Villa in Coral Bay

Memory Daze

JessicaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
This villa is exactly as photographed. The view is spectacular. The villa was extremely comfortable and has everything we needed for a great week. We had a fully stocked kitchen for cooking at home as well as everything you would need for a day at the beach. The location was great for all the restaurants in Coral Bay and it was equal distance to Ram’s Head Trail/Salt Pond as well as the North Shore beaches. Finally, I have to stress the view and the many hours we sat and enjoy the beautiful patio. Would highly recommend booking here.

Hoos House

LauraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Lovely little house very close to Cruz Bay. Having AC in the bedrooms was a nice amenity and the porch has a great view! Note that it is a shared space in that there is a duplex just above (the blue building) and a person who lives below (and has a deck just below the Hoos House deck). We didn't have any issues with these people as far as noise or otherwise, but it wasn't quite as private as we expected. We also had some trouble using the app, but Andrew sent a code and that worked just fine. In general, it's a great location to the west/north side of the island, restaurants, and grocery store and a comfy space!

Turtle’s Nest : Caribbean Studio Retreat

SamRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a wonderful stay here! The location is perfect, just a short drive to Cruz Bay and some of the most beautiful beaches. The space itself is cozy and well-kept, with a lot of charm. The hosts were incredibly hospitable, and the friendly pets who came to visit added a special touch to the experience. Highly recommend

Cutest studio in town! 5-minute drive to town

EvaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This tiny space is perfect for 2 people. It was very clean and had everything a reasonable person might need. Peaceful location, while still very close to the ferry or downtown, as well as the best beaches. Great balcony. Loved it, wish we stayed there longer than a day.

One bedroom cottage on the water

ElizabethRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had an amazing time staying at this cottage! It was off the beaten path and it had amazing views all around. This place didn't loose power or water at all during our week's stay, which we didn't know, but based on other tourist we met that isn't the norm in other places on the island. Our host Ann Marie was exceptional, she helped us feel right at home from the first minute we got there and had some great local recommendations for food and activities. All the instructions we received were detailed and very helpful. We can't wait to visit again!

NEW Spacious 3 bed villa w/t Pool & Ocean View

ToddRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Six of us stayed here in August. Upon arrival, Alex met us by the ferry and patiently waited as we signed for our rental car near the dock. We then followed Alex up the hill (be prepared) and he showed us the amenities of the house. The driveway up to Alex’s is very steep so I recommend a Jeep. The parking spot is a tight space but it gets easier with more practice. Alex was responsive with any questions asked. You have to be cognizant of island living with their resources. Due to this, the water pressure is faint the majority of the time, and we would schedule the showers at different times. The laundry on site was nice for the beach/pool towels. The kitchen is absolutely beautiful and has great appliances. The bedrooms were very nice and had comfortable Bed and linens. The view is spectacular and the pool was refreshing after a day at the beach. We would return.

Charming 2 Bed 2 Bath Villa with Infinity Pool

JeffreyRating, 5 stars4 days ago
This was the perfect place for us two couples to split the cost and get to stay at a magnificent house. We had the upstairs bedroom and they down below. Each with a nice custom walk-in shower. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook but never really did. We hung out a lot on the two decks and beautiful pool when we weren’t beach’n. Good location on the island. We’ve always stayed on Coral Bay side of island and was worried we wouldn’t like staying on the Cruz Bay side. Convenient to restaurants and a nice grocery store.

Your guide to Saint John

Introduction

Saint John may be the smallest of the three main U.S. Virgin islands, but it’s also the one that offers visitors a true sense of escape. Most of the vacation rentals and restaurants are concentrated around Cruz Bay on the western shore and Coral Bay on the east. A national park covers three-fifths of the remaining land, making it easy to get away from the crowds and occasional cruise-ship daytrippers as you hike or snorkel at Virgin Islands National Park. Miles of trails wend up St. John’s forested ridges, leading to views that don’t include high-rise developments. And, of course, the island is ringed with white, soft-sand beaches, where you can spend the day lolling in the sun, occasionally dipping into the pristine waters of the Caribbean.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Saint John

There's a reason St. John is a popular tourist destination in winter — when the temperatures are in the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit from December through March, mainland Americans can pretend snow doesn’t exist. The heat begins a slow climb in April through June, the driest time of year. Tropical showers begin in July, so you’ll want to pack an umbrella along with sunblock free of reef-damaging chemicals. Autumn through October is peak rainy season as well as the hottest time of year, with temperatures in the 80s Fahrenheit and up. Those months are also peak hurricane season — although hurricanes are rare, consider purchasing travel insurance just in case.

Top things to do in Saint John

Snorkeling in Trunk Bay

This bay, part of the national park, is the best spot for first-time snorkelers. It’s easy to get to by car or taxi, for one. Not only do lifeguards keep watch, there’s a 300-foot trail with underwater plaques identifying some of the corals and underwater fauna you’ll see in the clear blue waters.

Island hopping

Many people who come to St. John don’t stay there the whole time. From Cruz Bay, ferries and boat tours can take you to the more populous St. Thomas, St. Croix, or Tortola. You could also hire a private charter to bring you to Virgin Gorda to swim at the Baths, or to Jost Van Dyke to hang out at the famous Soggy Dollar Bar.

Virgin Islands National Park

Many scenic trails wind their way through this park, bringing you to gorgeous spots that won’t be covered in beach umbrellas. Snorkelers can strap their equipment to their back and head down the 1.6-mile Brown Bay Trail to a secluded cove with shallow, calm waters. For more seasoned hikers, the 4-mile out-and-back Reef Bay Trail, includes a steep ascent, but it brings you to the site of ancient petroglyphs as well as the shores of Reef Bay.
