Yvan, the host couldn't have been more helpful or genuine during our stay. He gave us a lamp for when the electric went off, which was often, organized a barber and a taxi both at a good price and answered all our questions.

The staff is very friendly, there are a few good restaurants nearby. Gibara is a real undiscovered gem of Cuba and Yvan's place is the perfect place to discover it.

We loved Sol y Mar. Yvan was simply the most perfect host. His staff are great and they are an excellent team. We had all breakfasts and dinners at the casa and the food was delicious.

Very nice and atmospheric hostel. Super clean and very detailed finished building. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast and dinner, which they served in the separate dining room.
