Welcome to Mather's Cabin, a 3-bedroom A-frame cabin in the Shenandoah National Park foothills where the trees seem to lean in and whisper mountain secrets.

When you enter the cabin, you'll feel at home right away. The open living area is roomy and has comfortable furniture for relaxing. The three bedrooms are upstairs and each has a Room & Board mattress - one king bed, one queen bed, and one full bed. Fall asleep to the sound of wind through the forest canopy.

The space
Mather's Cabin is a mountain retreat where everyone can find their perfect pace (with reliable Wi-Fi for those who need to stay connected). You'll drive up a steep gravel road to reach the cabin, going under an old railroad bridge - it's an adventure that sets the tone for your stay.

Fair warning: the gravel road requires AWD or 4WD when winter weather hits.

The A-frame cabin sits in a quiet forest where you can truly unwind, whether you're seeking family bonding time, romantic moments, or catching up with friends.

Inside, you'll find a comfortable A-frame that feels special to everyone - kids think it's like a treehouse, couples love the cozy intimacy, and friend groups appreciate the unique character. The open living area has large sliding doors with mountain views that never get old.

The full kitchen handles everything from quick snacks to elaborate group meals. The dining table seats 6 and works equally well for family game nights, romantic dinners for two, or friend reunions that stretch late into the evening.

There are three bedrooms upstairs, all with Room & Board mattresses. The main bedroom has a king bed, another has a queen bed, and the third has a full bed. The slanted A-frame ceilings add charm that appeals to all ages - kids find them magical, adults find them cozy. The bathroom is downstairs.

Outside, the porch adapts to your group - morning coffee for early risers, afternoon reading for quiet souls, evening drinks for social butterflies. The fire pit is universally loved - perfect for family s'mores, romantic stargazing, or late-night conversations with friends. We provide firewood for whatever memories you want to make.

The cabin is about 30 minutes from Shenandoah National Park, offering trails for every interest - easy nature walks for families, challenging hikes for adventurers, and scenic overlooks perfect for couples or grid-worthy group photos.

Local towns provide varied experiences - family-friendly attractions, intimate restaurants for date nights, and lively spots where friend groups can explore together.

Mather's Cabin works for any group looking to step away from routine and into something more meaningful.

Guest access
As our guest, you'll have exclusive access to the private community area along the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. Take advantage of this unique feature and spend your days swimming, kayaking, or fishing. Picnic tables and fire pits are available for you to enjoy leisurely riverside meals or create memorable moments around a crackling fire.

Other things to note
Our cleaning fee is higher than we'd like, but it's the pass-through cost we pay for A+ reliable service in a rural community. There are no extra chores upon check-out.

Our cabin is located in a beautiful natural setting, and you may have the opportunity to observe various animals in their natural habitats. We kindly ask you to respect their space and refrain from feeding or disturbing them. While we strive to maintain a clean and comfortable environment, it’s important to note that bugs can occasionally find their way into the cabin. We take measures to minimize their presence, such as regular pest control treatments and sealing potential entry points. However, it’s possible to encounter the occasional insect during your stay.

To ensure a peaceful and restful environment for all guests, we have established quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. During this time, we kindly ask that all guests keep noise levels to a minimum, allowing everyone to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. In addition, the community has a strict policy prohibiting the use of guns and fireworks. We kindly request that all guests adhere to this policy during their stay.
