Our small family and our doggie had such a wonderful time. We loved every second of it We got a little rain in the morning of the second day and that just made the experience better. We got to watch the rain storm from the dome, play some board games and just have a wonderful time. Thank you to our lovely hosts We had such a great time. We are already talking about going back

Nortehaus is an incredible and peaceful stay! The home is something out of a dream, the modern architecture is stunning and peaceful. Parker was an incredible host - communication was always reliable and responsive. Never felt out of touch. 100% we will come back again and would recommend it to anyone looking to get away to disconnect and unwind. No screens, perfect place to connect with your partner or to just reset.

Riverside Tree House

SandraRating, 5 stars4 days ago
The treehouse is the perfect retreat in nature to get away from it all. Cozy, cute and relaxing with all the amenities you need to have a low-key break. It might be small but it fit myself, 6’5” partner and 65lb dog perfectly! The host has thought of all the small conveniences - tea, coffee, kettle, books and games - to make an off the grid experience comfy. The bbq and campfire made dinner time easy, with cutlery / plates and dishes all available. Lighting was great and even though we stayed in late October and woke up to -2C, the stove fire kept us warm all night. Loved this experience and can’t wait to go back

Rudy's Rustic Cabin

HeidiRating, 5 stars6 days ago
Our stay was just magical! We’ve stayed in a lot of little cabins over the years and this just might be our favourite! It was so peaceful and inviting. We didn’t have the pleasure of meeting our hosts, but we did play fetch with the resident dog, who was an absolute sweetheart! Fishing in the little lake near by was also FANTASTIC! I will definitely keep this place in our favourites!

Very nice experience! Perfect intimate site for a romantic getaway! Bed with ultra cozy memory foam style quality mattress. Jennifer’s yurt is a magical spot and she is an excellent host. There were so many thoughtful details that made our stay very comfortable. She really thought of everything you’d need and clearly communicated where to find things. The surroundings are gorgeous and the park across the road is a real plus. We highly recommend this place and will be returning to check out her other listing sometime soon.

Blysteiner lake domes

Very wonderful, serene spot. Inside does not do the pics justice. If you want a calm, spacious, beautiful spot to relax and reconnect this is definitely it. If you prefer to be more private, the space does have large curtains to meet your needs. The hottub was offered to us and so were kayaks, fishing pole and lures. I can't get over how great our stay was. We will definitely be back.

Oceanfront Luxury Glamping Dome

DanielRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Ashley’s place was absolutely beautiful. it is the most peaceful quaint location you could ever ask for. We went here for our honeymoon, beautiful private beach, amazing views a short walk away. The inside of the globe and the outside was so inviting. The record player was a huge hit! A short drive away, great food, and drinks from their brewery. Better yet extremely dark skies unbelievable for viewing stars and the Milky Way, especially from the hot tub. Thanks again!

Newfoundland Beach House

JulieRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Words can't describe how beautiful this property is. The home is perched on a cliffside with incredible views of the ocean on every level. We felt like we were in a gorgeous boat minus the rocking. We loved the clean, casual-modern feel, the wide open living spaces, the incredible artwork on every wall, the lack of clutter, the huge windows looking out on the ocean. The place was spotless and all linens smelled so fresh and crisp. It felt very private but was very close to the main town of St. John's and other points of interest. Kim and Tammy were very responsive, always answering our questions and offering suggestions within a few minutes. Of all the places we have ever stayed while traveling, this is the most memorable, the most incredible. It truly was a restorative week for us. We did not want to leave and will most certainly try to come back again and again.

Your guide to Canada

Welcome to Canada

If you could design a country for the sole purpose of road tripping, you couldn’t do any better than Canada, where seemingly endless highways zigzag through evergreen forests, past towering peaks, and along rugged shorelines. From the Rocky Mountains in the west to thundering Niagara Falls to the east, the sprawling landscapes and natural wonders are the definition of wild. By land mass, Canada is only outsized by Russia. It’s so big that its three largest national parks — Wood Buffalo, Nahanni, and Quttinirpaaq — could each swallow smaller countries whole.

All of that open space in the Great White North makes outdoor recreation, from hiking trails in the summer to skating across frozen lakes in the winter, favorite national pastimes. Rafters ride the rapids of thrilling waterways like the Ottawa, Kicking Horse, and Chilcotin rivers. Ski towns like Banff in Alberta and Whistler in British Columbia have become synonymous with world-class snow sports. And while many of the 10 provinces remain sparsely populated, the largest cities pack a global punch: Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver are thriving cosmopolitan metropolises, each earning international acclaim for their arts and culinary scenes. Truly, Canada shows off its remarkable diversity at every turn.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Canada

There’s a reason Canada was nicknamed the Great White North: Winters get icy and subarctic cold throughout much of the country. Unsurprisingly, winter sports such as ice hockey, ice fishing, skiing, and snowshoeing are widely popular activities. But even in the snowiest months of December, January, and February, Canada’s sheer size makes for varied climates. In general, the coastal areas of British Columbia, the westernmost province, remain the mildest throughout the year, with drizzly winters and balmy summers.

All of Canada’s major cities experience distinct seasons, with gardens blossoming in the spring, outdoor festivals booming throughout the summer, and colorful foliage in the country’s many urban parks luring out leaf peepers in the fall. In the great outdoors, summer is the high season, as mountain trails to dazzling alpine lakes finally become accessible when snow melts late into June at the highest elevations. And any trip to Canada demands at least a few licks of maple syrup — even better at one of the many springtime festivals dedicated to the seasonal tapping of the sap.

Top things to do in Canada

Historic District of Old Quebec

No other place in North America has quite the European flair of Old Quebec, the only walled city in North America north of Mexico. Today this historic district — dating from the early 16th century — forms the cultural center of Quebec City, the capital of the province of Quebec. Its charming French- and British-era architecture is so significant and well preserved it’s been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you’ll find independent boutiques and little cafes filling pedestrian areas like the compact Quartier Petit Champlain, one of the oldest shopping districts on the continent.

Banff National Park

Canada’s world-renowned national parks preserve some of North America’s most scenic landscapes, with Banff being the first and arguably most dramatic of them all. This slice of Alberta’s Rocky Mountains is a year-round alpine playground. In the summer, hikers and bikers take to the trails lacing across the backcountry and circling turquoise lakes. Winter action turns to the slopes, when the resort town of Banff buzzes with skiers and snowshoers chasing the fresh powder.

Niagara Falls

Once you slip on your waterproof poncho and get a close-up look at this trio of thundering cascades, you’ll understand why Niagara Falls has wooed so many honeymooners here for centuries: The views of the rapids tumbling over the glacier-carved cliffs are magnificently poetic. The unmatched popularity of the falls certainly draws crowds, but it’s easy to get off the typical track with active side trips such as Niagara Glen, where you can hike trails through the scenic Niagara Gorge, and tasting tours in the surrounding wine country.
