PERFECT!! By far the best AirBnB we have ever stayed in. Debra and Rachel have thought of everything. They even provided firewood for the fire pit. The listing and the pictures are spot on. Loved how it was decorated. Very peaceful location and still just a few minutes drive to town to some great restaurants. Good central location for Shenandoah National Park, battlefields and even a day trip to DC. The hosts answered all our questions very quick. Loved the welcome snack and fruit. Comfy beds and everyone loved the couch and chairs in the living room. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it for sure! We miss Old Blue already.

Beautiful condo near two local marinas - nice quiet private deck on the channel. We didn't have a boat to launch, but a perfect spot for it. Felt safe - place was extremely clean & newly remodeled. Large bedroom, bathroom and living space. Will definitely stay again!
Cabin in Mineral
4.95 out of 5 average rating, 22 reviewsLakefront Cabin; new boathouse w/ bar; pickleball
This is our 2nd visit to Jessica’s amazing cabin. We played pickleball every day for exercise and fun. Both the front and back yard are extremely spacious and lush—loved seeing the sun come up over the boat house and shimmer on the waters of the cove. All the furnishings and linens are quality and so comfortable—kitchen was well-stocked for the meals we cooked. We did day trips to Richmond a lot (only 1 hour away) and visited Madison’s Montpelier. Food Lion is only about 8 mins away—so convenient! Jessica has notes & instructions that are so helpful and she is a kind, generous, proactive, very responsive host! We cannot wait to get our adult children here together as we know they will LOVE making memories here. THREE bathrooms, folks! That is so hard to find on air bnbs sometimes! Charming and cozy best describe this family cabin—it is very “upscale” indoors—not rustic—it has all the comforts and joys you could want in a vacation home away from home—and a zillion dvds to watch!

We had an amazing stay at Sandy and Chris’s place! From the moment we arrived, Chris went out of his way to make us feel welcome, offering a tour of the property. We got to meet Jasper, their friendly donkey, and the cows, which was such a unique experience. Chris also treated us to some fresh figs, which we picked right off the tree! The house itself was well-equipped with everything we could possibly need. Chris kindly walked us through how to use the gas grill and hot tub, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed. Sandy and Chris were gracious hosts, and their attention to detail made our stay comfortable and memorable. We highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a relaxing and unique getaway!

Girls weekend out. We were left alone but still felt safe. Drove into Charlottesville to visit Monticello & wineries. Had no problems driving back as dusk. House was very clean, spacious layout. No icemaker but was provided a bag of ice. Lots of options to watch TV. We did not use the large deck but would be great to watch sunrise. Definitely on our list next time in the area.

Peaceful space in a beautiful location. The house is gorgeous and well laid out with plenty of space to spend together or tuck off for some privacy. The teens loved the downstairs area equipped with gaming table, arcade, movie theater, gym, kitchenette coffee bar, and bedroom. Which left the rest of the house for me to relax. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is very well stocked. This home boasts an amazing backyard right on Lake Anna with an amazing deck complete with comfortable deck furniture a gazebo and bar. Plenty of water toys to keep everyone entertained for days. The girls spent all weekend on the paddle boards or kayaking all over the lake. We will absolutely be back!

Your guide to Lake Anna
Introduction
The clean, placid waters of Lake Anna draw visitors from Washington, D.C., and the Eastern Seaboard from spring until late fall. Nine thousand acres of this 17-mile-long reservoir, created by the North Anna Dam, are open to the public. Many people rent a boat to explore the lake’s secluded coves and fishing nooks, and families with children who love swimming will find a sandy, well-guarded beach in Lake Anna State Park. Fishing, sailing, and jet skiing may take up the bulk of your retreat, but you can also spend a day or two exploring picturesque towns like Fredericksburg, Bumpass, and Charlottesville, or the historical battlefields that surround the lake. Or your retreat may bring you to the wineries and craft cider makers who have found a home in Central Virginia.
The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Lake Anna
From mid-May through the end of September, the temperatures rarely drop below 60 degrees Fahrenheit and often climb into the 90s, especially in July and August. Not surprisingly, these are the peak times for both tourism and lake activity. Don’t forget sunscreen if you’re on the water, but pack an umbrella and raincoat in case of summer downpours.
Autumn stretches from October through November, and if you’re staying in one of Lake Anna’s vacation rentals during this time, you’ll likely need a warm jacket. Winters here are not harsh, but the temperature often drops below freezing, so bring your snow gear. Spring starts in March, with the return of flowers and foliage and gently warming weather.
Top things to do in Lake Anna
Lake Anna State Park
Located on the north end of Lake Anna, this state park offers the area’s best beach, broad and sandy, as well as more than 15 miles of hiking and horse trails that skirt the lake’s ruffled shoreline or meander through the woodlands. Many of the trails, as well as the fishing pond, are wheelchair accessible.
Spotsylvania Battlefield
In May 1864, the Union and Confederate armies waged war for two weeks near the Spotsylvania Courthouse, located 18 miles northeast of Lake Anna, and tens of thousands of soldiers were killed or wounded here. The National Park Service has created self-guided walking and driving tours of this important battlefield as well as other nearby Civil War sites. You can also wander around the Spotsylvania Courthouse Historic District nearby to admire the centuries-old homes and public buildings.
Fishing
Fishing tournaments on Lake Anna start in the spring and go well into fall, thanks in part to water warmed by the power plant on the south shore. You’ll find a number of boat rental companies around the area, as well as chartered fishing boats. Most fishers are on the hunt for largemouth bass, crappie, and striped bass.
