Had a great stay at jay’s for our friends wedding! He was very responsive and accommodating even at late hours, and the house and pool are beautiful with nice views! One thing to note is that it is a little outside of the city but with fun things to do (so we didnt mind) so keep that in mind when booking

Modern Lake House with Pool 5min to Lake | Jacuzzi

WhitneyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We love our stay! We were in town for the Formula 1 race at CoTA and this location was great with minimal traffic in between. We did accidentally lock ourselves out with the child lock (user error) but Nelma was so helpful and responded quickly and helped us get back inside. We would love to stay again.

The Lake Shack on Lake Travis

MartinRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Janelle's place! The location by the lake is unbeatable, offering stunning views and a serene atmosphere. The outdoor area is perfect for entertaining, with plenty of seating and a beautiful setup for evening gatherings. The highlight of our stay was definitely the lake dock and the lily pad. We spent hours out on the dock, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and the opportunity to swim and relax on the lily pad. It was the perfect spot for both fun and relaxation. Janelle was a wonderful host, providing us with everything we needed and ensuring our stay was comfortable. We can't recommend this place enough and look forward to coming back in the future!

Hill Country Waterfront Lake Travis House

HannahRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Great spot for a weekend get away for my boyfriend’s birthday! The walk was pretty long due to water levels and not what the pictures show, but it is to be expected. Fishing off the dock was so much fun and being able to tie our boat up was really nice. We would have liked to have been prepared about the neighborhood boat ramp and how steep it is and the water over there is pretty grassy and murky due to water levels. The WiFi downstairs didn’t work the whole time and we didn’t receive a response until the day we left about anything. Other than that the place was great and we had a great time here.

Spicewood, Lake Travis, Pedernales, Hot Tub, Fire

AllenRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We were in Spicewood for a wedding and this AirBNB was exactly what we needed. Denise was proactive with all of the instructions and the home was exactly as pictured. Very clean, very comfortable! Sometimes AirBNB’s don’t have all of the soaps, coffee, hair dryers etc. Denise has every detail taken care of. We had a wonderful stay.

LakeTravis Waterfront Volleyball Game Rooms Boats

JeremyRating, 5 stars4 days ago
We had an amazing weekend celebrating my fiancé’s 30th birthday with close friends. As Austin locals, this was the perfect staycation spot! The property offered plenty of space and activities for our group, and we always had a comfortable place to sit and hang out. The volleyball court, complete with lights for night games, was a big hit. Everything was super clean, and the kitchen was well-stocked with cooking supplies. The grill was ready to go with a full propane tank, making it easy for us to cook up a great meal. We’ll definitely be back!

This was the perfect place for the weekend of ACL. Only 10 minutes from Zilker park, it made the experience great as it was far away enough from the craziness but a close drive. The place was decorated nicely and all the small details went a far way with us. It was clean and roomy, aesthetic, comfy, and well stocked. We will definitely be back for our Austin trips here!

The 3 weeks we spent at Antonio's place were absolutely top-notch. It is very clear that he put a ton of thought and care into every aspect of the home, from the decor, to the technology, to the supplies, to the back yard, etc. He could not have been more friendly and dedicated to ensuring an excellent guest experience. I would highly recommend Antonio's home to anyone looking to stay in the Round Rock/Austin area, and we would most definitely stay there again!

Karina’s home was beautiful and cozy and perfect for our quick weekend getaway. I’ve stayed at a lot of airbnbs and Karina was probably the most responsive proactive host we have ever had. Everything was perfect. The beds were extremely comfortable and it was just a beautiful space overall. We would highly recommend.

An amazing place with equally amazing hosts. Scott and Lucinda were clear, informative, responsive, and incredibly accommodating. The place was clean, well-equipped, and located in a great area, very close to downtown Taylor. I had a wonderful first impression of both the hosts and the town. I will definitely be back and hope to stay with them again. Thanks again, Scott and Lucinda!

We had a golf group of 14 guys. The house was perfect for us. Only 30 min to our golf destinations, secluded so we could have a great time outside playing ping pong, cornhole, etc and not feel like we were being too noisy. Kitchen had everything we needed, hot tub was great for pre post rounds. Hosts were great and very responsive. Highly recommend!! We will be back.

Your guide to Lake Austin

All About Lake Austin

There is so much fun to be had in Austin — live music, delicious barbecue, outdoor bars, chicken-poop-fueled bingo games, and kinetic festivals like South by Southwest — that it’s a good idea to take a breather before you fling yourself back in the fray. Enter Lake Austin. Located a little over ten miles from downtown, this reservoir along the Colorado River invites you to chill out and relax for a while. Swimming isn’t the thing here — you aren’t allowed to swim or float more than 50 feet from the shore. Instead, hop on the watercraft of your choice — canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, and motorized vessels are all available to rent nearby — and make your way through the winding waters, gliding under an award-winning bridge as you pass the stately mansions that dot the shore. After a day on the lake, head to one of the waterfront restaurants, where you can dine under a palapa.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Lake Austin

Austin runs warm to very hot just about year round. June through August are the hottest months, with temperatures in the 90s and sometimes in the triple digits Fahrenheit. October cools down with temperatures in the 80s, and November through March bring temperatures between 60 and 70 degrees. March and April spike back up into the 80s. If you’re visiting during the summer, you should pack for very hot weather, and in winter expect cool nights and bring layers. You may experience thunderstorms any time of year, especially during spring, so always bring an umbrella and raincoat just in case.

Top things to do in Lake Austin

Mount Bonnell

Head to Covert Park to get a whole new perspective of the lake. This hillside park is home to the 775-feet Mount Bonnell, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors have been coming here since the 1850s to enjoy panoramic views of the water, city, and surrounding hills. To get to the top, you’ll have to climb 102 stairs. Once there you’ll find a small stone pavilion, so settle in for a picnic with a spectacular view before making the trek back down.

Pennybacker Bridge

Also known as the 360 Bridge, the Pennybacker Bridge’s two stately arches span Austin Lake without touching the water — all the better to accommodate the many boats that float beneath it. Designed to blend into its surroundings, its weathered, rust-colored exterior has received awards for its innovative design. The bridge has become such a recognizable part of the Austin landscape, you can find it on many souvenir posters, keychains, and mugs. For an incredible view of the real thing, park in a small lot off the western road of the north span, then complete a short but steep hike to an overlook that offers incomparable views of the bridge, Austin, and — if you time it right — the sunset.

Emma Long Metropolitan Park

If you truly feel the need to jump into the cool waters of Lake Austin, this is an excellent (and legal) place to do it. This 1,142-acre park features waterfront barbecues and picnic tables, docks, piers, and a designated swimming area with a small sandy beach — where you’re likely to jostle with little ones wearing water wings. There is also a network of hiking trails, including the popular Turkey Creek, a tree-lined 2.8-mile path that winds alongside, and at several points crosses, a babbling creek.
