About this place

Welcome to Le Palaie Vecchie, our family home in the Tuscan countryside. Just 3 km from the nearest town, we offer ample space, privacy, and a warm welcome.

Our home boasts extensive gardens, a vineyard, an orchard, a vegetable patch, and a refreshing pool. Just so you know, we have two friendly dogs on the property.

The surrounding area is full of hidden gems to discover and is wonderfully untouched by mass tourism. Perfect for guests seeking genuine solitude and conviviality.

The space
The property offers a unique and private living experience with stunning views over the courtyard, pool, garden, and the hills beyond. The space is accessed via a private staircase, ensuring utmost privacy. Inside, a walk-in closet provides ample hanging and drawer space. The room is bathed in natural light, thanks to three windows, one equipped with a mosquito net and bars, and a large glass door.

Located just 4 meters from the main house, the room offers the perfect balance of seclusion and community. Guests can enjoy their own bedroom and bathroom while having access to various common areas, including sitting rooms, gardens, a vineyard, a fruit orchard, and a pool. The kitchen, accessible directly from the room, opens for breakfast from 7 AM, making it ideal for early risers.

Whether you prefer solitude or socializing, the property provides ample space to relax privately or join others in the garden or pool for some fun.

Guest access
Guests have exclusive access to their private bedroom and bathroom. You are also welcome to enjoy our shared indoor and outdoor spaces, including the beautiful gardens, vineyard, fruit orchard, and pool. There is ample room to relax, socialise, or find quiet solitude.

You will receive your own keys, allowing you to come and go as you please.

Important Notes:
Kitchen Access: Please note that the kitchen and all kitchen items are private and not accessible to guests.

Laundry: Direct access to laundry facilities is not provided, but we are happy to assist with laundry needs upon request.

Suitability: Our home is not suitable for young children under 12 (due to staircases, hidden areas, and the pool's location). Due to many steps and slopes, it is also not ideal for individuals with mobility issues.

We look forward to sharing the beauty and tranquillity of our Tuscan home with you!

During your stay
Since we live here, we'll see you around daily and are always available to answer any questions you may have. We love sharing our home and our local expertise!

Your Local Guides
We know about the local things to see, do, drink and taste. We know exactly where to go for those special, non-touristy experiences and which crowded spots to avoid (we understand Italian over-tourism!). Don't hesitate to ask us for tips.

Food, Fun, and Hands-On Activities
Home Restaurant: We run a Home Restaurant and love inviting our guests to join us for dinner in the evenings, offering a truly authentic culinary experience.

Join In: You are welcome to join in any relaxed activities happening at home, such as tomato planting or vineyard pruning.

Local Treats: Occasionally, we might even join you for a trip to the local ice cream parlour or a truly fabulous, cheap, and excellent local lunch!

We look forward to sharing a genuine slice of Tuscan life with you.

Other things to note
🐾Our Four-Legged Family
We are easy-going and friendly, and love to chat over a glass of good wine! Part of our family includes Tyra, our large rescue dog, who loves cuddles (she's very friendly!). We also have a small, enthusiastic puppy who is slowly learning her manners.

Crucially, Tyra does not get along with other animals. Therefore, we cannot host any domestic pets or service animals. Our dogs do not have access to all areas of the house or the pool garden.

🏠 Home Suitability and Safety
Our home is a safe space for solo female travellers.

However, please be aware:

Not Suitable for young children: Our home is not suitable for children under 12 due to many staircases, hidden areas, and a pool that is not visible from the house.

Mobility Issues: The property is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, as it features lots of steps, stairs, and slopes.

🕰️ Quiet Hours and Transport
Quiet Time: We are early to bed and early to rise. Since we work (and so do many of our guests), we observe quiet hours from 22:30 to 7:00.

Transport is Required: We are located 3 km from the main station up a steep hill (with stunning views). We strongly advise that you have your own form of transport to ensure you can easily explore the area.

But most importantly: we can’t wait to share our spectacular views, passion for local life, and a glass of Tuscan wine with you!

Another Brit living in Tuscany. I have been here since 1993 (originally from London) and speak fluent Italian, so I am good at getting things sorted locally. I have children and dogs and the usual paraphernelia associated with life. I work from home, and so am usually on hand to help out if required. Life in Tuscany is good and we live a slow life with simple pleasures. I would love to help you get to know them!
