Guest access
During colder and snowy seasons, we strongly recommend using a vehicle with all-wheel or 4-wheel drive. Guests are responsible for being prepared for winter driving conditions, and we are unable to offer refunds or rescheduling due to weather-related travel issues.
HEADS UP: The NC DOT is currently working on the last two miles of Justus Road leading to the cabin—widening and paving. The recent hurricane did cause damage, but the road is still passable and safe to drive, even without 4WD (as long as there’s no snow).
That said, if driving on a gravel or back road makes you nervous, this might not be the best fit. The last 2 mile stretch switches between gravel and pavement. The roads aren’t super curvy or steep, but they are country roads—so if you’re not used to mountain driving, especially at night, it can feel a little off the beaten path.
