The space
The home has a rustic charm with an array of modern furnishings, antiques and artistic touches. It is clean and comfortable with with all the modern amenities. Radiant floor heat will keep you cozy in winter and the A/C comfortable in summer. There are several AC units throughout the house. As this is a log home, there is no central air therefore you cannot make that AC ice cold., but it is comfortable. A fully equipped kitchen with complimentary coffee and tea during your stay. Drinking water is provided as the property has only a geothermal water source. This means that there is only hot water from the taps.

The ground floor hosts an open kitchen/dining/living great room, a half bath and master bedroom. The living area has a large screen, WIFI equipped TV to access your Amazon, Hulu or Netflix accounts in addition to a DVD player. You will also find a Room & Board leather couch with a California queen sized hide-a-bed. Very comfortable. A twin sized sleeper chair pullout is also available. All pullout beds have lots of linens and blankets too.

The Master Bedroom has a queen bed, chaise lounge, walk-in closet and private full bath equipped with a claw foot tub. Laundry facilities are also part of the walk-in closet in this space. This bedroom is the only one that is completely private.

Upstairs are two “open-air” loft style bedrooms both with queen beds, a full bath with shower, writers nook and private deck. The loft bedrooms are not completely enclosed but are separated from each other by the bathroom.

The jewel of the house is the front porch! Gorgeous views anytime of day or night and bird watchers will love it. Bring your binoculars! Watch the full moon rise over the butte or just relax with a cup of coffee or glass of wine!

The property is blessed to have a natural hot water hot springs (also called Geothermal water.) Soak up the healing waters in the lovely in ground concrete hot pool that comfortably fits 4 adults. We have heard that 6 people can squeeze in if need be. Children also love this warm pool.

There is a garage on the property that is Amy's art studio. She may be working during your stay. If you are interested in seeing what projects are underway in the studio please knock on the door to see if she is available!

Why spell it "Croas" Nest instead of Crows Nest?

The builder of the house and a dear friend, Dave Croasdaille, pronounced Crowsdale, created his "nest" up on the hill outside of Buhl when he retired. Indeed you feel like a bird perched on the porch almost level with the flight path of ospreys, herons, pelicans, birds of prey and migratory song birds. Dave loved creating ceramics, dancing, living a health conscious lifestyle and gardening. His passion was growing daffodils. Neighbors enjoyed receiving bouquets of daffodils in early spring from "Daffodil Dave."

The natural surroundings, the gardens, landscaping and water features create a peaceful, pleasant atmosphere all year round. We want our guests to unwind, re-charge and soak up the healing hot waters and beauty of the area!

Guest access
The entire house and grounds are accessible to guests. The garage is not accessible to guests.

Other things to note
We ask for a two night minimum. If you need a single night stay don't hesitate to ask and we will see if we can accommodate your request. However, Friday and Saturday nights are typically saved for the 2 night minimum. We are more open to 1 night stays Sunday - Thursday nights.

Neighborhood highlights

The Croas Nest is located in Southern Idaho between Hagerman and Buhl. We are about 2 hours from Boise and 40 minutes from Twin Falls. We are on the “Thousand Springs Scenic Byway” (HWY 30) and over the course of 20 miles or so there are literally thousands of natural springs pouring out of the basalt cliffs along the Snake River. Our area is blessed with geothermal hot water and there are several Hot Springs Resorts nearby as well as many properties utilizing the hot water for large greenhouses, growing food and flowers year round. The Croas Nest uses geothermal as its only water source. It is used for heat, comes out of all taps and showers and is used in the outdoor hot tub.

There is a small private access point for the river, just below the house and across the road. From here one could launch a canoe, kayak or SUP carried down from the house. Banbury or Thousand Springs Resorts have boat launches for larger vessels.

There are hikes and unique places to explore such as Box Canyon State Park, Thousand Springs State Park, Ritter Island, Hagerman Fossil Beds and Shoshone Falls. We are happy to suggest places to explore.

Hagerman offers a few places to eat. Snake River Grill and Fire Pie Pizza are good bets. The Wilson Club offers a saloon like atmosphere for a drink out.

Love Mexican food? La Plaza in Buhl is a treasured place for good authentic Mexican with homemade tortillas. Also in Buhl, Cloverleaf Creamery is a local favorite for ice cream and dairy goods.

Hello! My husband Jay, our daughter Tesla and I (Amy) have a small 2 acre organic homestead within one mile of the Croas Nest. We love creating our dream place complete with chickens, cows, a fruit orchard, veggie gardens and flowers. We are artists and fabricators and always have a building project or art commission that we are working on. Amy's art studio is located in the garage at the Croas Nest where she works in kiln-formed glass and printmaking. Jay is a wearer of all hats....and has incredible talent with wood working and metal smithing. But most of all we practice "the art of living well." We all enjoy exploring the outdoors, hiking, camping, biking and experiencing the wonders of nature!
