Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
The Alice Room is at the top of the main stairs and sleeps 1-3 people. It has a Queen bed and a fold-out single bed. USB ports are available in the night stand. There is a shared bathroom at the other end of the hall. Other shared areas include dining room, kitchen, TV room, fire pit patio, and garden area.

Laurelhurst is a 5-bedroom farmhouse in Hillsboro, WV. It was built some time before 1900. While it has had modern amenities added, it is still very old at heart.

The space
Laurelhurst is a 5-bedroom farmhouse in Hillsboro, West Virginia. It was built some time before 1900 and has had additions to it over the years. The rooms are very spacious, the floors slant and creak, and the walls are a time capsule of wallpapers. While modern amenities have been added, Laurelhurst is still old at heart.

The grounds are a mixture of lawn, garden, patio, and what I like to call “the orchard” with 2 apple trees and a grape vine.

There are 2 cats that live on-site.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to share the TV Lounge, kitchen, dining room, covered porch, garden, and fire pit patio.

During your stay
Debbie and Nick stay on the premises and are available for any questions. Guests may reach us through Airbnb messaging, if we’re not getting tea in the kitchen.

Other things to note
Parking is available on site. Please drive carefully, as there may be children, pets, other guests around.

Fires are allowed in the fire pit after 5pm (local ordinance).

The local volunteer fire department sounds an alarm to call for their volunteers. It is rare but it is LOUD.

Neighborhood highlights

Laurelhurst is just off 219. The Hillsboro Public House restaurant is next door. The post office is also close by. There are 2 local grocery/convenience stores: Levels Depot (drive) and McCoy’s Market (drive or walk).

Watoga State Park, Cranberry Glades, Greenbrier Trail, and Pearl S. Buck birthplace are nearby.

*** The local fire department is very close, and they sound a siren to call their firefighters. It is very loud and will shake you in your boots. It does not necessarily mean the end is nigh. ***
