Everything you need for a self catered stay,

The space
Our quirky little cottage is set amongst the hills of Holmfirth , it is a wonderful
chilled get away. We have used many recycled materials within the cottage, recycled wood for fencing, shelves, seating , we have leather sofas which are very comfortable.

It's very suitable for single visitors, couples or friends, but we have also had small families stay. The front terrace garden overlooks the valley with far reaching views. This beautiful view also comes with a hill to walk up and down to the centre of Holmfirth.

Our house is dog and animal friendly, ( Not just dog tolerant). You won't arrive and find lots of do's and don't's, your dog is welcome anywhere in our house and I want nothing more than you all to be able to relax. We don't and won't ever charge anything extra for dogs. We also provide dog bowls, dog towels, biscuits and doggy bags, we have a mud daddy which you can use to clean your dog in the garden, so hopefully you don't have to pack too much.
It's not a big house so a maximum of three dogs I would recommend. Both gardens are gated and fenced, allowing your dog a free space to roam in and out of the house. There are lots of walks around the area, and an entrance to clean up your pet after muddy walks. We have leather sofas so you are able to snuggle up together.

I am happy to open my calendar in advance for guests and returning guests who want to book further ahead. I normally have the calendar open a year in advance, please just ask.

The house has one bedroom and a family bathroom, downstairs is open plan with a kitchen and living room area. The living area has comfortable sofas and a picture window with views overlooking the Holmfirth hills. There is superfast WiFi and 43 inch smart TV with Netflix.

The kitchen is perfect for working together, we love cooking here.
We have everything you need to create home cooked meals including oven, hob, microwave, Airfryer, a large fridge space and small freezer, kettle, pots and pans, and basic cooking essentials such as oil, spices, herbs ( fresh in the front garden) and salt.
Coffee, a cafeteria, teas, sugar and milk is also provided, (Let me know what type of milk you'd prefer) .We also provide tea towels and cloths .

Upstairs there is a bathroom and with a over bath shower. We provide shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and bath sheets and bath towels. There is also a single bed on the landing area.

The bedroom has a comfortable king sized bed, a chest of drawers, hanging space, handy shelves, bedside lamps, and a bed tray to treat yourselves to breakfast in bed. It's very quiet with just the sound of the water at the bottom of Holmfirth, a huge tree outside makes me feel like I'm sleeping in a tree house. Please note the single bed is on the landing area not in the bedroom, sorry I couldn't make this explicit on the app. Views across the valley are wonderful to wake up to.

A door upstairs leads to a elevated stepped back garden with views over the roof. We watched the Tour de Yorkshire from up here. The small garden is well stocked and fully enclosed and safe.

Holmfirth is hilly and our house is on a hill, after researching the healthiest people on our planet, I noted that those who live up steeper gradients live the longest so I enjoy that hill more now. Please note, there are five steps up to the house and the stepped garden out the back, and it's location, this property may not be suitable for people or dogs with mobility issues and young children.

You are able to drive to the front of the house to drop bags off but the road is narrow and you can't turn around, so you can either reverse, I reverse just to go down the lower road and find your way back to the upper part of South lane. It is only a thirty second walk from South lane so it's perfectly possible to carry bags, which maybe a good alternative.
The house is a 5 minute walk to the centre of Holmfirth ( ten minute walk back up due to the steep hill), or you could return via Dunford road a longer but not as steep route or walk up behind the church in the centre and return Back lane way.. There's also the 142 bus at stand D which runs every hour on the hour, it stops at 5pm but takes you right up the hill to the corner near our terrace.
In the centre of Holmfirth which is five minutes walk away there are many restaurants, pubs, shops and supermarkets. Last of the summer wine exhibits.
There's a swimming baths, gym and crown green bowling. Live music is commonly played at many venues notably the Picturedrome.

Parking is free, on street but not outside the property, we park on the upper part of South lane which is a short (30 second) walk away.

Guest access
The whole house and gardens are available.

Other things to note
Holmfirth is a busy little town that appeals to all ages, set in magnificent countryside , with walks galore, we love the reservoir walks. The community page Holmfirtevents.couk is a great way of checking what's going on in the area. The restaurants around Holmfirth have a fantastic reputation and there's the annual food festival. Favourite places to eat are the Lou and Jo's Burgers, Coopers Yard and the Old Bridge, (all dog friendly).
Holmfirth has a great reputation for live music. If you want a great experience book yourself into the Picturedrome, it won the small venue of the year a few years ago and does a great line in tribute acts. Magic Rock also has a cinema room that you can book.
I love to find treasures in the town's many second hand shops. Use the local greengrocer and bakery, find an excuse to go into the hardware shop, some great customer service.
Explore the town's history , enjoy the tours of the Last of the Summer Wine series. The people of Holmfirth are so very friendly and genuinely helpful.
Visit the galleries , Holmfirth is a very Arty town, the annual Art festival is a must to see and then there's the Arts festival with wonderful parades.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Hepworth gallery and Cannon Hall farm are 30 minutes drive away and worth a visit.

Holmfirth is a simply stunning small town high in the Holm valley of West Yorkshire, it is nestled in the pennines about six miles south of Huddersfield. The river Holm runs through the middle of the town, the TV comedy series Last of the Summer Wine and Where the heart is, were both filmed here. The town has a reputation for good food and live music, a visit to the Picturedrome and the Vineyard is a must. Very dog friendly, many cafes and restuarants are more than welcoming.
