The Old Jail was built in 1879 as Parke County's third jail, serving the community until 1998. Designed by Thomas J. Tolan and Son from Fort Wayne, Indiana, the building reflects an Italianate architectural style, typical of late 19th-century construction with its brick structure.

The jail was not just a place of incarceration but also featured advanced heating technology for its time. It was connected via underground tunnels to the courthouse for hot water heating, showcasing early innovative use of technology in public buildings.

Fun fact: My wife and I have 18 Airbnb rentals.
My wife and I love to travel when we can. We are both big Colts fans. Lucas Oil Stadium is rated as the best stadium in the world. This is because Colts fans are welcoming and hospitable to their guests. We want to have this same reputation on our rentals. Please see our listings below and if you come to the Old Jail Inn, don't forget to visit the Drunk Tank Winery. It's a laid back wine bar that's all about having fun.
