The Tree House

MartinRating, 5 stars1 month ago
I only spent one night at Tree House but enjoyed my stay there very much. The suite is very modern, clean and spacious and has all the amenities one could ask for. The neighbourhood is very quiet and peaceful and the deck is fantastic for enjoying the surrounding trees and birdlife. Fiona is very nice and provided clear and easy instructions for checking in and out advance. I would definitely stay at the Tree House again and can only recommend this place to anyone looking for an oasis of peace close to Victoria

Incredible views! Waterfront family beach house

BrookeRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had an amazing time visiting family on the island. The house and property are beautiful. Many local Islanders have not been able to appreciate this beautiful beach, so it was really nice sharing it with 4th and 5th generation islanders. We hope we can stay again. The house itself is very spacious and warm. Very welcoming home. Thank you!

Luxury Oceanfront House - The Cove at Otter Point

AvenRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
One if not the best Airbnb we have ever stayed at. Our parents and us stayed there for our wedding and we had a small group of friends and extended family come for our wedding. View was million dollar and weather was perfect. Honestly could not have imagined a better placed to get married. Exceeded all our expectations and more. This is such a gem! We all want to come back for other family holidays in the future.

The Garden Suite

Hsin JouRating, 5 stars6 days ago
It’s such a great place to stay! I love the place, love the vibe, and Sheila for sure! She always reply like immediately, that really helps a lot. Just a reminder, it’s more convenient if you have a car, so you don’t have to walk for 20 mins to get to the bus stop to downtown! And also, if you always need a body wash or shampoo please bring them yourself, there’s only soap here! Over all, it’s absolutely a place that I would recommend to my friends, thank you Shelia!

Freedom To Fly

BrianneRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Our second time staying in fabulous Sooke, and stumbled upon this unexpected gem of a beach front cottage for a long autumn weekend with family. From location, house amenities, and hospitality this spot goes above and beyond your expectations. We also lucked out with Sooke showing off with a few days of deep orange fall sunrises that viewed from the kitchen/dining room window paired nicely with a house french press Talking Stick coffee. Thanks Christine for a blissful stay. We will be back!

TomRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Amazing location and friendly host! Michaela was extremely helpful while we were planning our trip and during our stay on the island. We loved the private hottub among the abutus trees on the property. Perfect for stargazing during your soak! We took advantage of the Arbutus View Thermal Spa on our last night and it was a great, relaxing way to end the trip. Thank you Michaela and Simon for a lovely stay, highly recommend!

Era Oasis in Historic Victoria

CarolRating, 5 stars6 days ago
We had a wonderful stay at Miriam's place from the time we entered to the time we left. The condo was very clean, comfortable and well appointed with everything you could need for a stay away from home, including an underground, secure parking space. Miriam was a very welcoming host - we appreciated the Welcome sign and music playing when we arrived, the immediate welcome phone call upon check-in with advice and ideas, and allowing us to check in early with our elderly sister so we didn't have to roam about for a few hours after our airport arrival. I would definitely stay again and would highly recommend Miriam's place.

Contemporary Condo with Heritage Flair

NathanRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Great place at the corner of Chinatown! You can walk to anything in downtown Victoria easily. The condo itself is in a restored brick building with a modern industrial feel. The kitchen is well appointed (better than most Airbnbs). Do note the mention of street noise in the listing - it was fine for us, but if in doubt, bring earplugs.

Exclusive Modern Waterfront Oasis

PaulRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This is a beautiful cottage and a very scenic area overlooking the water. There’s a beautiful backyard with a deck and dock that overlooks the water. It is very scenic and peaceful. Tarita made me feel very much at home and was very engaged and told me about her experiences in that area. She was nice enough to bring me extra spices for doing a little cooking. The house was stocked up with everything you could possibly need. If there were more stars to give,I would give them. This place is fantastic. I hope I have the pleasure to come back and spend more time at this beautiful cottage. Thank you Tarita , for making this a very special part of my trip. All the best to you, Paul

Picturesque and unique cob home on organic farm

AimeeRating, 5 stars3 days ago
Second visit to the cob house- so magical! Learned a hard lesson about the ferries this trip. Forgot to reserve when I booked the stay. I highly recommend reserving your ferry as soon as you decide to stay on Mayne. We managed to get on as stand by, but the stress of not knowing really marred the zen-mode for me. Also, bring a speaker for listening to beautiful music while enjoying the views!

Very much enjoyed our stay. Clean, quiet, bright living room with big windows. Garden out back gave the place a great vibe. Nice location for us. Everything was easy to find inside and use. Really like coffee so having beans, a grinder and french press was a nice way to get a great cup. Highly recommend this place

Your guide to Victoria

Welcome to Victoria

Perched on the southern tip of beautiful Vancouver Island, Victoria is a classic Pacific Northwest maritime town brimming with charm and culture. Cruise ships, yachts, and sailboats glide through its ports; visitors roam the lively wharf; and offshore, it’s not uncommon to see whales putting on a show. Wander inland and you’ll find that British Columbia’s capital city is full of ornate Edwardian architecture, expansive public gardens, and ample bike paths. Among Victoria’s significant structures are its late-19th-century Parliament Buildings, whose grand facades glow with festive lights at night, and the genteel Empress Hotel, opened in 1908, where you can still take high tea. Victoria is also home to the oldest Chinatown in Canada, where you can find the country’s narrowest street, shopping corridor Fan Tan Alley. Add to this mix three colleges, world-class museums, picturesque rainforests, driftwood-dotted beaches, and stunning shoreline views, and Victoria is a perfect blend of urbane and outdoorsy.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Victoria

Summers are balmy and mild in Victoria, perfect for strolling the city and enjoying seasonal festivities such as Canada Day on July 1 and the Symphony Splash, celebrated in August, when the Victoria Symphony performs on a barge in the harbor. Victoria gets less rainfall than other parts of Canada, and hardly any snow. Thanks to the city’s mild weather, visitors flow through it year round, but in winter the temperatures do dip considerably, and even in summer a coat is recommended for cool nights.

Top things to do in Victoria

Beacon Hill Park

This sprawling waterfront green space is the heart of Victoria’s park system. Its lush environs include picturesque lily ponds and stands of majestic and rare Garry oak trees. You’ll also find an ornate totem pole carved by acclaimed artist and First Nations member Mungo Martin, and the Moss Lady, a large, whimsical sculpture of a giant taking a nap on the park floor.

Miniature World

Travel the globe in a few strides at this museum housing more than 85 teensy dioramas of places real and imagined. London, outer space, and Camelot are just a few of the locales painstakingly recreated in miniature and populated with residents no bigger than a thumbnail. These motorized exhibits include mini trains that zip around, and doll-sized carnival rides that spin and light up.

Craigdarroch Castle

Known colloquially as a bonanza castle, this staggering temple to wealth sits on a hill overlooking Victoria. Built by coal baron Robert Dunsmuir between 1887 and 1890, this imposing four-floor Victorian estate is replete with stained-glass windows, intricate wood carvings, and antique furnishings. Take a tour of its opulent rooms and ponder the cleaning routine.
