It features a cozy living room with a dining area, loft bed, fully-equipped kitchenette, and bathroom.

You will love the high ceilings with an original stone wall, beam brackets, and aesthetic decor. I’ve designed, created, and painted every square inch of this apartment to reflect the artistic spirit of this medieval town.

You can do that in the tourist bureau. It is placed in the Square of Arms, next to the hotel Vardar, past the Post Office.

Where you’ll be

Kotor, Montenegro

Grumpy Sailor is located next to the Kotor’s most impressive building. This Catholic cathedral is dedicated to St. Tryphon, who became the patron saint of the ancient town. It was consecrated in 1166 but reconstructed after several earthquakes.

One of the Grumpy Sailor's windows looks at the famous Vrakien palace. The local legend says that the evil nobleman used to torture, kill and even immure people. Nowadays, some people believe that this palace is haunted.
The Vrakien palace is located on Salad Square, south of St Tryphon cathedral. The palace used to belong to the noble family Vrakien. The Vrakien family lived in this corner of Kotor since the 14th century, however, the palace that we can see today dates from a late baroque period (XVIII century). Above the main entrance is a family coat of arms crowned with a knight's headgear and the crow in the middle.

The Grumpy Sailor is located in the same Square as Drago palace
The Drago palace was constructed in the 14th Century but had to be renovated twice after earthquakes. It belonged to the noble family Drago.

The Grgurina Palace is located in Old Town Kotor. This building of the early 18th century is a beautiful example of classical Baroque, perfectly preserved to this day. Since 1938 it hosts the Maritime Museum of Montenegro. Here you can learn about the rich naval history of Kotor.

Square of Arms is Kotor’s main city square. It got its name during the Venetian period when arms were stored and repaired here. You can reach it through the main entrance gate into the Old town – the Sea Gate. Here you can see Clock Tower, Venetian Arsenal, Napoleon's Theatre, as well as the Prince's Palace, Bizanti, and Beskuca Palace.

In the Kotor Old Town, streets do not have official names, they are mostly the traditional names given by the locals. The most famous are Zanatska (Craftsmen) street, Rampada street, Duga (Long), Mokra (Wet), Uska (narrow) street, as well as Pušti me proć (Let me pass).

San Giovanni fortress- The hike takes you from the base of the Old Town, up 1,300 steep steps to an old fortification positioned high in the mountains overlooking the city. The view from the top is incredible. Extra tip- Doing the hike in the late afternoon, during the "golden hour" is particularly stunning, as the light is best for views across the Bay of Kotor.
