Neighborhood highlights

Ellsworth Falls is five minutes from Downtown by car and a twenty minute walk along the walk/bike trail. We own six houses on Falls Court and North Street with a church in the middle. The back yards of all the houses are adjacent to each other making the entire farmstead quite large. We also own the forested area beyond the lawn area that has trails throughout. Friends and Family Market is a great spot to pickup groceries, .2 miles away. The Dorr Lobster and Seafood Market is right across the street for fresh fish, lobster rolls and will steam lobsters for you! Downtown is quick drive, bike or twenty minute walk for great dining, entertainment and shopping.

What we love about living in Maine? The outdoors! David and I with our two hunting dogs spend as much time outdoors as we can. Whether working on the homestead gardens, hunting or fishing, there’s nothing quite as refreshing to the soul as being outside in the fresh air. Back in the old days, the property was a farm with sheep and goats. Today, we grow vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers and are putting in more raised beds every year using organic materials and methods. Apples are harvested from our orchard and throughout the property in the late summer and fall. We rake and winnow wild blueberries in the summer. In the winter, we tap over a hundred maple trees and boil down the sap into delicious golden syrup in an outdoor stove. Our forest provides plenty of wood that we cut, split and dry for this purpose. We raise chickens for fresh eggs who also supply a generous amount of fertilizer for the gardens. David is training pigeons to be homers that he uses in training his hunting dogs. We have a flight pen for chukar partridges which is also home to our rescued resident crow, Alistair Crowly, who can no longer fly. We have two Brittany pointing dogs that David handles at field trials and dog shows. Since the farmstead is so big with the property safely ringed by our own houses, they are free to race through the yard and forested walks to get the exercise they need. Our farmstead consists of several houses including our own that share an expansive backyard and forest. Planting trees, shrubs and flowers to provide a beautiful and unified street scape has been a major focus. We have spent a great deal of time outfitting our places so they would be comfortable and convenient for both our short term guests and long term tenants. A place where everyone can feel at ease and at home.
