The space
The Sanctuary: A Custom-Built Group Retreat
The Sanctuary is a sprawling, custom-built 8-bedroom house designed specifically for large group gatherings and nature immersion. This is not a standard villa; it's a living environment where modern comfort meets the Malaysian rainforest.
Layout & Rooms: The house is spread across 1.5 levels, and includes a massive open-air Common Hall—the ideal central hub for dining, meetings, and games. Our eight bedrooms offer flexible sleeping arrangements:
4 Premium High-Ceiling Rooms: These rooms are the largest, each equipped with a King bed, a Bunk bed, and a Pull-out trundle bed.
4 Charming Lower-Ceiling Rooms: These rooms each contain three comfortable single beds.
Every single bedroom guarantees privacy with its own attached, en-suite bathroom.
Outdoor Living: The highlight is our ground-level Patio which seamlessly connects the indoors with the riverbank. This is where you’ll find the BBQ area and the best views of the River Selaru, giving your group direct access to the water and the surrounding jungle landscape.
Guest access
Guests will have exclusive, private access to the entire Sanctuary house for the duration of their stay. This includes all 8 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, the full kitchen, the giant common area, and the ground-level Patio and BBQ area overlooking the river.
Access also includes a private section of the river stream and ample secure parking spaces within the gated compound.
No areas or amenities are shared with other guests or houses in the Serendah River Retreat.

Safety & Environmental Rules
River Safety is Paramount: The River Selaru adjacent to the house is a pristine natural feature but parental supervision is required at all times. Kindly avoid the river areas during or immediately after rain, if it looks gloomy, or if there is thunder/lightning. Raining can occur long before it is felt at The Sanctuary, which can cause river water to flow rapidly from upstream.
No Smoking Indoors: Smoking (including vaping and e-cigarettes) is strictly prohibited inside all 8 bedrooms and the common hall. Please only use the designated outdoor patio/BBQ area. Fees apply for smoke residue found indoors.
Quiet Hours: We ask that all guests respect the serene nature of the retreat and keep noise to a minimum after 10:00 PM.
Guest Information
Waterfall Hike: Feel free to explore the surrounding nature! A beautiful, secluded waterfall hike is available nearby (approximately 1 hour walk). Please check the weather before setting out and wear appropriate footwear. Our housekeeper Abang Hafiz can be your guide there.
Parking: Ample, secure parking space is available within the gated compound for your group.
