The Little Fox Den at Deep Creek Lake *Lake View*

CaitlynRating, 5 stars4 days ago
My friend and I stayed here for a girls’ weekend and we would give this place and Lauren 6 stars if we could. It was exactly as shown in the listing, so clean, and you can tell Lauren put so much thought and effort into making this a charming place to stay. We do this weekend annually and if it’s available in October next year we will absolutely stay again.

Log Cabin at the Lake, 5300+ sq ft of fun!

WaltRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Overall, very good. Jason was super responsive and helpful on everything. Lots to do at the house for our family. I thought it was closer to the water than what it is, but still, it’s only a short ride. The lake is fantastic though. Nice community. Many homes close, but I think they are mostly vacation rentals so nobody there in most houses when we were there. The house was awesome. It is a log cabin so it can be a little loud between floors, so just know that. It is very spacious and nice. Our family loved it. Lots to do in the surrounding area. We felt super comfortable. 👍

Lake View Loft Lodge on Deep Creek Lake

LoriRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Offers a spectacular view from the deck and is a centralized location to nearby activities. The condo is comfortable for a couple’s getaway and is stocked with essentials. It’s an easy walk to the pizzeria or coffee shop and excellent restaurants are within short driving distance. Hiking and outdoor activities are also easy to access and spending an afternoon browsing shops in downtown Oakland is a must do as well. It’s evident that updates are in progress for the unit and we look forward to a return stay in the future!

ErinRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This house is charming & gorgeous. It was very comfortable and spacious even for our 11 adult group. The kitchen is lovely, hot tub worked great and we really enjoyed being able to use wood or gas fireplaces. We were obsessed with the basement couch. It is SO comfy. The property was gorgeous in October. It is very secluded with an amazing view as soon as you step into the front door. Make sure to bring trash bags, shampoo, conditioner, body soap etc as those were not supplied. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies!

Waterfront, Pool, Hottub - Deep Creek Lake & Wisp

MarshallRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Tolga's property met all of our expectations. We stayed there with a large group and made good use of the pool, hot tub and game room! The property is gorgeous with direct access to a creek behind it and was a short drive to all that Deep Creek had to offer. With a large group, there were ample beds for everyone and outside of the bedrooms, the house is very spacious so that you don't feel cramped! Would absolutely stay here again if I had another large group coming to Deep Creek.

Deep Creek Lake | Dog Friendly | Private Woods

CleopatreRating, 5 stars4 days ago
We come here every year, and once again, this place was great! Super clean, awesome kitchen, the front room has a smart TV, old-school pacman game, foosball table, cornhole, and games are provided. Plenty of space. Towels, papers towels, and toilet paper is provided also. There are plenty of plates, bowls, pans, etc. We absolutely love roasting hot dogs and making s'mores while looking at the stars by the fire pit. There's also a charcoal grill if you prefer. There are so many stars and it's so peaceful. It's about 15mins from Walmart, and 25mins to Deep Creek and Swallow Falls. I didn't need to contact Jose but last year when I had a question, he replied within 30mins. We look forward to coming back next year!

Your guide to Deep Creek Lake

All About Deep Creek Lake

In the mountains of western Maryland, Deep Creek Lake is the kind of retreat that calls for repeat visits. From June through August, the area is a picture of summer done right, with swimmers diving off of docks into the vast lake, and kayakers gliding across it in search of quiet coves. In fall, the action moves from the lake to mountains, as visitors wind through scenic backroads taking in the fall foliage. Winter usually brings upward of 100 inches of snow, drawing both downhill and cross-country skiers. And when the snow melts in spring, it reveals miles of hiking and biking trails along the river and through the woods.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Deep Creek Lake

In summer, the climate stays in the ideal pocket of upper 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit with little humidity (there are occasional showers, but they pass through quickly). Fall weather is markedly crisp and can be unpredictable, with temperatures from the 30s to the 60s. In the winter, bring your warmest coats and layers: Temperatures average in the 30s and 40s, but often dip below zero too. Spring warms up to the 50s and 60s, with the most rain of the year (tapering off in May); pack a rain jacket and shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy.

Top things to do in Deep Creek Lake

Deep Creek Lake

Many people visit this 3,900-acre man-made lake seeking serenity, be it by kayak, paddleboard, or boat. But the lake is also a natural amusement park, one where you can shoot across the water on jet skis or in an inner tube towed by a motor boat. Swimmers can get lake access via the public beach at Deep Creek Lake State Park. For gear rentals or tours, most outfitters are based in the towns of McHenry or Oakland.

Swallow Falls State Park

Of all the wilderness to explore in the area—Garrett County has seven state parks—Swallow Falls should be on the top of your list. Many of its trails follow the river, so wear a swimsuit under your hiking clothes so you can take breaks in the calmer sections of water. An easy 1¼-mile hike takes you to the park’s main attraction, the 53-foot Muddy Creek Falls waterfall.

Youghiogheny River

Serious whitewater rafting enthusiasts from all over the country come to southern Pennsylvania to conquer the Youghiogheny River’s IV and V rapids, including the notorious Meat Cleaver, a gnarly stretch of falls that bends through a maze of jagged boulders. Unless you really know what you’re doing, stick to the Middle Yough and section and enjoy a more leisurely experience.
