for other excursions it was a bit of a drive but we didn’t mind since there was so much beautiful scenery on the island. The bed was smaller than expected, it is maybe a queen but felt tiny. It was me and my husband and we are average people and we were shoulder to shoulder in the bed if we laid on our backs. I understand it is a small room and the bed already does take up a lot of space. Everything else is amazing and that isn’t even that big of a deal. We loved waking up in the morning and going to a local açaí place for breakfast and coming home to eat out on the lovely deck. Truly this is a once in a lifetime experience to be this close to the beach! I say if you are debating it, please treat yourself to this wonderful house.

This place was great! If you are looking for a place to explore North Shore this is a great place. It was a fantastic home base for us and North Shore is amazing. The beaches, the food trucks, the shops, it was all great. When staying here you have to eat at Teds up the road and do not miss the Polynesian Cultural Center. Seeing the sunrise at the beach literally across the street was a real highlite.

We had a fantastic stay at this Airbnb! The place was absolutely spotless, comfortable, and beautifully designed. Every detail was well-organized, making it a perfect retreat. The surrounding beaches, outside of our gated community are stunning, although they are homeless encampments. Despite that, I highly recommend this accommodation for its quality and ambiance!

Kerstin and Jerelle were great hosts!! Great communication from the very start. Our 3 night 4 day stay at this beautiful home with impeccable sunset views is a one in a million. We are very grateful that our family could create new memories here. We used every space: backyard views were pretty extextraordinary (morning mountain views, beautiful sunsets, & the starry night wow)! Our kids were in the game room majority of the time, then the adults enjoyed it in the evening. Fresh fruit and local flowers in the yard with a easy-to-walk up gazebo area. Easy to find the home and in a gated community is a HUGE PLUS! Location is literally yards away from Makaha Golf Course, and minutes from the nearest CVS Longs (convenience stores). It was hard to say goodbye to a place we will always remember. Again, thank you for being great Super-Hosts!!! We will definitely be booking again! Mahalo nui, Matsumoto Family

Such an amazing stay! Super close to turtle bay resort, beaches and lots of good food. The host was incredibly helpful and responsive! Check in was very very easy and no contact. Lots of extra towels, blankets, chairs, umbrellas in the airbnb. Only issues were that the TV couldn’t connect to the internet and that the shower heads are very finicky and can fall easily if bumped (especially with tall individuals). Definitely would stay again!

Muoy’s place was perfect for our family stay in Waikiki. It was close to a kid friendly beach and the facility was very kid friendly, transportation was easy, and the keyless entry meant the family could come and go without worrying about a key. Plus the condo has a fully outfitted and functional kitchen and a wonderful balcony with table and chairs for the kids to hang out and look at the beautiful view! I also appreciated that the building was non smoking, had laundry facilities very close, and was very clean.

Your guide to Haleiwa
All About Haleiwa
On the North Shore of the Hawaiian Island of Oahu, around an hour from Waikiki, you’ll find the laidback town of Haleiwa, known for its pristine beaches and the most famous surf spot in the world, the Banzai Pipeline. Thrill seekers come here to surf epic waves, which can reach up to 40 feet high at the Pipeline, on the two-mile stretch of Ehukai Beach. For a more relaxed vibe, head to Sunset Beach, which has silky soft sands for sunbathing and calm waters for swimming and snorkeling. As the name suggests, this is also a great place to catch a legendary Hawaiian sunset. You could try kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding at Laniakea Beach, where you may also spot Hawaiian green sea turtles bathing on the algae-covered rocks.
Haleiwa town is full of historic buildings, which today are occupied by hip surf shops, cafes, restaurants, fashion boutiques, and art galleries, including the Haleiwa Art Gallery, which showcases works from local artists and photographers. For a true local’s experience, try some fresh local shrimp or pickled mango from one of the popular food trucks scattered around town.
The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Haleiwa
Almost any time of the year is a good time to visit Haleiwa, with a great range of north shore vacation rentals available for your stay, including houses and condos. July through September are the warmest months, when you can expect hot and humid temperatures all day and night. In August, the region celebrates Hawaiian music, dance, and history with the month-long Aloha Festival.
Hawaii’s shoulder seasons offer cooler weather with some rain, but you can still expect mostly pleasant temperatures for enjoying the beach. In March, the Honolulu Festival in Waikiki is a three-day celebration featuring cultural experiences, art and craft demonstrations, music, dance, and a parade. Note that the hurricane season in Hawaii officially runs from June to November.
Top things to do in Haleiwa
Waimea Valley
Head 10 minutes out of town to the lush Waimea Valley, where you can swim under a 45-foot waterfall and visit the Waimea Valley Arboretum and Botanical Garden. You can explore 600-year-old archaeological sites here, including the Hale o Lono Heiau, a temple dedicated to the god Lono. You can also experience cultural practices with locals, such as lei making, hala weaving, and a traditional Hawaiian luau.
Anahulu River
The calm waters of the Anahulu River, which feeds into Waimea Bay, are best explored through kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding. Perfect for casual paddlers and beginners, you can enjoy a slow paddle along the glassy river, where you’re likely to see an abundance of wildlife including sea turtles. The entire trip along the river takes about an hour, during which you’ll pass under the double arches of Rainbow Bridge.
Laniakea Beach
This is a popular beach for swimming, snorkeling, and respectfully witnessing sea turtles coming ashore to sun themselves. Laniakea Beach offers the opportunity to experience these graceful creatures in their natural habitat, but be aware that direct contact is strictly prohibited, and there are barriers separating the turtles from beachcombers. Volunteers are present at all times to answer any questions you may have and to ensure that no one gets too close to the turtles.
