Rental unit in Suginami-ku
4.97 out of 5 average rating, 182 reviews2 stops to Shinjuku, 10 minutes from the room, a small apartment stay in a quiet and comfortable environment.
Takashi and Shiho were super hosts and their air Bnb was exactly as described and in the photos. They were extremely helpful and kind and very responsive. The location is perfect with great restaurants around. It helped a lot that the room is very close to the train stations. Thank you for everything 🙏
Rental unit in Ryōkoku
4.97 out of 5 average rating, 207 reviewsBased location for visiting Tokyo near Station#102
I was super satisfied with this accommodation in terms of its cleanliness, amenities, and overall comfort. I stayed 5 nights with my mom. The only thing I’d say was a fault on my part- since this is the first time I’ve ever planned a trip to Japan (we’ve only been here for a flight layover), I found that a bunch of the places I wanted to go to were a bit further than they seemed from here, but I’m well-informed for the next time I visit, and we still had fun! Anyways, the host was friendly, helpful, and responsive whenever I was confused about something. The area is very quiet as well. I’ll make sure to recommend this Airbnb to anyone planning to visit the area!

Hide and Aya’s place was clean and comfortable in a quiet residential neighbourhood with Koenji’s bustling main streets (with cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, & shops) right nearby so that it was really convenient. The train station was also within close walking distance from the house. Everything was perfect! Thanks Hide and Aya for being such good hosts and providing so many suggestions for the area ☺️
Rental unit in Taito
4.97 out of 5 average rating, 221 reviewsPeaceful Riverside View, Asakusa
Truly an amazing stay. The place was very clean and organized, with QR codes explaining some of the appliances inside. Location was great, and the view of the river from the balcony was really nice. Harumi was very thoughtful and kind. She welcomed us in-person and provided some nice snacks and drinks for us. She also has a book of recommended places, restaurants and cafes that was really helpful. Harumi saw us off in person as well, which was really nice of her and greatly appreciated. Overall, this place is one that I highly recommend.

We adults also had extreme fun staying at this property. The place was very well equipped and we found the popcorn and ice maker really cool. Home in Nerima City
4.93 out of 5 average rating, 116 reviewsModern-Japanese Private House w/home & pocket WiFi
This was the absolute perfect spot for our first trip to Japan. We immediately fell in love with Tabikoro. It’s welcoming and feels like you are living in a true home, not a rental. We were able to settle right in and all of Ayu’s recommendations are so helpful. We could walk to anything we wanted or needed; restaurants (there’s excellent food practically next door), convenience stores, shopping, and local transit. We cannot wait to come visit Japan again and I know we will book this place.
Home in Kamata
4.85 out of 5 average rating, 178 reviewsJapanese craft master decoration home,Haneda 20min
When we arrived we were greeted by Uchimura-san who showed us around the place. It's a wonderfully authentic place with everything that you would need included. It's about a 20 minute walk to the station with plenty of places nearby to eat or do your groceries. Uchimura and Lynn made us feel right at home and were always ready to help and were very quick to respond. Highly recommended!
Home in Chofu
4.86 out of 5 average rating, 115 reviewsComori (Comori) * Ticket with a hot spring ticket for a relaxing solo time in Fukuda-ji, Tokyo * with tickets for hot springs
I thought the accommodation was great as a solo traveller looking for a cosy spot. The rooms were all very clean and well kept. I appreciated the kitchen area, I used that to cook a few meals. The surrounding area was peaceful but also quite lively. I appreciated the onsen pass, it was so close and relaxing! A bicycle came free with the booking and made getting around very convenient. There were lots of inexpensive bike parking lots near Chofu station. I went in autumn/fall with mild weather, but I appreciated there being heating and cooling applicances if needed. Ryoya was quite kind and helpful with questions I had over chat. Thanks!
Home in Shinjuku City
4.86 out of 5 average rating, 191 reviews100m2 house/3BR/quiet str./near shinjyuku sta.
This place worked well for us! It is in a very quiet neighborhood and the home was a perfect size and arrangement for my father, brother and myself. My only critiques are: 1) The stairs were a little challenging for my 87 year old father as there are no handrails (but he managed). 2) I had to buy toilet paper. These were minor things however; we really enjoyed our time in Mark’s home. We especially appreciated the pocket WiFi which we could take with us when we went out. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Oki’s place was a great choice! He has a private gym with amazing equipment that we were able to enjoy during our stay. More importantly, I was able to get wonderful rest which was important after a long day of being out in busy Tokyo. The host was always extra helpful, kind, pleasant and generous. I would love to come back!

Sou’s listing was in such a desirable location near several bars and restaurants. It was so nice that many of the restaurants that I wanted to try out were so close to the location. I enjoyed all the local bars and restaurants that were around. Sou was also responsive to all my questions that I had.
Rental unit in Setagaya City
4.98 out of 5 average rating, 44 reviewsThe popular Sangenjaya station is 1 minute on foot for one room in the apartment
Nakano and her mother went above and beyond to make sure I had a great stay at their sweet little apartment in Tokyo. They did so much for me, and Nakano was always very responsive to my questions. This included: meeting me at the bus stop on the night of my arrival and helping me get a taxi in all the chaos; coming over to set up the TV for me so I could watch movies; dropping off gifts of food and other items they thought I might need; and so much more. Honestly, I've never experienced such kind and generous hosts, and I will absolutely be booking with them again when I return to Tokyo. For anyone wondering whether the location would be an issue, I can only say I loved the Sangenjaya area. The apartment itself is a peaceful place to be when you need it, but just minutes from the doorsteps are all the restaurants, cafés and shops you could want. The train station is less than two minutes walk away, and is on a line that connects easily to pretty much everywhere. I loved it!

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rie's place in Hatsudai. Lovely cosy and clean and minutes away from the train station. The apartment had everything we needed with supermarkets, cafes and restaurants on the doorstep. The beds were super comfy and we loved the massage chair. Rie was also super helpful, answering any questions I had virtually straight away. Highly recommended.

Your guide to Tokyo
All About Tokyo
As world cities go, Japan’s capital is exceptionally captivating in its magnitude and manifold points of interest. As the planet’s most populous metropolis, Tokyo offers world-class dining, endless shopping, a myriad of attractions, and dozens of landmarks. While Shibuya Crossing flickers with foot traffic and large video screens to showcase the city’s modern buzz, Tokyo’s many green spaces provide a serene contrast, especially at Shinjuku Gyo-en National Garden, a 144-acre park overflowing with verdant lawns, flowers, and over 1,500 cherry trees.
A trove of museums provide travelers windows into Japanese history, art, architecture, food, and culture. Explore the collection of scale models of historic Tokyo in the Edo Tokyo Museum and enjoy the unique trappings of the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, celebrating Japan’s national dish. Sushi bars, theme parks, cutting-edge fashion boutiques, and more await in this multifarious megalopolis, providing a perfect homebase and lots of options for your Tokyo rental.
The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Tokyo
While there’s never a bad time to visit Tokyo, an ideal time to visit is in the early spring or the fall. The climate is more temperate during the equinoxes, as opposed to the middle of summer, which can be hot and humid — as high as 88 degrees Fahrenheit. The colorful red and orange foliage peaks in mid November and offers a serene atmosphere in autumn, when many visitors flock to Ueno-koen Park and Yoyogi-koen Park. In the spring, bright reds are replaced with lush pinks when the cherry blossom trees come to life. Blooming season is from mid-late March through early-mid April, though make sure that you check the specific year’s predictions for the exact location you are traveling to prior to your trip to ensure you visit within the best timeframe.

Senso-Ji
Experience Tokyo’s oldest Buddhist temple, the Senso-Ji, located in Asakusa. Seno-Ji occupies the site of the original temple which was established in 645 AD, nearly 1,400 years ago. Between the Kaminarimon (or “Thunder Gate”) and the five-story pagoda within the complex, the majesty of traditional Japanese architecture is on full display. The vicinity of the site maintains the atmosphere of the temple grounds, featuring shops and eateries offering traditional cuisine.
Tokyo Skytree
Enjoy panoramic views of Tokyo from atop the glass-walled observation deck of the Tokyo Skytree, the tallest structure in Tokyo and second tallest in the world at 2,080 feet. Combining neo-futurist and traditional design elements, the structure is also magnificent to view from the ground as well. At night, LEDs light up the outer latticework of the tower to create an unforgettable visual experience.
