Shepherd’s hut in Saint Briavels
4.98 out of 5 average rating, 130 reviewsWoodland Hideawayhut, Wye valley Forest of Dean
We had a fantastic stay at the woodland hut. The setting was so peaceful and tucked away in the woods, making it a great spot to relax and felt completely private. We had sunshine for one day which was so gorgeous, and rain which was very cosy in the cabin! The hot tub was a real highlight, easy to warm up and lovely to relax in. We brought our dog who loves exploring in the leaves and pottering around the hut. The ingredients for pancakes were a nice touch and we had a tasty breakfast. We also ordered the supper hamper, which was delicious and well worth it. All in all, it was a perfect escape, we didn’t want to leave!

My friend and I had a really enjoyable stay in the Gypsy bowtop Greta. We had a very friendly welcome and helpful show round on arrival. Greta was a perfect size for the two of us and spotlessly clean. The beds were so comfy - we slept so well! Loo and showers were a short walk from the caravan but no problems with needing to queue or anything. Shower was warm and powerful - amazing! We were here for the Hay festival and it was so nice being able to walk in everyday. Would definitely love to come back.

We loved our stay in the shepherd's hut... thanks Carol! The hut is gorgeous and in beautiful surroundings. We had everything we needed as it's set out really well. We enjoyed sitting out in the sunshine as well as being cosy with the lit log burner. It works well for all weathers. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was hot and powerful... perfect. We stayed to help set up and attend a wedding, just wish we could've stayed longer to take advantage of more walks and wild swimming... although we did manage to enjoy a walk to The Crown pub for a delicious meal before we left! Thanks again Carol.

We loved our stay on the shepherds hut, which looked and felt new, and was beautifully finished. Fantastic location, great for local walks (we walked to The Open Ditch pub) and amazing views from the bed & seating area. Very accommodating hosts, super helpful and responsive. We’d definitely consider staying again! Would recommend. Thank you so much!!

Rosalind was an incredible host! The place was gorgeous and exactly how it was described. Everything was absolutely spotless in the hut and the bed was so comfortable. We had the best sleep ever. The three dogs were adorable and greeted us with cuddles. The farm was amazing and we were even fortunate enough to see a baby calf one hour after it was born! We couldn’t recommend it here any more and we will most definitely be back!

We had a wonderful stay with our dog Riley. It was our first time taking him away as an anxious dog and the hut’s setting was perfect. We enjoyed the peaceful area, fire pit in the evening and the cosy fire in the hut. We appreciated the clear instructions prior to our stay. We found the hut had everything we needed for our short stay. We hope to return for a longer stay in the future. Thank you ☺️ ✨
Shepherd’s hut in Kingsthorne
4.95 out of 5 average rating, 82 reviewsShepherds Hideaway, cosy with private hot tub.
Emily’s place was a lovely secluded stay! With two active and very good at escaping dogs, considering we had some sheep and horse neighbours they couldn’t get out anywhere! It was a very nice thing to know our dogs were safe and secure to run around and didn’t need tying up. The hot tub was heaven after exploring and walking each day, and if we had spent longer here we would’ve checked out the lovely woodland that overlooks the property. The place is extremely private even though the owners are just next door, it doesn’t feel it and you aren’t overlooked by anyone or anything (aside from sheep 😂) Everywhere was pretty clean and tidy, the kitchen is very minimal with appliances but understandable due to the space; the only thing we had to do was give the frying pan an extra clean before use :) All in all, everything we needed was there, plenty of wood for the fire inside and out & the layout is lovely. You don’t feel cramped even with two big dogs and two people!

My boyfriend and I only stayed one night in Vanessa’s place, but we wished we could have stayed for longer! The shepherd’s hut was so cosy, super clean and beautifully decorated (we particularly loved the hot drink selection!). The area is beautiful and brilliantly located to explore the Cotswolds, with some lovely walks and pubs nearby too. The perfect getaway for our anniversary - we will definitely be back to stay again one day!!

Absolutely loved our stay at Cross Oaks Shepherd hut, it’s such a beautiful location and we were really lucky with the weather! Highly recommend, Emma’s really friendly and helpful via the app, and has even offered to post my coat back to us after forgetting it🙈. We booked it because we had a stargazing experience with dark skies wales which was breathtaking but even just outside the hut the view was amazing, there’s no light pollution at all. The perfect getaway!!

This is our second time staying with Anne now ,We've stayed in both Shepherds Huts and neither have disappointed, We have came back this time for our 6 year Anniversary and it's an absolutely stunning place to connect with each other and just relax, Anne is very friendly and made sure our stay was exactly as we wanted , We went to The Carpenters Arms for food which i highly recommend and The Bear and Swan do a lovely Breakfast I would recommend you book The Lazy Lobster though as we unfortuantely didn't and couldn't get a seat ,However this seems to be a very popular eatery My partner and I have left feeling relaxed and calm and was just what we needed, we will be back again next year Something to note is the wi fi isn't amazing due to the location however this is a huge positive as if your looking for time to connect with your partner then what better way than to put your phone down and enjoy each other 😊 I would still rate both Shepherds Hut's a 5* even with this in mind

Myself and my partner had a beautiful stay for my 30th. The place is small and concise but has everything you would need. The location and views are absolutely beautiful. We went on some lovely walks and fed the horses. Snuggled up by the fire and really switched off. We loved it. Hope to come back in the summer.

We spent a long weekend at Elizabeth's place for my birthday and it could not have been more perfect! We woke up to local wildlife every morning, cooked breakfast ourselves. At night, we gazed at the stars, toasted mallows, and fell asleep to the sounds of rainfall. How much cosier could it get! The hut was clean, well-maintained and with plenty of amenities, including little additions that made it all the more special (star-gazing trailer is a truly unique plus!). Elizabeth was so genial in offering to heat the hot tub for us before we arrived, and even provided little treats to welcome us! We received great local recommendations for walks and even saw two young bucks out in the fields! (along with plenty of pheasants!) It's in a great location to explore by car or on foot. everything is within 1h drive. This is a perfect spot to explore all of what The Cotswolds has to offer. Could not have asked for a better birthday getaway. Thank you ❤️

I couldn't recommend Mark and Teresa's shepherd's hut enough! The stay was lovely, far exceeding any Airbnb experience I've ever had in the 11 years of using it. Mark and Teresa were extremely kind and welcoming and put pure love into building their accommodation and making you feel welcome. I will for sure be back and fully confident everyone will feel the same.

My sister and I had a lovely overnight stay. Rita was excellent from booking right through to our stay. She made us feel very welcome and showed us where to find everything in the hut. She also told us where to find the nearest shop. Had a lovely chat with Rita and found out we both came from the same area originally. The shepherds hut was just as described. Was lovely and warm on arrival and very clean. Had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable. Lovely little touch with the Welsh cakes on arrival. We wandered down to the local pub and was made to feel very welcome. And the 40p pool table made it even better. Would definitely love to stay again if ever in the area. Thank you Rita for a lovely stay.

We had the most amazing stay here - it's a perfect little weekend retreat that exceeds expectations in every way! It is beautifully decorated, cozy, and secluded with a private entrance off the side of the driveway. The location itself is beautiful, with a stunning view from the cabin, lovely walks and quaint villages all nearby. The place was spotless and modern, and the amenities were lovely (hot tub, smart tv, bbq etc). We highly recommend ordering the do-it-yourself full English breakfast, it was delicious! Janine was the perfect host, always willing to go that extra mile to ensure we had the best possible stay - thank you SO much for the anniversary decorations!! We absolutely loved the welcome basket you left for us and all of your thoughtful recommendations of walks and pubs - we will definitely be back again!! The perfect weekend getaway!
