The Shell Hunter

LisaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Extremely clean and comfortable home. Very quiet area and convenient to so much. You can easily walk to many shops and dining locations. The towels looked brand new and the home had everything we needed for our stay. Keurig had both a pot and single cup dispenser...loved it so much we may get one. Communication with Janel was excellent and entrance to the home was a keypad and made it so easy to come and go. We utilized the roomy upstairs bed and bathroom for our stay and other guests used one of the downstairs bedrooms and bathroom. House is well laid out. Long driveway - easily fits 2 cars and street parking was available, if needed.

Bluewater Couples Escape

CindyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
It was perfect for our long weekend of relaxation. Loved that it had a balcony to sit after a day on the beach and for morning coffee. The bed was decent. We were off season so it was quiet and peaceful. The decor and layout worked well for us. The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast and snacks. Very close to the beach. We needed to change the dates, Amy and Brooke accommodated without an issue. Looking for a peaceful place to stay, book here.

Edgewater Escape - Bayfront Condo w/Private Porch

AndreaRating, 5 stars3 days ago
We enjoyed this property for its gorgeous bayview, location, comfortable bed and cleanliness. It was fantastic being able to walk to the boardwalk and to Saturday night Mass! It was ideal for us as a couple but might be challenging for families with the winding stairs and open loft bedroom.

Location was perfect! Only 1 1/2 blocks to the beach! Ben was a great communicator, gave clear instructions and had everything labeled. The bed was comfy and the apartment was well stocked, especially with beach items, i.e. chairs, umbrellas, beach toys. Thanks for a nice stay.

Spacious Luxury Studio in Ocean City

JaimeRating, 5 stars4 days ago
It was the perfect space. We have stayed at a number of ABNB's and this, by far, tops them all. It was so quiet it was almost surreal. Everywhere you go these days, noise seems to be an issue. Not at this place. Chris and Sarah were available by phone and in-person(Chris). This is a can't miss spot for anyone looking for a cozy, quiet, relaxing place to get away to.

We had the most amazing getaway to Chincoteague at Jennifer’s place. It was beyond clean, cozy and super cute! It felt like such an oasis and it was so close to the local shops/food spots. Jennifer was super responsive and so thoughtful and kind. If we ever return to Chincoteague we would definitely look out for another availability to stay at her place if she’ll have us again!

Bell Farm Cottage LLC - quiet and peaceful

ZhannaRating, 5 stars4 days ago
The Bell Farm a cottage is a beautiful and comfortable property located in a peace of heaven that ESVA is. Beds are comfy, back patio is ideal for a morning coffee and journaling or an afternoon book read. Bathrooms and shower have everything you need, and the kitchen is stocked with snacks and any kitchenware you may need for a meal. What made this stay for me is Tia who is an incredibly attentive and kind hostess! From personal touches like fresh cut flowers from her pollinator garden, to a welcome note, to mindful check-ins to make sure I settled in and have what I need - Tia made me feel truly welcome! I absolutely recommend this property and hope I will be back myself.

Private Country Beach Retreat

Jo-AnnRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Our stay at this stunning Airbnb home on the Chesapeake Bay was nothing short of magical. The breathtaking waterfront views greeted us every morning, and the serene ambiance made it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The house was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially loved the spacious deck where we enjoyed our morning coffee while watching the sunrise over the bay. We can’t wait to return to this little slice of paradise!

The Boathouse: Charming & Historic Waterfront Stay

ClaudiaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We absolutely loved the boathouse. It was a very special property. The views of the marsh, the dock, the interior charm, and comfort were exactly what we were looking for. My husband and I took our teenage son and his buddies for his 17th birthday and we all fell in love with the house. It’s the type of house you also want to spend time in . Would stay again in a heartbeat. Chincoteague is also one of our favorite beaches on the East coast.

Your guide to Chincoteague

All About Chincoteague

Seven miles long and half as wide, Chincoteague Island is located at the north end of the chain of barrier islands that hug Virginia’s coastline. It’s a popular getaway for visitors from up and down the Eastern Seaboard. You can relax on the seashore, take a boat cruise to scout for the area’s famous wild ponies, or ride a bike around town and across the bridge to Assateague Island. Clamming and crabbing are favorite local activities: You can buy the equipment to catch your own seafood or gorge on blue crabs at one of the local restaurants, finishing up with a trip to the island’s beloved ice cream shop.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Chincoteague

Not surprisingly, peak travel season in Chincoteague coincides with the hottest months of the year: June through September. Temperatures then average in the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit. The humidity spikes in July and August, with regular showers, so you’ll want to pack light, breathable clothes and umbrellas. Winds blowing off the Atlantic Ocean do help to relieve the mugginess — and you can always jump in the water to cool off. A gentle autumn gives way to a mild winter. Snow is rare, but the temperatures regularly dip into the 30s Fahrenheit, and the winds can be brisk. Bring lined waterproof outerwear and good boots, and you’re set to wander on the beach no matter what month you visit.

Top things to do in Chincoteague

Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge

This 14,000-acre refuge was founded in the 1940s to protect the wildfowl who migrate here during the winters. Its beaches, marshes, and dunes stretch across the southern end of Assateague and onto surrounding islands. More than 300 species of birds nest here, including bald eagles, making this a paradise for birders. Short, accessible trails for walking and biking snake through the wetlands, including one that leads to the 19th-century Assateague Lighthouse.

Wallops Flight Facility

Five miles east of Chincoteague is NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility, which the agency uses to launch research rockets and balloons. The garden at the Visitor Center will appeal to anyone who’s dreamed of escaping the Earth’s atmosphere, with spacecraft and airplanes on display. You can sign up for a guided tour of the center’s displays, or consult the schedule to see if a launch will be taking place.

Assateague Island National Seashore

Hop east from Chincoteague over a small stretch of water, and you’ve arrived at the Atlantic Ocean. The southernmost beach of 37-mile-long Assateague Island is a skinny isthmus covered in soft sands and, in the summer, beach towels. There are lifeguard-monitored swimming zones, as well as spots ideal for surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and surf fishing. If you drive to the beach you’ll need to buy a daily or weekly pass.
